celebrex

418155 tn?1205409893 yey....it is good stuff and safer than celebrex....I take naproxen sodium which is very similar....my son hurt his knee and had fluid on it...he took it for a week and applied ice and it healed up.....I like it because for me I can take as needed instead of everyday...most have to build up in your system and can not be used on a prn basis...
Avatar m tn I have severe joint point pain and I have been told that Celebrex is a huge help for this. I am wondering about side effects and medicine interactions.
Avatar n tn I was on Celebrex 200 mg daily, my pain clinic dr also wants to add Cymbalta 30 mg for 7 days then 60 mg. My husband and I want to have children but are not activly trying at this point, it happens when it happens. I just want pain to stop or at least elevate more. SHould I take both together. My OB said it should be ok, My neuro dr said give it a try but pain clinic dr said don't. What should I do? I have taken it for 3 days now. I also have PCOS.
Avatar m tn s an excellent food diary here on MH or there are other apps you can use. Using a pedometer is also a good idea and aim for 10,000 steps/day. Many people find that replacing one meal/day with a high quality protein shake works well. There are tons of recipes for the shakes (I can post a few or post a link to some already posted), using a good quality protein powder (whey powder is recommended).
Avatar n tn The back doctor just prescribed Celebrex, is this the safest drug for her? Also what should people with Hep C do to better care for their liver eventhough so far she seems to have a healthy liver. For the osteoporosis she is on Fosamax. She has been on it for several years. I am just afraid that too many potent drugs can be harmful for her liver. But I realize that they do have to get control over the swelling on her articulations.
Avatar f tn I want all to know I am just starting Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN). Stopped the Enbrel, Plaquenil, Celebrex, muscle relaxers, Methotrexate and other meds, and am only taking my blood pressure meds, hormone therapy and this LDN! I am STRONGER, less fatigued, and am doing very well in many areas!! I just wanted all of you to realize this LDN is out there, it's available and works well for most of us.
1168317 tn?1330262837 Where people can be taught to deal with chronic pain there are few things we can do to take our minds off of itching. That is why it is a good torture tool. Things people have suggested for dealing with neuropathic itching are 1) cold or coolness which is usually better than heat. Heat brings more blood to the surface of the skin and typically worsens itching - but not always. It is worth trying if nothing is working. IcyHot or menthol creams. Steroid cream can occasionally work.
Avatar f tn I have a close family memeber, (a nurse also) has taken Celebrex daily for a number of years. It is very effective for relieving her severe bi-lateral knee pain and she feels the benefits out weight the risks. She is 49. Celebrex may cause an increased risk of serious cardiovascular thrombotic events, myocardial infarction, and stroke, which can be fatal. All nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) may have a similar risk. This risk may increase with duration of use.
Avatar f tn I was on Celebrex for 15 months (I was on treatment for 18). The problem with Celebrex is that long term use can be hard on the heart.
1155483 tn?1262432647 Thanks very much for everyones input. It is much appreciated. I have been on the Toradol going into my third day and have had terrible headaches, stomach pain and occasional visual hallucinations (in the form of halos and dots in my field of view.) I will have a chat with my doc and see what we can do about a different treatment.
Avatar m tn Celebrex (there is no generic but the active ingredient is celecoxib) is an expensive NSAID (non-steroidal-anti-inflammatory-drug), and there are no alternatives exactly like it, but you may be able to try something similar. Most NSAIDS follow two pathways in the body, COX-1 inhibition and COX-2 inhibition. The second one is desirable, as it decreases the inflammation. The first pathway can slowly destroy the stomach lining and over time, cause ulcers or GI bleeding.
Avatar f tn but these side effect have developed not just an effect but a whole other health issue witth added meds such as zantac, blood work every 6weeks to 2 months and i forgot another side effect was anemia fromt he celebrex...........
968560 tn?1307451498 Rather than my making a suggestion on different drugs, I am going to just suggest you talk to your doctor about a time released pain medications and let her decide what would be best to prescribe to you. That is what I did when it took too many Vicodin to relieve my pain.
1415174 tn?1453243103 I meant to add that to find out WHICH med is causing the eye problems you should stop them ONE at a TIme. That way you will know. I THINK that you've pretty much figured it out that it's the Neurontin and not the Celebrex that was causing it from what you have said to me. Especially since that is one of the side-effects of the Neurontin and VERY seldom (only - was is it 5%?) for the Celebrex.
1207048 tn?1282174304 I did not say anything about spasticity, but I have my suspicion that is what is causing most of my issues. In the morning I hobble around like I'm 95 years old! He wants me to take Celebrex. He did say I could try to take it on an "as needed" basis but I might have to take it daily. Have any of you guys tried Celebrex? He called in the prescription, but insurance needs to approve it first. I should know the blood work and x-ray results tomorrow.
Avatar f tn Thanks for your message. I will check into it and see what the doctor recommends. Take care.
443898 tn?1229700080 Is there any way you can be over medicated with the enbrel and celebrex? For the fatigue I use vitamin B complex. This really helps me. Good luck and dont give up!
Avatar f tn Thank you for your help-you are right-this is not pleasant! I thought maybe I could just switch them but Celebrex doesn't seem to be doing anything for me right now. I think maybe it just needs some time to build up in my system. I left a msg for my doctor requesting advice on tapering off Nucynta (I have enough left to do so). I just moved to a different state so in between doctors and trying to switch meds so I can start working while dealing with chronic pain-not a fun time.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Celebrex (200 mg a day) for about five years for bone on bone knee osteoarthritis. It has worked well for controlling my pain (not perfect but pretty good). I also get some lower back pain (combination of osteoarthritis and nerve stuff) that only happens when I over-do (like trying to garden, etc.). I typically need a day or two of Vicodin for that as the Celebrex does not seem to work for that.
Avatar f tn I know it is a NSAID so I am scared of it. He thinks it is not a problem with hep c, but he is not a Hep C doc. What is the scoop on it? Any one taking it with Hep C?
Avatar m tn It's been 11 days and I seem to be going through the norm. I am in a lot of back and joint pain. I am going to see my pain management doctor today. I take meloxicam for arthritis and I think I'm going to ask for a change. I have been told that Celebrex and Indomethacin is a good non narcotic combination. Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.
Avatar m tn Hi, I read the news article and doctors comments. It is a promising treatment for HPV. It is still very early in clinical trails. It sounds like it doesn't work for everyone as a cure. Some seem to be cured while others have to stay on the drug. There are side effects of long term treatment with Celebrex as well.
