Common Questions and Answers about Omnicef used to treat

omnicef

Avatar f tn I'm not sure how long my LLMD is proposing to treat me. I started on a four day coctail of flagyl, biaxin, and omnicef. That was fun. now on omnicef which seems to be somewhat helping except the days with the herx which are terribel but a means to an end. I'm not sure about any co-infections. The doctor assistant mentioned doing some parasite testing via stool sampling.
Avatar f tn I now have a serious sinus infection and my doctor cannot find an antibiotic to treat the infection that does not cause either hives or diarrhea. I need help. Below are the antibiotics that I cannot take but can I take??? penicillen, minocin, keflex, erthromicin levaguin ceftin, cepro, omnicef So what is left? Please help me.
Avatar m tn My 4 yr.old son had an allergic reaction to Omnicef. Hives all over and swollen hands, arms and feet. It's been 18 days and still gets a slight case of the hives . Within the last week( 3 times) he's had leg pain(muscel pain) joint pain. He has a hard time walking, usually the next day he can, it lasts anywhere from 12-24 hours. The 3 times he's had the leg pain he's either been swimming or riding a bike, took him to the hospital, blood work, x-rays and urine all came back fine.
Avatar f tn I see one of the side effects are lowed white blood cells and right now mine are 2.9. Idk why theyre so low. Prob the lyme..? I am not used to have a LOW white count..
Avatar n tn I have a question. Are drugs in the benzo family ever used to treat seizures? As in Xanax, Klonopin, Valium, Ativan, Restoril, etc? I have simple partial seizures and was on xanax on an "as needed" basis to control some nervousness about going back to college. I was on it for about 2 months. I started realizing I got less of my sensory and motor seizures which have always been uncontrollable since I started getting them back in 2000.
Avatar f tn I cannot take Rifampin because it contains Omnicef which I am allergic to, so I should be ok right?
Avatar f tn ve heard that Plaq. is often used to treat Babesiosis. I have not lab tests supporting Babs, but my LLMD has suspected it (or something else) in addition to Bart and Lyme, each for which I had some (though weak) laboratory evidence. I'm wary of posting too much treatment detail (color me paranoid), but I've been pusling antibiotic therapy using mino, zith, and factive (with detours using bactrim or plaquenil).
Avatar f tn Hello there and thanks for taking the time to read my question, I am a female age 33 years old and up until this year my bloodwork has always been perfectly normal. In November my Gynecologist told me that my Vitamin D levels were low and prescribed Vitamin D for me to take for 10 days. I did that like I was supposed to and haven't been to the doctor until this month. But to recap here is the problems I have been noticing. In March, I noticed that my feet and hands were itching.
Avatar f tn Thanks mojogal. What antibiotics did you use to treat lyme? I heard doxycycline can make it worse. My LLMD suspects bartonella since I have the swollen glands, rashes, shin pain, etc.
Avatar n tn About 1 year ago I as given Omnicef for a bacterial infection. After 3 days of tumultuous diarrhea, I finally stopped this drug but not soon enough. Ever since then, I have had stomach problems. It first started out as irregular and often BM’s, and then progressed to A constant gnawing or burning between my breastbone and navel in addition to erratic BM’s and gas, bloating, and just an overall lousy feeling within the digestive system.

377012 tn?1283965435 Allergy could predispose your son to recurrent ear, nose and sinus infection, but that should not be assumed. His doctors might want to check to be sure he does not have some type of immunodeficiency. These immunodeficiency states can be transient, as with transient hypogammaglobulinemia of Infancy, congenital or acquired. Selective Immunoglobulin A (IgA) deficiency is uncommon but not rare and can predispose to ear and sinus infections.
373119 tn?1206933406 She is now on 14 days of omnicef at 4.5ml of 250mg/5ml strength. She has received since the 14th omnicef 5ml of 150 (whatever the lower strength is)mg/5ml that was a 10 days script that she took 5 of because they then started rocephin injections on the 20th. The original omnicef was for an ear infection. That was clear when she went in on the 19th and they rocephin (1gm) injections were started due to the prolonged fever (since the 8th). She had three 1 gm injections..
1265027 tn?1284839951 his pediatrician prescribed Omnicef for severe ear infections. She said there was a 5% chance hed be allergic to that but she wanted to try it out. well, he was allergic. After 3 doses he broke out in HIVES all over his face and scalp scratching and screaming in a way no child ought to scream. I immediately gave him benadryl and stopped the meds (wed at 9am was the last dose) it is now friday afternoon he has no fever but is still breaking out in some hives. they go away on their own.
Avatar m tn I am not up to date on what the current meds are commonly used, but others here may have comments about their experiences. (My only comment about doxy is that it I have read that doxy is generally NOT useful against Lyme unless almost immediately after the infection occurs. You may want to get a second opinion from another Lyme doc, and you don't need to tell Doc #1 that you are getting a look-see from another doc.
Avatar n tn I was told to continue Omnicef for 6 more days and doxycycline for another 3 weeks and then they will see. I will definitely print out your comments and see if I can have some of the test done.
Avatar n tn I am concerned about all of the antibitics he has had. We have been referred to an ENT. Do you think the ENT will say that he has to have to have TONSILS or ADNOIDS removed or BOTH? If, so should I seek a second opinion? Thanks!
Avatar f tn Her white blood count was at 21. They gave her a shot of rocephin, told us to continue the omnicef, sent us home. There was no improvement on Friday and her temperature kept rising. That Saturday I took her the ER at Medical City in Dallas. There they ran another set of the same tests, all coming back negative, her blood count was at 12. Said it was likely a viral infection and sent us back home.
Avatar n tn He was put on amoxil and had an allergic reaction so he has been taking omnicef. The Dr told us this week that the omnicef has not done anything and that he was going to give him a round of antibiotic shots. So far my son has had 2 of the 3 shots. My first question is how quickly do these shots work? My other question is: Is there some underlying problem that is causing these ear infections, something more serious? He has not had any other type of infection i.e.
Avatar n tn t seem to want to go away and the doctors said there was nothing they could do for it. Then to add insult to injury when I took her for her 4 month check(one week later) up they discovered she had an ear infection and was wheezing a bit when she breathed. So now she is back on the antibiotic omnicef AND breathing treatments(which don't seem to be working in my opinion) and still as stuffy in the nose as can been. This has been just a nightmare to me as I just want her to be healthy.
Avatar f tn I experience swollen eyelids every now and then but have been unable to pinpoint it to any kind of food or medication. It usually starts off like the size of a pea somewhere on my eyelid, doesn't hurt but is uncomfortable for my eyelid crease when my eye is open. If i worry about it, the swelling increases and takes over my entire eyelid. I take phenergan which knocks me out and sleep it off or another antihistamine.
Avatar f tn Now, I finally seem to be getting enough ahead in that I can treat and tolerate it. Bad days still happen, but seem to be less and less severe. I recently had some of my best health days in 2 years. As for a 2nd opinion, I did the same. After about 7 months I sought the opinion of a second LLMD, because I was concerned that things were moving too slow.
