Avatar n tn - why a clot should form in my heart when the muscles were damaged six years back and considering that I am on aspirin+clopidogrel which too have anti clotting function. - warfarin may be slightly better as compared to aspirin+ clopidogrel, but in my case with no AF, does it makes sense getting into this risky business of conatantly monitoring of INR and fear of bleeding. - I have seen on net some other drugs in market which are equally good as warfarin with lower risk of bleeding.
Avatar n tn I'm not a doctor, just a patient who has been on warfarin for the past eight years. I had a mechanical heart valve implanted in 2004. I'm medically literate, and I've tried to read as much as I can about warfarin along the way. I even went to a day-long CEU workshop for medical professionals on warfarin management and got the certificate. But I'm still not an expert.

Avatar f tn I had a tummy tuck surgery 8 days ago today. Yesterday i went to my visit and the skin below my belly button has turned black and some areas seem very raw. My surgeon said he needs more time before he can tell me exactly what it is or if it is just affecting the superficial skin layers and scheduled another visit for me in a week. I actually had my tuck with a mastoplexy and the surgeon also performed liposuction on me.
Avatar n tn I recently had a tummy tuck and as a result have skin necrosis right above the pubic area. I am not or never have been a smoker. What could have caused this and how long will it take to heal? This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.org/posts/show/280032'>swelling after tummy tuck</a>.
Avatar f tn My cat scratched my right breast well over a month ago and it left a deep sore which still has not healed. The skin around the sore is a healthy pink and a clear fluid sometime's yellow, will come from the sore especially if I am washing or in the bath as the hot water tends to make the scab come off, but the sore is now turning black. I did heat some metal on the stove and burned it, hoping that in cauterizing it, it will heal better.

382218 tn?1341181487 A variety of injection-site reactions (ISRs) have been reported, including pain and erythema, lipoatrophy, abscesses and infections, necrosis, rash, swelling, and lumps. In order to appropriately distinguish between normal and abnormal reactions and to determine when further intervention is required, nurses involved in the care of patients with MS should be knowledgeable about the potential ISRs associated with DMTs.
979080 tn?1323433639 Prilosec can cause fatal liver rot (necrosis), fatal pancreatitis, headache, back pain, hair loss, toxic epidermal necrolysis (a condition where your skin becomes red and scaly, then finally, painfully oozes and peels off), or it can stop the production of blood cells. Like Tagamet, Prilosec can severely distort or compromise the detoxification of other drugs. http://ezinearticles.com/?
Avatar n tn It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar m tn t know how warfarin is affecting your life style. I have been on warfarin for years and had no concerns about running and bike riding, and using power wood working tools. All of these activities puts one at an increased risk of a cut and bleeding, but I simply take the risk. On the other hand, I don't sky dive, or pick fights ....
4822967 tn?1367656696 The vascular guy at rpa who operated to clear tthe clots out of the AV fistula said that the warfarin cannot and never shoudl be stopped and that any bleeding risk was less of a threat than the potential threats of more blood clots, saying bleeding will just to be dealt with! Hence a surgeon would treat me like the plague! He said that clexane was not protective enough if you had CKD with a variable level of function???

Avatar n tn ginger and glucosamine sulfate will affect coumadin (warfarin) I'm on warfarin and can't take ginger or glucosamine and a host of other supplements.
Avatar f tn DOES ANYONE KNOW IF WARFARIN CAN LOWER YOUR BLOOD COUNT AND AND ALSO LOWER CALCIUM AND VITAMIN D LEVELS?
Avatar f tn Seven months ago I had a pulmonary embolism and I am told this may have been the second one.I am taking 7 mg of warfarin a day and my INR is 2.5.I had a liver transplant 10 months ago,and was told my vascular system was not great.Given my overall situation I am concerned about heart attacks and strokes.Do you think I should be taking 75mg of aspirin a day as well as the warfarin? Thanks.
Avatar n tn The pain may also in part be explained by the kind of reconstruction done. If muscle and skin flaps are used (such as TRAM) then there is a possibility of fat necrosis occuring in the reconstructed breast. If silicone implants are used, then the implants themselves may be compressing on some structures. I would suggest that you have this checked by your surgeon just to be sure there is nothing serious to worry about. Regards.
Avatar f tn I could be mistaken but the skin looks unaffected, just lacks support from beneath. Looked through a wide range of skin cancer and tissue necrosis images and it is not at all like any of that but I did get a NSAID shot in that general area 3 months ago (for pneumonia). I saw in some of the information that they can be connected to necrosis, which I'm really hoping is not the issue deep under the skin.
Avatar n tn She has been on warfarin and monitors it regularly. She also has past history endometriosis and has always had heavy periods and problems with her periods. She also has uterine fibroids that have been giving her problems, even more so since the warfarin. Between the uterine fibroids and the warfarin, her menses are extremely heavy. She is on iron because she tends to be anemic around her period. Her periods are so heavy that she can go through 4-6 large pads an hour, sometimes more.
612551 tn?1450022175 CoQ-10 is frequently recommended for reducing side effects in patients taking statins ( like Lipitor) and I haven’t heard of anyone on warfarin having issues. I would recommend consulting your doctor first (obviously) and maybe refraining from COQ-10 unless you have some nasty symptoms that you absolutely can’t tolerate which COQ-10 has been shown to alleviate.
Avatar m tn t try to be too physical) with permanent AFib. I take both warfarin (5 mg) and a low dose aspinin. I take the aspirin in the morning and the warfarin in the evening. I have at least two risk factors, maybe three given I had mitral valve surgery a couple of years ago.
1569985 tn?1328247482 I am worried about being on Warfarin. I really smacked it, but it did not break the skin and I did not see stars, pass out or anything. I called the nurse and she told me to watch for double vision or dizziness, but she said they worry more about people slipping and falling and cracking their head. So far I just have a slight headache, but my anxiety is kicking in and that's never good. Has anyone had this happen? Any input? Thanks.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with lupus anticoagulant blood disorder. I have a leg full of clots that won't break up and go away. They have been treated for 3 years with warfarin, lovenox and cumadin. All to no avail. My gp doctor doesn't seem to have the knack to getting the INR levels stable. I've been at levels of 6 and 6.5 many times leading to ER transfusions. Last week it was 1.1 I'm worried because the symptoms are so much worse lately.
Avatar m tn Just wanted to say there shouldn't be a reason why you cant be taken off of warfarin and put on lovenox for the procedure. This is a pretty common way to handle cases where people are on blood thinners for some reason and need some type of surgical procedure done. After the biopsy you go back to the warfarin. I take coumadin and had to do this a few times with no problems. The lovenox is typically self injected with a syringe and is usually administered in the abdominal area.
Avatar m tn I believe it could be a FATAL mistake if you stopped taking the warfarin. Mechanical valves will clot without warfarin and this could cause a heart attack, stroke or heart failure and could cause you to have to have another open heart surgery. PLEASE ,PLEASE talk to your doctor about any changes in the warfarin.
Avatar n tn A drastic change in diet can alter INR also, but in my own personal experience, it has usually been other meds that caused me to need to change my warfarin dosage and not my diet. An INR that is consistently out of range is dangerous. Don't worry about maintaining the same dose of warfarin. Worry about maintaining an INR that is consistently within range. Whatever dose of warfarin you have to take to stay in range is okay.
