niaspan

Avatar n tn s cholesterol used to clock in at about 270 and he had the same reservations as your husband about drugs - niacin has worked very well for him - his cholesterol is now sub 150 and has been for 10+ years). You could say that extended release niacin is sort of a drug in itself but btw that and a statin I'd personally try the niacin first.
Avatar f tn And if you are on a cholesterol lowering medication already, it may have no effect at all. It IS in a lot of multi vitamins and in food we eat, you are already getting some niacin. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/high-blood-cholesterol/in-depth/niacin/art-20046208 Things to look out for when using are skin rashes, gi issues and possibly impact on developing type 2 diabetes. https://health.clevelandclinic.
1135275 tn?1586565652 Ok, I've been trying to 'get healthy' for the past couple years. First, it started with quitting smoking....which I managed to do 2 years ago. Then came excercise (GREAT mood booster)....then came eating healthy. The tricky part of this whole process has been to eat healthy. There seems to be so much conflicting data that it's INCREDIBLY overwhelming to try to understand what good nutrition is. That being said, I suffer from anxiety/depression.
1063764 tn?1272821064 t want to end up taking too many vitamins. I also take calcium with vitamin D in it. The niacin supplements I bought say they are "flush" free. Also what is the best time to take them? I've read that they can make you tired. Thanks for any help.
Avatar m tn By Lasie74 | Feb 02, 2013 I have been suffering from various non specific symptoms for long time but no definite diagnosis has been made in the context of global picture of symptoms and abnormal lab findings. They are as follows: Positive ANA with speckled and nucleolar pattern Positive atypical P-ANCA Elevated Kappa light chain erratic blood level of triglycerides from normal to slightly elevated to very high.
Avatar m tn Unfortunatey the FDA banned sale of quinine sulfate (sold fror 100 years over-the-counter), but it is still available in some health food stores.
Avatar n tn I know someone who recovered from a stroke by taking niacin so I was taking that, but not enough to do much good. Does anyone suggest niacin? Does it have to be taken before eating food or with food? Also does anyone have anything to say about Mona vie- a drink with acai berries in it that seems to make me feel better.
Avatar n tn It could very well be something in the shake that has caused this reaction, or a combination of it and some other ingredient from the powder. One way to test, is to wait until the rash has totally cleared ( which may be up to 6 weeks in severe cases ) and then try it again. However, that is NOT suggested. Whenever a rash appears, it can signify a serious bad reaction to something, and the next time you try whatever it is you think caused it...it could do more damage the next time.
Avatar f tn I am authorized to take glycine because I have advanced tardive dyskinesia and cannot tolerate Clozaril (which also is one medication glycine could not be taken with as they interact). I take it in powdered format which is ordered as the standard pills that are in health food stores are not helpful. However any decision as to whether it could be taken as an adjunct antipsychotic must be made by a psychiatrist and taken as I do under strict psychiatric supervision.
475570 tn?1280941363 What do we think about the new colesterol study about the effect of niacin not doing the job?
Avatar f tn i mean i feel like a boiling or a burning sensation inside me ,in my blood besides the itching, what can it be?i forgot to mention that i have a kidney problem, can it be relate to that?
718651 tn?1237042917 trying to lessen w\d. i've heard people take it and they sweat out toxins in their bodies, and the next day drug tests come back clean,, so i figured it would take pills out of mine.. it does seem to be working,. i am 36 hours into it and feel pretty good...
Avatar f tn Thanks for your prompt reply. I take 50 mg. Trrazodone, for sleep. My only other medication is Maxzide. I am not intentionally taking a lot of niacin. My multi-vitamin lists 20 mg. As far as I know my diat does not include an unusually high amount of niacin. I do eat bran cereal and drink about 4 8-oz. glasses of milk a day.
Avatar f tn if you can try the slo release formula and make sure you take with food.. I use and research a lot of alternate treatments.. Niacin has the propensity to flare up causing those exacerbated feelings also your scalp may feel like its on fire too.. You should be ok and if it doesn't go away seek medical treatment ..
Avatar n tn Does dark chocolate also raise LDL? Does it have a lot of bad fats in it?
Avatar f tn Not that new; I've been on it for almost a year with good results and no problems. But my best lipid results ( raising HDL, lowering LDL and Lp(a) ) came from taking RX Niacin which I take with the 10 mg Crestor and 325 mg aspirin at bedtime. No problems with Niacin either.I take RX fish oil also as I am in big time prevention mode due to cardiac microvascular dysfunction.
Tbd What is the purpose of the niacin and should a niacin supplement be administered if the medication does not contain niacin?
Avatar f tn ve been taking 250 mg of Niacin. Based on the previous TSH told me to decrease to 150. The last dosage said to decrease to 125 mcg. Is this weird?
479244 tn?1271563659 This stuff I bought at the drug store has 25 mgs. of niacin. Is is all they had , but I am thinking about returning it. IYO - is it safe for me to take this or should I return and look for plain ol B12 liquid.
Avatar f tn The first issue is whether or not it is compensatory (in the case of asthma and COPD, for example), in which case it should be fooled with cautiously. The other possibility is idiopathic high-blood prerssure, with no known causitive factor. Your blood pressure readings are a bit high but not dangerously high. You did not record the pulse. Without knowning the pulse the blood pressure reading is meaningless.
Avatar n tn I don't know if this helps you..but in layman's terms...niacin B3 is needed to create energy for metabolism. Are you having problems with weight gain or loss?
