Avatar n tn doctor has adviced me to take rosuvastatin and fenofibrate tablets.can you please tell me whether it helps to reduce weight?
315318 tn?1353251800 Your question raised my curiosity and after a short research, my understanding is that it is not the fenofibrate but the rosuvastatin (Crestor) the one that can give you this effect. See this: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20507274 Also it seems that insulin sensitivity gets better as the endothelial functions gets better and this is one of the effects of the statins, see this: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.
Avatar f tn The dose is Rosvin F (fenofibrate 145 mg and Rosuvastatin 10 mg) daily one time. Muscle pain and headache is symptoms.
Avatar m tn I have noticed since I began taking fenofibrate that I experience cloudy urine after I eat certain foods. It only happens the first time I uninate after eating these foods and becomes clear thereafter. It seems that it is triggered with creamy and greasy foods. Is there cause for concern? Thank you.
Avatar n tn Fenofibrate in combination with a Statin drug can cause severe Rhabdomyolysis. I know because I have gone through it. My muscle pain got so severe that I couldn't even move my arms and I wound up in the ER with kidney (also a muscle) pain so severe, I was climbing the walls.
Avatar n tn However, there is also the risk of liver inflammation due to the medicine Crestor® (rosuvastatin) and it is conceivable that there could be an additive effect of Crestor® (rosuvastatin) and INH. In addition, niacin may increase the risk of muscle disease called myopathy when used with Crestor® (rosuvastatin). Crestor® (rosuvastatin) significantly increases the INR (enhances the effect of Coumadin to make your blood “thinner” than it would be alone.
Avatar n tn Ever since I started taking Zetia and Fenofibrate together as recommended by my DR, I have put on pounds, am more bloated around the belly,a nd have persistent chest pains. I noticed this has occurred ever since I have been on cholesterol lowering meds, but is more noticeable in the past year with the new combination of drugs. I mentioned this to my DR and he said I need the drugs because of my High Cholesterol. What do you think?
Avatar m tn my mother,55y, she got her lab result with rising in cholesterol and triglyceride about 3month ago. she started to take fenofibrate 200mg once a day. and now new lab result show normal range of all types of fat. does she need to continue with a maintenance dose of fenofibrate or it isnt necessary?
Avatar f tn The tablet is a combination of Rosuvastatin and Fenofibrate. As such, it lowers BOTH LDL or and triglycerides (which will bring down your total cholesterol). Exercise or any physical activity is supposed to help with HDL. Also factoring into the ratio. Lifestyle things along with medication can be very beneficial. Did they give you liver function testing prior to starting. As to side effects, there is a good chance you won't have any.
1580703 tn?1651904887 ve read phosphatidylcholine (aka Lecithin) is the best choline supplement for the liver. There are choline chloride and choline bitartrate supplements available but I've read these can actually stress the liver due to the extremely high, but short lived blood levels taking choline in this way generate. Lecithin delivers a more consistent level of choline in a form the liver can work with, so you might want to research this for yourself.
401095 tn?1351391770 Side Effects Rarely, low blood pressure may result from high, prolonged doses of choline. Other side effects attributed to lecithin or choline are general gastrointestinal upset. Choline has been known to give breath, sweat, or urine a fishy odor when it is taken in high amounts.
Avatar n tn Your numbers are high, but you need to look at the breakdown. First off, your TGL's should be under 150. Not hard, just cut out the empty carbs like breads, sugars, pastas etc. Also, drinking will elevate your TGL's so don't over do it. You could start on a Fenofibrate like Tricor to lower your TGL's it works well. A statin will not really do that much.
Avatar m tn If it happens again it might be from your lack of choline levels when taking piracetam. I read that choline can reduce the headaches from piracetam usage at www.smartdrugsforthought.com/what-is-piracetam They explain the usage of choline when taking piracetam. If that doesn't help you might be low on glutamate or calcium levels. Consult with your doctor if if continues even after using these simple resolutions. Take care my friend.
Avatar m tn At some point, something I took CDP Choline (also known as Citicoline) or Choline Bitartrate and they left me PERMANENTLY UNAFFECTED by herbs/drugs and permanently disabled me with the worst chronic fatigue of my life. As a matter of fact, some drugs and herbs even have the opposite effects than intended now, and I can barely move I'm so fatigued. No supplements, herbs, or drugs seem to have the intended effects, and I cannot reverse the effect back to how things were.
Avatar f tn I had another thought. A deficiency of choline can result in a fatty liver and higher cholesterol levels. Choline is needed for proper liver function, and it aids hormone production. It minimizes excess fat in the liver because it helps with fat and cholesterol metabolism. Egg yolks, meat and legumes have a significant amount of choline, and even whole-grain cereals, so I don't know what the likelihood of a deficiency would be, perhaps more so with vegetarians.
5536886 tn?1455827346 A recent study was just released that choline is a pretty essential part of a pregnancy diet- or it should be, as it's reported that women who had 930 mg of choline in their diets, had children with higher IQ's- so how do you get that? One great way is to start of your day with eggs, bacon, and sausage for breakfast. What do you think of this study? Are you eating a breakfast that includes eggs, bacon, or sausage? Do you think you will start?
Avatar n tn You can google the warnings and side effects of that one. I also take Tricor for my hyperlipidemia. But that is a fenofibrate, not a statin. Have you ever tried the grandfather of statins, Lipitor? Talk to your doctor and get the straight answers.
Avatar m tn The authors concluded that, in apparently healthy persons with elevated C-reactive protein levels, rosuvastatin (Crestor) significantly reduced the incidence of major cardiovascular events. Their much-publicized claim, that this statin lowers the risk of heart attack by approximately one half, is technically correct though highly misleading. The reported annual incidence of coronary events was 37 people in 10,000 (controls) and 17 people in 10,000 (treated).
Avatar n tn Hi Driven, you need to go through them and see for your self about the side effects, but there a lot of drugs out that cause ED as side effects, if yoiu dont now have your drug data sheets anymore just google them.
Avatar m tn does NAC help for liver diseases also choline, milk thistle?
Avatar m tn Any drug that affects brain neurotransmitters can have unusual consequences, but this is probably a very rare side effect if it exists. Antidepressants do, however, and this is unknown to most users and doctors, usually affect choline receptors, and choline is very important to normal brain function including cognitive ability. Paxil is the strongest of all of them, I think, in its affinity for choline receptors.
527657 tn?1214051850 Yeah, that's basically right, but you might not necessarily feel like you have none in your body because it's still used to having it there and doesn't forget that quickly. As I understand it, at least part of what happens with all these tricyclics and ssris and such is that many serotonin receptors stop functioning while we're on the meds because they're no longer needed, but when we discontinue the meds they start to wake up again.
