315318 tn?1353251800 Being a diabetic is also an issue with the use of a fenofibrate as the combined therapy does not appear to be any more effective than a statin alone. You may want to ask your doctor about a less powerful statin than Crestor to use along with a fenofibrate, perhaps a generic Zocor (simvastatin) at the same dosage. This may lessen the side effect. The easiest way to control TGLs is to eliminate empty carbs from your diet like breads, pastas and sugars.
Avatar n tn Ever since I started taking Zetia and Fenofibrate together as recommended by my DR, I have put on pounds, am more bloated around the belly,a nd have persistent chest pains. I noticed this has occurred ever since I have been on cholesterol lowering meds, but is more noticeable in the past year with the new combination of drugs. I mentioned this to my DR and he said I need the drugs because of my High Cholesterol. What do you think?
315318 tn?1353251800 It also does not relate to heart disease directly. However, it relates to a drug I take for cardio-vascular problem but the more tangible result seems to be in diabetes control. In a nutshell, it just proves that you can not treat body parts in isolation ! I am a diabetic on insulin. Recently , I was prescribed a fenofibrate (Trilipix 135 mg) along with Crestor. My cardio wanted this for helping in getting my triglycerides down.
Avatar f tn t just listen to him and do what I want either, but I know my own body I would say better than he does. It started when he said I would need to take the Fenofibrate meds. When I went to pick them up the pharmacist said there may be a interaction from this med and the Simvastatin. The Dr. did tell me that I may have more pain in my muscles than I do now. I told him that I was having pain in my thighs and hip. When the pharmacist said that, it made me scared to take both meds but yet the Dr.
Avatar n tn took me off Crestor last month but the pain returned within a few days, although not as intense as it was prior to my stopping Crestor. I took myself off fenofibrate just a couple of days ago and "Wow" what a difference! I can actually sleep at night and notice that the pain is dissipating more and more each day. Since I cannot eat much meat (digestive issues) and really don't eat foods high in cholesterol, I believe I'll be just fine!
Avatar n tn Your numbers are high, but you need to look at the breakdown. First off, your TGL's should be under 150. Not hard, just cut out the empty carbs like breads, sugars, pastas etc. Also, drinking will elevate your TGL's so don't over do it. You could start on a Fenofibrate like Tricor to lower your TGL's it works well. A statin will not really do that much.
Avatar f tn Never worked for me but, it does for some so definitely worth a try.

Avatar n tn Over the last 8 months i stopped taking the tri-cor because insurance no longer covered it and I decreased my simvastatin to 20mg. At the same time in increased my fiber significantly (metemucil and high fiber cereal daily) and began taking one 1000mg of fish oil each day. Lost a few pounds as well, I'm 41, 5'10" and 173lbs non-smoker. I got my test results back and my total cholesterol went down from 165 on 40mg of simvastatin/tri-cor to 150 on 20mg of simvastatin only.
Avatar n tn Now in June-Jul 2011 we had a routine physical exam with all blood work. His TGL levels showed 290 . He was advised a medicine but did not take as doc said not very necessary. His wt was recorded 71kg. Now in Aug-Sep2011 for some other complaint (his RA factor was positive) and he used to play vigorous badminton for 2-3 hours daily for around 6months before and there was pain in legs. So for that, his weight got recorded and shockingly it had reduced to 66-67kg.
Avatar f tn Do not take another one. If you threw it up, then you threw it up. It safer to just take a day off from prenatals rather than taking another one and possibly having to go to the hospital for to many minerals and vitamins .
Avatar f tn Would acupuncture work for anxiety and dizziness? Does it hurt or what does a person feel? Im a nervous reck.. Cause Im scared to. Be on meds..
Avatar f tn According to the Lyrica website you could feel relief as soon as one week, but for some people it may take longer. It also depends on how high your dosage is right now. Like every treatment, everyone is different. Lyrica was not for me. I would be grateful if someone on the forum would add to this post with their Lyrica experiences. Tuffycup, please tell us what dosage you are currently at and how long you've been on it so we can best advise you.
