s nothing you really have to worry about. The best thing to do is to figure out what triggers the individual attacks (such as low blood sugar) and then to avoid those triggers. And, if an attack does come on, to use migraine medication, such as triptans, to stop the attack from continuing. There is no cure for migraines, it is sort of like having allergies or diabetes or epilepsy... it's just something that we are born with because it is genetic...
What rescue medications do people take? I was just diagnosed 2 weeks ago with a complex migraine (the excruciating headache has yet to go away) and Fioricet is doing hardly anything to lessen the pain. Wondering if anyone out there has found anything else to work well for them? Also I was reading on the internet about Pericranial injections of 50-U BTX-A of complicated migraines take a "serious turn". Has anyone heard of this or taken it before?
Could be migraines. Does it throb right behind your left eye??? I've had migraines for years (comes with having 4 kids I think-ha); the only meds that help relieve most of the pain are Zomig (really expensive, but no generic version yet) and Meloxicam (generic for Mobic) - both pills taken together usually decrease pain within an hour or two. Hope this helps. My doc also suggested Imitrex when I can't afford the Zomig anymore.
Headache on left front side with a crazy visual aura, took zomig, hour later took ibuprofen 600, albuterol sulfate and Ritalin. Cold and hot feeling across skin, mostly on right side, nausea, joint pain, burning pain in abdomen and chest, dizzy, tired and short of breath. Migrating sharp pains across body. Ringing ears. Vision is unnaturally blurry. Chest and stomach symptoms worsen when laying down, head symptoms worsen when standing up.
I feel very depressed and wonder if this is because of the drugs. I feel sick everyday now. I do not leave the house. I do not feel normal, motivated, or interested in anything. Sounds desperate I know but desperate times call for desperate measures. Any and all advice will be truly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time and postings.
I always have a visual aura and then I lose vision in my left eye. I have tried imitrex, zomig and I am currently on topomax. June 2006 I had sudden left sided weakness. my arm and leg. I felt rather confused a little disoriented, but that didn't last long. the weakness has persisted. I have had about six MRI done. Mostly normal I have a small Arnold-Chiari variant. I work full time at the local hospital. I work closely with many doctors, they all can't give ma any definite answers.
s those headaches where the Zomig does nothing. For those headaches, I use Imitrex Injection. It works almost immediately, but the side-effects will knock me out for at least half an hour after using it. Like most people who experience side-effects with Imitrex, I get a rash, a racing heart beat and a feeling of heaviness in my chest (like asthma).
Deviated Septem was also ruled out. I just wanted to know what the next step should I take and if I have reached the end of the possibilities and just live with it.
Hi, my name is Alaina and I have had 2 brain surgeries. While I was in the military I was exposed to something, giving me spinal meningitis. For weeks my back tried to break itself until a doctor found a brain abscess the size and volume of a golf ball on the left side of my brain. I was rushed to surgery which removed the majority of the abscess via a cranyotomy. That portion of my brain was damaged and said to have been destroyed by the abscess.
My neurologist prescribed Periactin as a preventative and Zomig as a pain reliever when a migraine sets in. I always get migraines or headaches when I am hot. I'm not one to sweat a lot when I'm hot; I just get migraines almost immediately. There's probably nothing wrong with me, but I wondered what you all thought? I have not had any blood tests. I am generally very healthy. Thanks!
I'm not sure but do you feel like the imitrex works for your migraine?I take "midrin" and it doesn't help at all.....
