I now have a serious sinus infection and my doctor cannot find an antibiotic to treat the infection that does not cause either hives or diarrhea. I need help. Below are the antibiotics that I cannot take but can I take??? penicillen, minocin, keflex,erthromicin levaguin ceftin, cepro,omnicef So what is left? Please help me.

I'm not sure how long my LLMD is proposing to treat me. I started on a four day coctail of flagyl, biaxin, and omnicef. That was fun. now on omnicef which seems to be somewhat helping except the days with the herx which are terribel but a means to an end. I'm not sure about any co-infections. The doctor assistant mentioned doing some parasite testing via stool sampling.

Hi all, wondering if you have come across information indicating that flagyl can treat babesia at the same time it's treating Lyme. I understand it's also a antiparasitic, so not sure if that counts. If anyone knows or has heard their LLMD mention this please let me know. I just took my first dose of Flagyl, keeping my fingers crossed that I see some fantastic results!

A few things are confusing me. I have 5 days left on the Omnicef. The folliculitis does seem to be clearing up, but I'm worried that perhaps the Impetigo isn't, or maybe it is something different entirely. Thanks Dr.

Two out of three urine samples were positive for the Lyme bacteria. My doc prescribed omnicef about two weeks ago and as of yesterday, I started feeling awful again. He thinks its a herx. I've been on multiple abx for about 9 months. Anyway, he also started me on Flagyl today along with the omnicef. He said to start the Flagyl once the herx is over. He said if the Flagyl doesn't work then he will start IV abx. I'm a wreck.

Hello my 12 year old was taking omnicef for a ear infection and 10 days into it she got hives all over her body and they come and go and really ichy do you think it's from the Omnicef?

I have taken 10 days of Omnicef and most recently(this week) i just finished 250mg Zpack but I still have the discharge. Back in November I notice the gland behind my right ear was swollen. For the past week, my neck is tight under my ears and jaw and under my armpits. Today I noticed the gland in my right groin is rock hard and the size of a large pea. I cannot feel the left groin gland. It does not hurt to touch but it makes it uncomfortable to sit and have some minor testicular pain.

Others here can respond, but I'm not aware of any test or method of knowing for sure. I believe it's a judgment based on symptoms of how bad the 'brain fog' is in someone with Lyme and related infections. Some people have more symptoms in the head, others in the body, some in both.

I still was not feeling well, so went to the dr. again on Saturday and she said I was really congested and had tonsillitis and gave me Omnicef. Today is Wedensday and I am really not feeling that much better and still have the white patch on my tonsil. Shouldn't I be feeling better by now?

I have had a round of Avelox a few weeks ago and recently Omnicef 600mg/day for 10 days and still have discharge. Question, wouldn't these antibiotics be affective against NGU, Chlamydia or Gonnorrhea? Thanks for the help.

Ditto what Keith_T says: probiotics are needed to put back the 'good bacteria' that the antibiotics have wiped out along with the 'bad [Lyme] bacteria. My Lyme doc insisted that we take probiotics while on such a sustained course of antbiotic treatment, because antibiotics kill not only the bad (Lyme) bacteria, but also the good [probiotic] bacteria.

I took her to her pediatrician that same day where they did a strep test which came back negative, prescribed omnicef and sent us home. The next day her temperature just kept skyrocketing, getting up to 106. That night I took her to the ER at Children's in Dallas where they ran another strep test, mono, flu, and cbc. Her mono, strep, and flu all came back negative. Her white blood count was at 21. They gave her a shot of rocephin, told us to continue the omnicef, sent us home.

When I google these tests together and the illnesses all together auto immune diseases, mostly Juvinille Rheumatoid Arthritus. Does anyone have experience with this? Does this match the symptoms? Please help me, any answers will be benificial!

She is now on 14 days of omnicef at 4.5ml of 250mg/5ml strength. She has received since the 14th omnicef 5ml of 150 (whatever the lower strength is)mg/5ml that was a 10 days script that she took 5 of because they then started rocephin injections on the 20th.
