Common Questions and Answers about What does metrogel treat

metrogel

Avatar f tn s finally clearing up, but my entire face was scratched up today, including the area I typically treat with metrogel. Is the metrogel safe to use on fresh scratches and sores to continue treatment. If so, would it be good to also put the metrogel on my entire face to help with all the scratch marks?
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with a bladder infection and a vaginal infection. I assume its bacterial vaginosis because my doctor prescribed Bactrim and Metrogel. But because I have Raynaud's Syndrome, I can't use Metrogel. So my doctor has now prescribed Cipro. But how would either one help with the vaginosis? And as for the bladder infection, couldn't I just take one because they both treat UTIs?
Avatar f tn It wouldn't particularly hurt to re-treat the yeast, once you finish the full run of the metro gel.
Avatar f tn It would go away and come back, not sure what it was. I did so much research online and I believe I have steriod induced periocular dermatitis. I went to my doctor and he was totally uninformed about it. My doctor perscribed me Metrogel 0.75. I have been using it since Jan 18th 2010 (last month). For the most part I have been clear, however I still see some LIGHT red areas like they are fading away. Have I not used it long enough?
Avatar f tn m asking because I have recurrent bacterial vaginosis infections - i have tried metrogel, flagyll tindamax, clindesse, i have it again.. I bought plain yogurt and mixed it with acidophillous powder and inserting it using a metrogel applicator at night, I always wear a liner because of bv anyway, but there is a LOT of discharge. Am I doing this right? has anyone else had good results with this method? how long should it take for symptoms to go away.
Avatar f tn Also, I was on doxycycline however it upsets my stomach (with or without food) so I have to call my doctor on monday to try a different antibiotic. Anything you reccomend as far as an antibiotic? Also what about using Metrogel while taking an antibiotic at the same time? I have heard to really get rid of periocular dermatitis, you have to take an antibiotic for 30-60 days to get rid of it fully. Oh and also, is it okay to use a lotion on top of it or aloe on top of it?
7757724 tn?1396279586 You have to remove the gel that's in your vagina before inserting a new dose. Just use water while you shower. The gel is antibacterial so you are not contaminating your Vagina in any way.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone...Recently I have been having several problems with the skin on my face. Up until about a year ago I had absolutely flawless skin. I'm 22 years old and live in Florida and used to go tanning alot but stopped about a year and a half ago. It started when I went on the birth control-nuva ring for ovarian cysts about 5 months ago and recently changed to yaz and have seen no difference.
Avatar n tn I keep sweating and have discharge after I been treat for bacterial vaginosis . Ob gyn proscribed me tinamax oral for 5 days.
Avatar f tn The NP precribed metrogel for 5 days at bedtime. I havent found the courage to take it yet, because its inserted vaginally. The warning states its a category B and can be passed through the placenta. Has anyone else taken metrogel during their pregnancy? If so wad everything ok?
Avatar f tn I followed up with my primary care doctor, and he said that two days of applying metrogel was not enough to treat the infection, so he gave me a 2 gram metrodinazole treatment for the BV. He also gave me a Diflucan pill to take as a preventative measure against another yeast infection, which I took the day after finishing the metrodinazole treatment. However, it seems that the burning and soreness got worse after taking Diflucan.
Avatar n tn It came back with heavy growth of Gardnerella. STD tests negative for gonorrhea, chlamydia, trich, herpes, and HPV. Took one dose of metrogel. Started feeling better within 12 hours but I had a reaction to the medicine. Did 5 days of peroxide douches for the BV. burning, redness and swelling continued. Went to dr. She did another vaginal culture. Neg for all STDs again and gardnerella gone. She gave me Estrace cream. Didn't help. I still have the burning all the time.
1415174 tn?1453243103 My triggers are hot temperature and not sure what else. I am allergic to Metrogel. I have Metrocream. I tested it on my arm and then face on the chin and didn't blow up like I did with Metrogel. But I also don't like the idea of having to use a low dose antibiotic and the side effects are not so good at least in the package insert. Is there anything else I can do? I don't really put much cream on my face except when I use the Finacea. I don't like the feeling of goo on my face.
Avatar f tn When I get out of the shower or overheated, I have a pink spot on the skin just above my upper lip, touching the lip line. It's approx. 2 cm long by 1/4th cm high. There's also a tingling sensation at times. The skin there looks slightly different but I'm 62 and have had age spots burned off in my hairline, etc. I am female, never smoked, don't drink and have never had a cold sore or tested positive for HPV. I do not sunbathe but grew up in the south.
Avatar m tn I was tested positive for HIV this February. I have been an occasional user of MDMA via syringe. I tested negative for Hepatitis B and C. During the first week of June, I suddenly came down with a fever which wouldn't go away. Later the doctors found a lesion on my liver, for which I was treated with Metronidazole (Metrogel) injections, and later metrogel tablets. Recent CT scan shows "a cystic lesion on the liver, measuring 4x3.5 cms with a smooth enhancing wall seen in segment IV.
Avatar f tn I really need one but i have no money and i've never seen one before, what will happen if i dont treat it?
1054108 tn?1314298660 I wasn't treated for the same thing as you, but still wanted to add this thought...when I was pregnant I was very concerned about taking anything. I have similar concerns now while breastfeeding. I have personally found the pharmascist to be the best source of information in terms of what is safe and what isn't. I always check with him/her. It is their job to know any and all possible side effects or problems for a pregnant/nursing mom.
Avatar n tn Minocycline, Metrogel, Prosacea, Eurax, Loprox, Tea Tree Ointment, Econazole, Clotrimazole, Ketoconazole 1%, Selsun Blue, Lotrimin Ultra, Finacea, oral Diflucan, an assortment of vitamins and supplements, natural and alternative medicine. I have this theory that my body is attacking my chin area's skin cells, therefore breaking down my skin barrier or turning cell turnover too rapidly, which may make the cells clump up in my pores. How do I get to the gist of it and stop it?
1415174 tn?1453243103 Also, she was on Metrogel and she was allergic to it and it gave her second degree burns. She has healed from that but wonders if there are any prolonged affects of a problem like that. Lastly, she was on a steroid (diprolene) for years for the face (lupus). After the bad burns from the Metrogel, and it healed the dermatologist took her off of the steroid cold turkey and said to just use certain creams until the breakouts from the steroid went away.
Avatar f tn The doctor now prescribed Doxycyline for 1 month and Metrogel 1%. There has been improvement, but very slowly with 2 flare ups so far. It has been two weeks since I stopped the steroid completely. Will it ever go away? Will my skin return to the way it was before the steroid use? (I never had rosacea before) Thank you in advance.
Avatar f tn I haven't had sex for over a year and I smell down there, even when I'm sitting it does and gets worst when I stand, why is this? How can I get rid of it? It's not really a fishy smell but it's kind of gross smelling, never had a yeast infection or unprotected sex. Any ideas?
1415174 tn?1453243103 t hurt or itch it is just more pink than the other leg. Does anyone know why. Secondly, now I have some very very itchy tiny red bumps on my face that I haven't yet shown the doctor. I have used the Clobetsol topical cortisone ointment on it and it goes away within about 2-3 days. It comes back about one a week or two. Is it bad to use the cortisone topical so often? Is there anything else I can do to prevent it?
