I have noticed since I began taking fenofibrate that I experience cloudy urine after I eat certain foods. It only happens the first time I uninate after eating these foods and becomes clear thereafter. It seems that it is triggered with creamy and greasy foods. Is there cause for concern?

I take fenofibrate 160mgm along with lovastatin 40mgm daily. Could they be causing muscle pains all over my body?

Hi and sorry you have these problems. The Fenofibrate can cause bloating indigestion, stomach pain, and increased liver enzymes or liver problems in addition to other side effects. The Zetia can cause some of these too. Have they tested your liver enzymes yet? If so were they normal? There are other drugs for lowering cholesterol and triglycerides that work as well. You can ask him to have you try Lipitor (generic) and there is now a generic Niaspan. I know because my husband is on it.
Do you talk about things with your doctor, barbaranna, or do you just listen to what he says, then leave and do something else? Some doctors are hard to have a dialogue with; they just issue edicts and don't explain. If your doctor is like this, perhaps he isn't the doctor for you. But you also have a responsibility to communicate to him what works and what doesn't. Stomach problems are no fun, but there are other options besides suffering them or discontinuing the meds.
Thanks for the post, good info. Doctor wants to put me on either tri-cor, trilipix, or antara in addition to the simvastatin. Need to call my insurance to see what co-pays would be. I've really changed my diet and without taking supplements or vitamins I don't think I would be able to do much more as far as diet. I've cut fast food to maybe once a month and I watch what I eat there, no cheese or mayo on anything. Always use wheat bread and rarely eat beef.
Your numbers are high, but you need to look at the breakdown. First off, your TGL's should be under 150. Not hard, just cut out the empty carbs like breads, sugars, pastas etc. Also, drinking will elevate your TGL's so don't over do it. You could start on a Fenofibrate like Tricor to lower your TGL's it works well. A statin will not really do that much.
Then again in Feb 2012 his TGL was 289.He took medicine fenofibrate for about a month. His TGL in June2012 was 319 and in Dec 2012 was 370. But weight was 66.5kg .He took again fenofibrate for 1.5 months and with diet strictly avoiding sugar and low fat almost fat free .
Now in March2013 the TGL level is down by about 100 points but again in the last 2.5 months there has been weight loss and wt is down to 63.8 ie about 64 kg. Weight reduced by 2 kg in such a short time again. WHY?
doctor has adviced me to take rosuvastatin and fenofibrate tablets.can you please tell me whether it helps to reduce weight?
The physician has always just told him to lose weight and eight right. He does not. He heats McDonalds, Hardees, Arbys, etc. up to 3 times per day. He is scheduled to have a rotater cuff repair the 1st of December. What are the risks of operating on him without lowering these levels. By the way, his HDL and LDL cannot be calculated due to the elevated Chol. and Tri. Thanks.
I had diarrhea, when wiping I saw what I usually do, completely normal. But once I stood up to flush, my stool was completely normal still, (as in diarrhea normal) but there was a dark reddish color in the entirety of the water, I did have something with quite a bit of barbeque sauce today, which I normally don't have that much with anything, it's a redd-ish brown color, Could that be it? Meds I am currently on are levothyroxine and fenofibrate.
The pains are bearable but it is if I over did exercise and it hurts constant.. My dr told me to come off the Lipitor, so what should I take.?. My body seem to be producing the cholesterol, and the level of the choleserol is down to 179 but the Triglycerides are 259, hence the reason for the crestor and lipitor.. Can anyone suggest anything..
s are easy to lower, cut back on all sugars, breads, pastas and alcohol, that usually is enough. If not, you can try a Fenofibrate which is a very effective drug.
Hi I was recently prescribed Fenofibrate to help reduce my high cholesterol levels etc... after a blood test.
I have been doing some digging around regarding the drug and it says I should not be taking it if one has Hep B.
I haven't found what the reasons are so I was wondering if someone could elaborate why one should not be taking it if one has Hep B.

I have been on statins from the age of 39 from one Med to another because my numbers would not come all the way down to normal I got a new Dr last year and he changed all my meds, started with lipitor 40mg vit d 50.000 units a weeks allopurinol.
I have been to a neurologist and had an EMG, but still have now conclusion to what is causing this. My neurologist has me on 800 mg of Gabapentin per day to help with the tingling and burning sensations, which helps some, but not a lot.
You get the picture. Just recently i started feeling like a spasm or rumbling in the center of my chest. I do have what i call a bad case of anxiety. I don't take anything for that. I try to deal with it the best i can.
I just had a nuclear stress test and had a ultra sound of my carotid artery and wore a monitor for 2 weeks. Everything is great. But i still get this spam feeling that feels like heart paps.
