Common Questions and Answers about Does zomig work

zomig

768044 tn?1294223436 For the majority of my migraine headaches, the triptan that I use is Zomig Nasal Spray. I find that of all the triptans I have tried, for me, Zomig works best. I use the 5mg Nasal Spray. I also have a prescription for Imitrex Injection too, although the Imitrex Injection is to use for my most severe migraine headaches (what I used to call my "suicide headaches" or what I now refer to as a 9/10 headache using the Pain Scale that was recently posted in Pain Management Community Forum).
768044 tn?1294223436 t mean that some people might find they do get great results from the tablets even if the zomig is absorbed better in terms of a nasal spray... so, if the tablets DO work for you, I'd never suggest switching to the nasal spray just because the nasal spray is "supposed" to work better.) I liked the maxalt for a while. A lot of my friends use it. It also tastes awful. But, it works really well. It stopped working for me for some reason, I don't know why.
910419 tn?1289483727 I have a tentative diagnosis of basilar migraine that got slapped on me ~7 years ago. That was before my heart condition was diagnosed, so I'm not sure if I still qualify. The thing is, I have an Rx for Zomig, (a triptan) and my mom's made me really scared of taking the Zomig for fear of cutting off blood circulation. Does anybody else here have basilar migraines and take triptans? If not, do you have an abortive of any kind?
768044 tn?1294223436 Zomig seems to work for me, I also take 500mg magnesium with it. Sometimes Tylenol headache, but it usually doesn't work..........If I have to go to the ER they use DHE, with Haldol because of the side effects of the DHE, that works.
Avatar n tn - Hydromorphone tablets 1mg (a type of synthetic morphine that is stronger and does not have any of the nasty upset-stomach or nausea side-effects that morphine has) if the Zomig, Naproxen and Gravol all do not help and the pain is at a 8+/10 level.
Avatar n tn Hi! You have not reached the end of possibilities! There are lots of other medications to try. If the sumatriptan isn't working, i'd suggest trying another triptan. There are lots on the market. I use zomig nasal spray, it works fairly well... not 100%, but, it can stop a lot of my migraines. If zomig doesn't work for you, there are still tons of other triptans on the market.. maxalt... and try different types of delivery methods too. Are you taking tablets.
Avatar f tn Could be migraines. Does it throb right behind your left eye??? I've had migraines for years (comes with having 4 kids I think-ha); the only meds that help relieve most of the pain are Zomig (really expensive, but no generic version yet) and Meloxicam (generic for Mobic) - both pills taken together usually decrease pain within an hour or two. Hope this helps. My doc also suggested Imitrex when I can't afford the Zomig anymore.
Avatar f tn If it's a true migraine, then a triptan will work, like Zomig or Imitrex. I take Zomig (I get migraines about 3-5 times a year) and Zomig knocks it out. Ironically, Norco used to give me headaches and then unfortunately, I became accustomed to them and addicted to them...... Now I am on day 14 with no opiates and I am still not quite well, but better each day. I won't be touching those demonic yellow pills anymore. Fortunately, my pain level is manageable as well.
Avatar n tn I have always struggled with migraines and now I am trying to get pregnant. Does anyone have experience with using Zomig or one of the other Triptan medications during pregnancy? What was your experience like? Tylenol is not working for me.
Avatar n tn Yes I do have swollen temples! Wow, I'm sorry you had to go thru all that too! It was my pleasure serving the country.....my scar gets real tender after all my headaches and the pain radiates over both my eyes.....I take zomig for the migraines, which seems to work, but I'm afraid of becoming addicted, my doctors continuously warn me about that...Ive tried a lot of meds too and nothing seems to work.....nothing shows up in my MRIs either....
306455 tn?1288862071 Wow, Thank you for that! I am a weather head too. That is how my Hydro use came into play. If the winds change I get one. They would burn me as witch if I lived back then. I can predict rain, snow, big weather changes about 2 days in advance.. I use to use imtrex but it gave me kidney stones now it is Zomig but if I don't catch it in time I am done. Topmax as a preventive. I do know about the insurance thing 9 pills only for 4 weeks or 6 nasal sprays for 4 weeks.
1807779 tn?1333840302 I take fiorcet whenever I have a bad headache. It works well for me.
Avatar f tn Headache on left front side with a crazy visual aura, took zomig, hour later took ibuprofen 600, albuterol sulfate and Ritalin. Cold and hot feeling across skin, mostly on right side, nausea, joint pain, burning pain in abdomen and chest, dizzy, tired and short of breath. Migrating sharp pains across body. Ringing ears. Vision is unnaturally blurry. Chest and stomach symptoms worsen when laying down, head symptoms worsen when standing up.
Avatar f tn Hi tiansoph! I am so sorry to hear how severely your migraines have effected your life and well-being. Migraines can be very disabling, especially when they are out of control. I have chronic migraines, that means I have at least 15 migraines a month. Depending on the month, I might get them daily or I might only have around 15.
768044 tn?1294223436 Anyway, I told him about the very severe migraines I sometimes get that are much more severe then the normal severe migraines, and how even if I take one or two of everything I have to treat migraines (zomig + naproxen + metoclopramide + gravol + hydromorphone + non-pharmaceutical treatments) that nothing works to even touch the pain and I needed something to treat these unusually (well, unusually for me) severe migraines because I was scared of what I might do to get out of pain if I was alone
86075 tn?1238115091 a friend told me it works great for headaches...does anyone have any experience with it? or know about it? thanks...!
521800 tn?1212329682 Thank you for your response, next time I go to the doctor i will definitly ask for an antimigraine. I used to also use the Zomig Nasal Spray but that would just immediatly put me to sleep and when i would wake up my body would feel sore but my headache was gone. i had also tried other pills to take as soon as i felt the migraine coming but those never really worked. Is there anything i should be worried about with the zomig because that seemed to be the only thing that worked before.
Avatar m tn Its is right above my eye sockets, in between above the nose. This is a pain that take my focus away from work and study. I rub a tiny bit of Ben Gay for a minute or so which seems to help a bit and allow me focus on for 30 minutes. I have been having this pain for a long time (more then 10 yrs). My G.P. gave me a full course of triple dose (1500mg) of amoxacilin to cure any infections. Later I went to several ENT specialists.
Avatar f tn Imitrex is a triptan, and although usually very effective, it does not always work for everyone. I would suggest getting a prescription for a different triptan to see if you have more success with a different triptan... as different people react differently to different triptans...
Avatar m tn s not handy, 4-5 200mg ibuprofen. The Zomig is an oral disintegrating tablet, and works in less than 5 minutes. It does leave you feeling a tad spaced out, but I'll take that any day of the week compared to a frenzied/panicked trip to the ER (and the $2k subsequent bill). Xanax should also work, but you should can't take too much of it.
