I took Flovent for 10 years to treat asthma but I came off it 3 years ago; I experienced my first "adrenal crisis" or whatever it's called after I quit the Flovent. Sudden vomiting, painful stomach pangs but at the time, I did not know what to do so I just did nothing and pushed through it. I was told afterwards I was lucky to have survived it but maybe that person was being dramatic? I don't know.
I am taking Flovent, Spiriva and ProAir. Since I've been on the medication I've been Dxed with idiopathic neuropathy, cervical radiculopathy, carpel tunnel. I also have other entrapment symptoms, ulnar ,and I think in my legs as well.
Sometimes I get a burst of nerve pain in my arms and legs a few minutes after using the Flovent and it also causes some tendon swelling. I've shown over and over that I have less pain on lower doses of meds.
Flovent is not a rescue inhaler. Who told you that? Only Albuterol nebs or inhalers are rescue inhalers,
Flovent is aka fluticasone, you can grow aspergillus with flovent and advair. Did you read the patient information that it can also cause resp infections as well as cataracts, over time?
Have you changed your toothbrush, had dental cleanings or told your MD/ Have you been offered Mycelex lozenges or Diflucan?
Within days of stopping the flovent again the rash was back, even worse than the first time. I strongly suspect that the flovent (or I should say stopping the flovent) is the cause of the rash and that the use of the flovent supresses it. The pediatrician had not heard of this and subsequently referred us to a dermatologist. I know if will take several weeks to get an appointment with the dermatologist.
They said start with Xopenex (4-6x a day) and give him Flovent once in the morning and once at night. Do this for about 1-2 days. But doesn't it take weeks for Flovent to kick in? Why would they have me do it like this. How could it help him for only 1-2 days?
Albuterol created a vocal cord problem. Now been put on Flovent Diskus 100mgc and continue the Albuterol. Question, do the Flovent and Advair have the fluticasone propionate ingredient in common? Tonight will be my 1st use of the Flovent.

I am on Plaquenil 400mg Metoprolol Tartrate 50mg BID, Proventil HFA 2puffs every 4 hours, Flovent Diskus 250mcg (started one week ago), Nasonex, Augmentin 875 BID. I have had no problems with my cardio selective Beta Blocker prior to catching this cold. My peak flows are still in the High Yellow Zone and I am maxing out on my rescue inhaler and I haven't been on the Flonase long enough to provide control. But I am not wheezing...just stuck in the yellow zone anywhere from 360-390...

I am 36 and diagnosed with asthma in 1999. Since then, I have used Flovent 4 times daily and my weight increased rapidly; I have gone up 8 sizes and I exercise daily. Two or three years ago, I started experiencing edema in my feet and I soon developed an underactive thyroid. I experienced bipolar-like mood swings and the edema increased. I went to three different endos who were not very helpful.
my pharmacist says I shouldn't be using flovent but ventolin. When I told my Dr. I was very wheezy in the a.m. and at night.....he increased my flovent to b.i.d. who am I supposed to believe????? Also, why not...
s, and has had 2 left thorcatomies over the last 3 years to remove a bronchogenic cyst from her chest cavity. She has had much exposure to prednisone, flovent and other respiratory medications. flovent and serevent. Flovent is a corticosteroid for inflammation and serevent is a long acting bronchodialator. Serevent is the drug that can interfere with heart rhythm.
When I started having symptoms in April, I stopped using Advair and now I only use Flovent. When I saw my pulmonologist I told him that I was only taking flovent (he had given me a prescription for both to use when my asthma got really bad.) He agreed with my decision.

I have a now 22 month old son who was diagnosed last season with what we presume is asthma based on symptoms. It seems to be viral induced. This season came around and sure enough, when he got a cold it went straight to lungs (wheezing, SOB, coughing)
We started inhaled steroid (budesonide), albuterol regimen again. Proved unsuccessful to resolve cough. Round of Orapred proved unsuccessful to resolve cough. After four months we consulted with Pulmonologist.

Went to the doctor 4-5 months ago for sharp chest pains, doctor said it might be a cousin condition of costochondiritis.
Pain continued to be off and on, so I saw a cardiologist and took and EKG which checked out and the doctor said it was also likely a muscle/cartridge problem. A month later I took an xray for a pulmonologist who said I had hyperinflated lungs, a flat diapghram and that I might be experiencing bronchospasms and put me on FloVent and Abuterol.
My 5 yr old son has a chronic wet cough. It started in Sept. In November the pediatrian said he had a sinus infection. The next day he was throwing up and with fever. His office kept telling me to give it 72 hours. I ended going to urgent care. They did an xray and said he had pnemonia. That was 4 months ago. All the other symptoms have gone away but this cough. Doesn't cough at night anymore. It's not like he coughs all the time but when he does it's always wet sounding. No phlem.
What medicines have you or your children been on for this? My 3 year old son was just diagnosed with EE this past August, and he's been using Flovent 1 puff twice a day since then. The last month or two I've noticed that he has been extremely aggressive, agitated, and just plain mean and disrespectful. I am 100% sure it is due to the Flovent. Is there an alternative I should be asking for? Will all of the EE medicines give his just such a reaction since they are all going to be steroids?
