Avatar n tn - why a clot should form in my heart when the muscles were damaged six years back and considering that I am on aspirin+clopidogrel which too have anti clotting function. - warfarin may be slightly better as compared to aspirin+ clopidogrel, but in my case with no AF, does it makes sense getting into this risky business of conatantly monitoring of INR and fear of bleeding. - I have seen on net some other drugs in market which are equally good as warfarin with lower risk of bleeding.
Avatar n tn I'm not a doctor, just a patient who has been on warfarin for the past eight years. I had a mechanical heart valve implanted in 2004. I'm medically literate, and I've tried to read as much as I can about warfarin along the way. I even went to a day-long CEU workshop for medical professionals on warfarin management and got the certificate. But I'm still not an expert.

Avatar n tn I recently had a tummy tuck and as a result have skin necrosis right above the pubic area. I am not or never have been a smoker. What could have caused this and how long will it take to heal? This discussion is related to swelling after tummy tuck.
Avatar f tn HI, 6 YEARS AGO, I HAD A BRAIN TUMOR (GLIOSACOMA) FOR WHICH I HAD RECEIVED RADIOTHERAPY, CHEMOTHERAPY, AND LATER GAMMA KNIFE AND CYBERKNIFE.SINCE NOVEMBER I'M DONE WITH MY ONCOLOGICAL TREATMENT. AND WHAT IS LEFT NOW IS A NECROSIS THAT IT 'S STARTING TO AFFECT MY LIFE, SINCE FROM TIME TO TIME I GET SOME EDEMA IN THIS AREA AND i'VE BEEN TOLD IT'S BECAUSE OF THE NECROSIS FOR WHAT I'M SEARCHING A WAY TO GET REED OF IT. CAN SOMEBODY HELP ME WHITH THESE PLEASE?
Avatar m tn Hello, Dermatitis, urticaria, alopecia, rash, bullous eruptions, pruritus, and pallor have been reported infrequently with use of warfarin. If you are having these symptoms after use of warfarin then you can talk to your physician and get dabigatran prescribed as an alternative to warfarin. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar n tn hai any one could u tell me what is the cause for skin changes and body weight lose colour of the skin changed to sever black and sever leg pain & body weight lose
Avatar f tn Very high ALT levels (up to 50 times normal) suggest viral or severe drug-induced hepatitis, or other hepatic disease with extensive necrosis (death of liver cells). (AST levels are also elevated but usually to a lesser degree.) Moderate-to-high levels may indicate infectious mononucleosis, chronic hepatitis, intrahepatic cholestasis or cholecystitis, early or improving acute viral hepatitis, or severe hepatic congestion due to heart failure.
Avatar f tn When brain tumors are treated with radiation therapy, there is always a risk of radiation-induced necrosis of healthy brain tissue. Insidious and potentially fatal, radiation necrosis of the brain may develop months or even years after irradiation. This poorly understood side effect can occur even when the most stringent measures are taken to avoid exposing healthy tissue to harmful levels of radiation.

979080 tn?1323433639 Prilosec can cause fatal liver rot (necrosis), fatal pancreatitis, headache, back pain, hair loss, toxic epidermal necrolysis (a condition where your skin becomes red and scaly, then finally, painfully oozes and peels off), or it can stop the production of blood cells. Like Tagamet, Prilosec can severely distort or compromise the detoxification of other drugs. http://ezinearticles.com/?
Avatar n tn They are stretch marks from a Chrons bowel occlusion. The dark spot was an area of necrosis from an ingrown hair or spider bite.
Avatar m tn Sometimes people do get injured by the cath, so I would wonder the same thing as Koop123. But like kenkeith, I have a hard time imagining a cath injury to the ventricle wall that would be bad enough to cause a permanent scar. Don't take me for any kind of expert, but the cath injuries that I have heard about were more along the lines of the cath puncturing a thin vessel wall.
Avatar m tn heparin is used because it acts immediately. Warfarin might be given, but it takes a day or two to begin working. But heparin is given by injection or instead usually by IV, so it's not practical except when the patient is in the hospital. Warfarin is oral. IV is better because the dose that is delivered to the bloodstream is more sure. Injecting heparin into the body can results in variable dosing, depending on the nature of where the heparin is injected (e.g.

Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with fat necrosis (in one breast) after a bilateral mastectomy with immediate reconstruction with a tram free flap. I noticed a little hardness in one breast. How is this treated? What is the long term prognosis? Will fat necrosis make imaging studies more difficult to read?
Avatar n tn The pain may also in part be explained by the kind of reconstruction done. If muscle and skin flaps are used (such as TRAM) then there is a possibility of fat necrosis occuring in the reconstructed breast. If silicone implants are used, then the implants themselves may be compressing on some structures. I would suggest that you have this checked by your surgeon just to be sure there is nothing serious to worry about. Regards.
Avatar f tn I could be mistaken but the skin looks unaffected, just lacks support from beneath. Looked through a wide range of skin cancer and tissue necrosis images and it is not at all like any of that but I did get a NSAID shot in that general area 3 months ago (for pneumonia). I saw in some of the information that they can be connected to necrosis, which I'm really hoping is not the issue deep under the skin.
Avatar m tn I'm a 47 year old male permanent afib have been on warfarin for 1 year by ep doctor because he wanted to convert me and put me on flecanide I opted not to take the drug because it does'nt realy bother me and he told me I don't need to take warfarin anymore because I'm otherwise cardio healthy and to just take a 325 aspirin, but my primary doc wants me to stay on warfarin, so I have been staying on warfarin until 2 days ago went to doc for something else and his assistant looked a
1569985 tn?1328247482 I am worried about being on Warfarin. I really smacked it, but it did not break the skin and I did not see stars, pass out or anything. I called the nurse and she told me to watch for double vision or dizziness, but she said they worry more about people slipping and falling and cracking their head. So far I just have a slight headache, but my anxiety is kicking in and that's never good. Has anyone had this happen? Any input? Thanks.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with lupus anticoagulant blood disorder. I have a leg full of clots that won't break up and go away. They have been treated for 3 years with warfarin, lovenox and cumadin. All to no avail. My gp doctor doesn't seem to have the knack to getting the INR levels stable. I've been at levels of 6 and 6.5 many times leading to ER transfusions. Last week it was 1.1 I'm worried because the symptoms are so much worse lately.
Avatar m tn m off warfarin. I will be on warfarin for the next 12 months due to a carotid artery dissection on the same side as the lipoma. I'm curious if a lipoma can be diagnosed without a biopsy. I would hate to wait 12 months only to find out its cancerous and has been spreading. He offered to allow me to have an ultrasound to rule out cancer. I found a radiology website that said an ultrasound may only be used to identify whether a mass exists but not to characterize the mass.
Avatar m tn I take warfarin (generic coumadin) and have for about 15 years. I discussed changing to Pradaxa with my cardiologist when that drug first came out, I decided not to use it because of cost (warfarin cost about 12 cents a day) and the fact I do well on warfarin, albeit I have to have my blood coagulation tested once a month. Recently I have seen a lot of "bad news" about Pradaxa including law firm adds looking for new participants in a class action suit, as I understand it...
Avatar f tn My cat scratched my right breast well over a month ago and it left a deep sore which still has not healed. The skin around the sore is a healthy pink and a clear fluid sometime's yellow, will come from the sore especially if I am washing or in the bath as the hot water tends to make the scab come off, but the sore is now turning black. I did heat some metal on the stove and burned it, hoping that in cauterizing it, it will heal better.
1090423 tn?1286287650 hi , i was diagnosed with dvt three weeks ago , i was given clexane injections for 11 days and warfarin , i am only on warfarin now , no more injections my inr is 2.
Avatar n tn The real question is why has fat necrosis occurred. Fat necrosis develops from vascular insufficiency to the tissues. Is this the result of the surgery itself or contributed by some additional underlying condition. I am as puzzled as your surgeon probably is. Once the devascularized fat is removed, the pain and drainage should stop.
