Flovent side effects

Common Questions and Answers about Flovent side effects

flovent

Avatar n tn Flovent is a corticosteroid with serious side effects Among them are osteoporosis, overgrowth of Candida albicans, adrenal problems, cataracts, and on and on. In addition to Ventolin you can use natural anti-inflammatories. There are many - vitamin C, vitamin B6, mullein, marshmallow, boswellia, ginger, and on and on. I use a nebulized albuterol combination (Duoneb) as the only prescription. I no longer use inhaled steroids after developing serious problems.
Avatar f tn I am NO doctor, simply a fellow asthma sufferer - but I definitely think the Flovent IS causing Cushing's. You actually are on DOUBLE the recommended dose of the Flovent - normally is it only used twice a day. It's very important, both because of the high dose you've been on and the amount of time you've been on it, that you taper your dose of the Flovent slowly and do not stop it abruptly. Doing so could cause many major problems.
Avatar m tn Just for the record, corticosteroids can have very serious side effects. They can cause systemic candidiasis and adrenal dysfunction. Steroids almost did me in. In their place I turned to natural anti-inflammatories. No side effects.
Avatar f tn Can you tell me if it is giving me Flovent side effects or are the chills from the turmeric? I take 4 puffs 44mcg Flovent 2x day so could easily take less of that. Do you think it is safe for me to take the turmeric? My doctor seems open to alternative treatments.
312330 tn?1245176752 Are any of you taking theophylline for your asthma? If so, have you had a lot of side effects from it? My doc is considering trying this, just looking for people's experience.
Avatar m tn Hi, I have a daughter with EE, she was diagnosed 3 years ago, she is 9 now and she been on Singluar for the last 3 years which has helped a lot and there are no side effects (especially no agression). We are just starting to have problems again now and we are off to the Gastro again in a couple of weeks, but the Singluar was a great drug for her.
Avatar f tn If you use your Flovent with a spacer, that will help to reduce any side effects you may have. However, I'm really quite surprised that you aren't on a long acting bronchodilator along with your inhaled steroid, it is more effective then combining two steroid inhalers together. What sort of allergy symptoms are you having to your inhalers? Wheezing after taking it? Or developing hives?
Avatar m tn I guess you asked the pulmonologist if the itching could be due to the medications? Medications have, unfortunately, a lot of side effects, and some times they help with something but mess up something else.
Avatar f tn I would talk to your doctor about the side effects - advair has some nasty side effects that can be serious depending on age, health, other medications etc. There can be cardiac related things going on related to the medication or simple heartburn from it but it's better safe than sorry.
Avatar n tn Severent (salmeterol) can have very serious side effects, death being the most notable. Flovent is a corticosteroid. Read the FDA warnings of February 2010. Like you I have moderately severe COPD. I use Duoneb (similar to combivent) in a nebulizer and find it very helpful. I discontinued the use of Advair (which is basically a combination of Serevent and Flovent) because it almost killed me (choking). It also caused adrenal fatigue, was harming my eyes, and was subverting my immune system.
Avatar f tn So frustrating if this turns out to be an undocumented side effect of stopping flovent.
Avatar n tn When steroid side effects occur, they may linger for weeks or even months after the medicine has been stopped.
Avatar f tn Do not wait to see if the side effects subside. There are several reasons why you may be having side-effects of this nature. The solution may be very simple. CALL YOUR DOCTOR TODAY.
1491064 tn?1288394052 There are some medications that can cause some long term side effects (which may mitigate in time) such as tardive dyskinesia (a specific long term movement disorder for more information google "Patient Education Tardive Dyskinesia" note as the site itself says "some of these medications may be medically necessary") one variant of which is tardive tourettism which causes a person to have tics that can interfere with speech.
Avatar f tn I use a slightly hypertonic saline which I make myself and nebulize that. The result is not as dramatic, but it is more gentle and there are no side effects. (There are with acetylcysteine.
Avatar f tn As of today he is on flovent, zyrtec and flounsase. And he still has a wet cough after all these months. The pediatrician isn't much help. I took him to an allergerist and he was only alllergic to dust mites. I took him to the ear, nose and throat dr. and he said he wouldn't do anything different then what the allergist is doing (he did not do an xray). The allergist is not saying if he has asthma, not sure I guess. Today he suggested to take off flovent and start taking singulair.
Avatar n tn The cough cleared up for the most part, as did the wheeze, but the meds had serious side effects – I stopped the Levaquin after 8 doses, because it was making me depressed and exhausted, which I still am. I am also still coughing a bit (producing a little mucus), and feel short of breath, but my lung function is at 92% and I have optimal peak flow (475). I’ve cut back my meds to 220mg flovent twice a day, and albuterol when necessary. 1.
Avatar f tn They said start with Xopenex (4-6x a day) and give him Flovent once in the morning and once at night. Do this for about 1-2 days. But doesn't it take weeks for Flovent to kick in? Why would they have me do it like this. How could it help him for only 1-2 days?

Avatar n tn If exercise induced asthma perhaps the pro-air is helping before you exercise .. not really sure. Maybe a different type of dual inhaler may work better w/o side effects ... just my two cents Welcome!
Avatar n tn this situation, however, when I asked what the long term or short term affects of the meds were, she told us none. We have found so much information stating that there are side effects, and from this great forum, we are seeing the reality is that those on the meds are suffering from a wide range of side affects. Seeing the reality of those who have been on the meds is reaffirming that we wish to seek an alternative way to treat this.
Avatar f tn I take more when I have bad attacks (maximum of 10 mg/day) and less when I just have wheezing (minimum of 3 mg/day) There are no side effects for me except having difficulty sleeping sometimes. I take 3mg of melatonin to address that. My question is, how long can I be taking this dosage? Indefinitely till I have just have some wheezing and mild attacks?
1425157 tn?1311651679 i could call the doc and ask him/her if there is anything out there on the market that they can prescribe to you to keep your bronchials open w. no side effects of the adrenaline rushes....you have to weigh out the benefits and what is more acute and has to be dealt with and not getting enough air to me take priority over an occasional fast heart however you want to make sure that the doc has okayed you to take an aspirin if you are going thru this to ward off the threat of clotting....
Avatar f tn Albuterol created a vocal cord problem. Now been put on Flovent Diskus 100mgc and continue the Albuterol. Question, do the Flovent and Advair have the fluticasone propionate ingredient in common? Tonight will be my 1st use of the Flovent. Concerned that I may have a mitral valve problem plus the emphysema. My symptoms of attack are severe shortness of breath, high heart rate, and the immediate need to urinate. Does anyone have anything similar to this?
Avatar f tn Dr. insists side effects will go away tho and not to stop, so I am trying to give it a go! Ive only been on it 3 days and I am not loving it, But I did notice after I brushed this morning any white stuff was gone. (I allways brush my tounge!

She called her doctor, told him this was happening and he said "OK". That was it, nothing more!!!
