Avatar m tn Daily use of NSAIDs over a long term, can have serious side effects and is not recommended.Substituting, another NSAID is not the answer. If you truly have developed post-traumatic arthritis as a result of previous meniscus injury, there are several alternatives. Viscosupplementation with hyluronate injections, such as Synvisc, can be very helpful. Natural anti-inflammatories such as Glucosamine or Omega-3 are very useful alternatives.
Avatar m tn Can you take meloxicam and later a couple of Advil? I was prescribed meloxicam for my arthritis and it does not always help me..
1044813 tn?1370494406 Sure, we can add Mobic/Meloxicam to the Pain Tracker for you. In the meantime, please use NSAIDs, since meloxicam is a type of NSAID and this is already available on the tracker.
Avatar m tn Let me just start by saying I am a 33 year old married male with no history of health problems. Today the date is October 20/2008. At the end of May I started having pain in my left testicle. Over the next 2 months I was seen by 3 more doctors with similar issues and diagnosed with epididymitis and prescribed various doses of Cipro(10 days), Apo-Cephalexin (3 weeks) and Apo-oflox(1 week).
Avatar n tn I do not see kidney function on the list of side effects. Did you look on WebMD? Just curious. I’m prone to stones. That is why I’m asking. Don’t trust doctors at all anymore.
Avatar m tn Both the medication with give almost equal amount of pain relief though meloxicam is associated with fewer side effects as compared to ibuprofen. Though pain relief may be immediate, anti-inflammatory action may take a few days to build up. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar f tn I've been on that medication for many years and have had no side effects. It's been very helpful for my condition (severe tibial tendonitis).
Avatar f tn sorry to hear your hubby is having a hard time. sounds like he is having some of the common side effects. There is nothing that can boost platlets but many docs let them go really low before lowering or stopping the meds. Try and get back on the full strength of interferon ASAP! Probably the most common side effect is the itching. I have it as well and it is horrible. I have found some relief with a prescription med called Atarax.
Avatar f tn Has anyone heard of Meloxicam helping with w/d from opiates, such lortabs? I went to the doctor for some issues that I had been having and decided to reach out to my doctor for help getting off these bad boys. He perscribed Meloxicam to help with some the withdrawal symptons. I have to say this stuff, which is just an anit inflammatory will helps with the symptons. It eleminates the hot, flush feeling which is most annoying. It really does help.
Avatar n tn Now after reading about Meloxicam side effects today, I am suspecting that perhaps the issue is the Meloxicam. My symptoms seem slightly different each day. Initially it was a few days of mostly lower leg weakness and overall lack of energy. That changed to a few days of lower leg tingling and numbness, and then the numbness and tingling moved to mostly my right side leg and arm and slightly in my left leg.
Avatar m tn So, if you do not have GI bleeding or an ulcer, you may want to ask your doctor about other NSAIDS. Mobic (the generic name is meloxicam) is a great alternative, because it is generic and has less GI/ulcer problems than most of the NSAIDS. Ultimately, you should see what your doctor thinks is best for you. If your doctor insists on Celebrex, you may want to contact the company and see if they have any discount coupons that your pharmacy can process. Many companies do this.
Avatar m tn Hello Flowr, I understand your hesitancy to take Meloxicam. Meloxicam is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with analgesic and fever reducer effects. It's often used in Arthritic and inflammatory conditions. However any NSAID comes with concerns - including OTC NSAIDs such as Ibuprofen. Several years ago Glucosamine & Chondroitin was popular with medical providers. It was hailed as the new and one of the best "treatments" for restoring cartilage and reducing pain.
Avatar m tn So it looks like anything you take for inflamed nerves could help the pain a lot but will probably kill you in the process Yet these drugs are approved..
Avatar f tn Like... they said at 10mg there are very few side-effects and at 20mg there are noticeable side-effects. But, you obviously don't want to change the dose on your own, as this can be extremely dangerous! But, it would be worth talking to your doctor about if the side-effects don't go away fast enough. Although... most of the time... with SSRIs in general I find, it can take 2 to 4 weeks for side-effects to go away and then they're gone for good.
1550149 tn?1340000730 In a search for an answer to your side effects question I also did some looking into the prescribed Meloxicam. Some of the side effects of Mobic (meloxicam) are problems with vision or balance and headaches. Sorry I could not be of greater assistance. Please discuss your SX with your prescribing physician. It may behove you to try an alternative pain medication to see if your SX will decrease or resolve.
Avatar f tn This thread scared me a lot when I was having side effects from Meloxicam so I just wanted to leave a comment to clear things up. If you're having numbness and weird tingles, even slight burning, don't worry. These side effects will most likely pass with time. They did for me (it took about 10 days though). I feel perfectly normal now. The comments the people left in this thread are completely irresponsible and unacceptable. It isn't right to wildly speculate.
Avatar m tn this rom drumaybe side effects from drugs prescribed.
1920386 tn?1323282549 I have a torn meniscus in my left knee, accompanied by a syst in there as well. it has been ongoing for about 2 yrs and i finally got the MRI done and the diagnosis. the pain is on and off, and the severity of the pain also goes up and down. my orthopedist has rx'd me 2 different NSAID pain relievers thus far. I have had minimal pain relief from these meds. anyone else have experience with this? are the NSAIDS working for you?
1252901 tn?1271131868 Is it stronger and does it work better than prescription-strength naproxin? What kind of side-effects does it have? Does it affect your mood like vicodin does? I'm just wondering about other people's experiences with this drug. thanks.
1021831 tn?1331605848 I would suggest rest, along with ice-packs/ warm compresses and tylenol/ NSAIDS for pain relief. It may take a few days/ weeks for it to heal and the pain to subside. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
