Avatar n tn - why a clot should form in my heart when the muscles were damaged six years back and considering that I am on aspirin+clopidogrel which too have anti clotting function. - warfarin may be slightly better as compared to aspirin+ clopidogrel, but in my case with no AF, does it makes sense getting into this risky business of conatantly monitoring of INR and fear of bleeding. - I have seen on net some other drugs in market which are equally good as warfarin with lower risk of bleeding.
Avatar n tn If a patient on warfarin has a condition, such as a stomach ulcer, that makes anticoagulation undesirable, then any bleeding of the ulcer might be considered a side effect of warfarin. There is also an unusual but real conditon called warfarin necrosis, in which the skin ulcerates and sloughs off, but warfarin necrosis is pretty much unmistakable, and it doesn't sound like your father has that.
1069105 tn?1256700412 What should be the proper treatment regimen? Shouldn’t she be taking BP meds other than statins, especially while on Warfarin? And aren’t blood thinners possibly contra-indicated by her history? Could her reduction in pain on the shoulder cause by the anti-inflammatory effect of the statin ? I have read numerous articles regarding the dangers of statins and am very concerned.
356518 tn?1322263642 potential misuse, abuse, and overdose), tumor necrosis factor (TNF) blockers (cancers in young adults and children), Cymbalta (urinary retention), and Heparin (anaphylactic-type reactions).
1488195 tn?1288153991 I'm 85 and have been on Warfarin for 3 years. #1 - Is this the best treatment? #2 - Even taking thinners, can I stroke out at any time?
341137 tn?1287305043 Hi, everything I read seems to be aimed at Low grade DCIS, is the treatment the same if it has high grade with necrosis. Is the prognosis the same? At what rate does a tumour grow if it is high grade versus low grade - is it double? What is the cure percentage? for both? or is there no cure? just control?
Avatar m tn take your meds - if you have permanent AF I would guess you're on a beta blocker, and warfarin or aspirin ? Xarelto is a newer warfarin alternative but not if you have had valve problems. My wife has had AF for about 10 years and takes these meds and just lives with it. As itdood says, just do the best you can and don't let it control your life. Don't worry about a single episode of VT, it probably won't happen again.
Avatar m tn Following the new findings in mouse models, the Imperial College London researchers are now embarking on a clinical trial of warfarin as a treatment for people with Hepatitis C, funded by the Medical Research Council (MRC). There are an estimated 300,000 people in the UK with chronic Hepatitis C. The disease progresses much more quickly in some patients than in others and around one in five of those infected will develop cirrhosis.

979080 tn?1323433639 Prilosec can cause fatal liver rot (necrosis), fatal pancreatitis, headache, back pain, hair loss, toxic epidermal necrolysis (a condition where your skin becomes red and scaly, then finally, painfully oozes and peels off), or it can stop the production of blood cells. Like Tagamet, Prilosec can severely distort or compromise the detoxification of other drugs. http://ezinearticles.com/?
Avatar n tn am a 46 yo female who is 6 years post treatment for T1bN0M0 breast cancer. I was treated with lumpectomy followed by radiation and hormonal therapy. I have had regular mammograms since my treatment and was excited when I hit my 5 year milestone last year. This year when I went for my annual mammo there was an increased density and architectural distortion at the level of the prior surgery.
Avatar f tn My husband is 1a with cirrhosis and is on sovaldi + ribavirin treatment (now in week 10). He has symptoms of decompensation (HE and portal hypertension). The treatment has increased his episodes of HE so it hasn't been easy for him but he is undetected for the virus and all his labwork has improved greatly. This has prevented his liver from decompensating further. He has no edema, no ascites and no varices.
Avatar f tn Eliquis which belongs to a class of drugs called Factor Xa inhibitors is a new generation oral anticoagulant / blood thinning drug and is expected to replace warfarin the current gold standard treatment for stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation. The clinical data on Eliquis in atrial fibrillation is most impressive, when compared to Xarelto or Pradaxa.
341137 tn?1287305043 I can only help you with the fat necrosis, having had that. Supposedly, the main cause of fat necrosis is trauma to the breast. The location of the fat necrosis often suggests that seatbelts are one of the sources of the trauma. It also turns up in plastic surgery. Usually only about 50% of people remember a specific trauma to the area. Anyway, it tends to go through a couple of stages as it heals. The first stage may show some sort of smooth-edged lesion.
Avatar n tn I recently had a tummy tuck and as a result have skin necrosis right above the pubic area. I am not or never have been a smoker. What could have caused this and how long will it take to heal? This discussion is related to swelling after tummy tuck.
Avatar f tn When brain tumors are treated with radiation therapy, there is always a risk of radiation-induced necrosis of healthy brain tissue. Insidious and potentially fatal, radiation necrosis of the brain may develop months or even years after irradiation. This poorly understood side effect can occur even when the most stringent measures are taken to avoid exposing healthy tissue to harmful levels of radiation.
Avatar f tn After looking at my recent x rays he has informed me that I have Avascular Necrosis in both knees. My left knee joint has collapsed and the right one is heading for collapse. Can you tell me if Avascular Necrosis is a form of Arthritis? If so what do you get first Osteoarthritis or Avascular Necrosis?I am 55 years old.
738075 tn?1330575844 OK, so I'm recovering from my 3rd attack this year, and last Friday I started having R ankle and leg pain. I figured I had CRPS from all the spasms in my legs. But Nooooo - You ready for this? Deep Venous Thrombosis!! Sheesh, so now I'm on rat poison (Warfarin) for the next 6 months on top of everything else! I really don't think this year can get much worse - thank goodness it's almost over!
Avatar m tn ll be on propafenon or rhythmol to help keep me there. I take coumadin (warfarin) but then I am in permanent AFib... and suffer some of the same symptoms you mention... I am 70.
Avatar f tn My only concern is.... what if my surgeon is putting off any aggressive treatment (Hospital, another surgery, etc) for more than 90 days (which is the only time that I have to be covered financially under the same bill). If he tells me in 4 months that he wants to hospitalize me, then I will have to cover additional costs that I wouldn't have if he were to hospitalize me now. On the other hand, I do not want to risk infection or shape deformity. I am so concerned and scared.
1013028 tn?1250923267 Thrombosis can be prevented with heparin administration and treated with heparin and warfarin. If clots occur heparin followed by warfarin ( coumadin )is usually prescribed. Higher-than-usual doses of warfarin may be needed. Warfarin or Coumadin is prescribed to prevent strokes arising from atrial fibrillation and DVTs forming in the legs usually.
