My 9 yr old gets Asthma usually if he's got a cold or through allergies. For example he is allergic to cats and dogs, and contact can give him a flare up.
We were told by his Doc that if anyone gets sick to start treating him upon the first cough.
They said start with Xopenex (4-6x a day) and give him Flovent once in the morning and once at night. Do this for about 1-2 days. But doesn't it take weeks for Flovent to kick in? Why would they have me do it like this.

they say its from acid reflux. Ive tried ALL of the different reflux medications none work. My doc suggested flovent inhaler but my insurance doesn't cover name brands and its like $250. The nasal spray is $15 for me because it is generic and the pharmacy accidentally prescribed it to me. My doc has no opinion on it. Does anyone have any good experience with the nasal spray via the mouth for esophagis problems?
Within days of stopping the flovent again the rash was back, even worse than the first time. I strongly suspect that the flovent (or I should say stopping the flovent) is the cause of the rash and that the use of the flovent supresses it. The pediatrician had not heard of this and subsequently referred us to a dermatologist. I know if will take several weeks to get an appointment with the dermatologist.
my pharmacist says I shouldn't be using flovent but ventolin. When I told my Dr. I was very wheezy in the a.m. and at night.....he increased my flovent to b.i.d. who am I supposed to believe????? Also, why not...
flovent and serevent. Flovent is a corticosteroid for inflammation and serevent is a long acting bronchodialator. Serevent is the drug that can interfere with heart rhythm.

I am taking Flovent, Spiriva and ProAir. Since I've been on the medication I've been Dxed with idiopathic neuropathy, cervical radiculopathy, carpel tunnel. I also have other entrapment symptoms, ulnar ,and I think in my legs as well.
Sometimes I get a burst of nerve pain in my arms and legs a few minutes after using the Flovent and it also causes some tendon swelling. I've shown over and over that I have less pain on lower doses of meds.
Switched up steriod to inhaled Flovent 44 instead of nebulizer and albuterol qid. No results. Chest x-ray and blood allergy (why not at this point) ordered and clear.
Follow up with Pulm realized no coughing at night and diagnosed with Protracted Bronchitis. Treated 3 weeks of Augmentin 500mg BID x three weeks. Nasal and throat cultures test negative except for rhinovirus.
I am 36 and diagnosed with asthma in 1999. Since then, I have used Flovent 4 times daily and my weight increased rapidly; I have gone up 8 sizes and I exercise daily. Two or three years ago, I started experiencing edema in my feet and I soon developed an underactive thyroid. I experienced bipolar-like mood swings and the edema increased. Hi, I will try to keep this as short as possible. I am a female in my 20s and always been healthy. I do not have a history of asthma in my childhood. I have bad chest tightness with occasional shortness of breath. My symptoms are bad some days and gone on other days. My previous doctor prescribed me Flovent. Also, I was prescribed Albuterol for a rescue inhaler. Flovent didn't work so my dose was increased. I am still on it and still not working.
I am using combivent(4x a day ) and serevent diskus 50mcg 2x for my
moderate severe copd, I have just started
Flovent 50mcg inhaler. Is this OK or should I
cutdown on the combivent ?
I am on Plaquenil 400mg Metoprolol Tartrate 50mg BID, Proventil HFA 2puffs every 4 hours, Flovent Diskus 250mcg (started one week ago), Nasonex, Augmentin 875 BID. I have had no problems with my cardio selective Beta Blocker prior to catching this cold. My peak flows are still in the High Yellow Zone and I am maxing out on my rescue inhaler and I haven't been on the Flonase long enough to provide control. But I am not wheezing...just stuck in the yellow zone anywhere from 360-390...
They are suppose to strip my membranes how does that work? Does it hurt.
