Common Questions and Answers about Vioxx withdrawal

vioxx

Avatar n tn But this time I am going to ask the GP to try for Gout immediately (VIOXX and/or Allopurinol for Uric Acid/Gout). I notice it seems to reoccur every 5 years. Advice appreciated?
Avatar n tn Symptons are always have been cold, tired, joint and muscle pain worse in fingers, I took Vioxx before it was removed , high blood pressure , tinnitus, completely deaf over 2,500 cycles in both ears. Hearing aids made no difference. Dentist last month couldn't freeze my gums with 2 needles of Carbocaine. 7mm nodule on thyroid. Blood tests TSH 2.15 ( range .465 to 4.68 ) FT4 11.17 ( range 10 to 28.2 ) Total T3 2.02 ( range .92 to 2.
Avatar n tn I had a DVT that went through my heart and into my lungs(PE). A valve was damaged, also one chanber of my heart. My problem is that I wasn't diagnosed as a "heart attack", but rather a "pulmonary embolism", and the lawyers representing me in my vioxx lawsuit say it has to be a heart attack, not a PE. Isn't a heart attack part of a PE? Rather, did I suffer a heart attack as well as a pulmonary embolism?
Avatar f tn There was no money exchanged or special consideration given to get Vioxx on the market. However, Vioxx is a good example of a study not digging deep enough into long term effects of a new drug. Vioxx was introduced in 1999 and was originally thought of as a treatment for polyps in the intestinal track.
Avatar n tn [2] A series of small-scale studies completed in Germany found that H. procumbens was indistinguishable from Vioxx in the treatment of chronic low back pain,[3] and was well-tolerated after more than four years of treatment of H. procumbens alone.[4] H. procumbens also seems efficacious in the treatment of arthritis-caused hip and knee pain.
Avatar n tn ive bin having bad pain and cant function normal .im always in pain and my two arms go numb to the fingers. i take vioxx, a pain patch, and neurotin. but that doesent seem to be helping its going on two years and im going mad, what can i do.
Avatar m tn This group of NSAIDs has the advantage of having fewer gastrointestinal side effects – less abdominal discomfort and less risk of gastrointestinal bleeding, than conventional NSAIDs. There are three different COX-2 inhibitors currently available to the public– Vioxx, Celebrex and Bextra. COX-2 inhibitors have been associated with some liver dysfunction, although not as commonly as other NSAIDs. Recently, Vioxx has been removed from the market due to heart-related problems.
Avatar n tn But, call the drug company that makes this drug and ask them if there have been sufficient studies done on patients taking this and another drug like Vioxx, like Cymbalta, Celebrex, Boniva. What about a diabetic? Can they take this w/ the new drug while being on insulin? There are no studies on how these drugs interact w/ each other and the efficacy. We are the studied ones. And that is scary to me.
Avatar m tn t stop the vics), that being aside, you should read the warning leaflet and decide for yourself if the side effects are worth it. I was given vioxx years ago, read the warnings about heart attacks and such, and threw them all in the trash! Not much later it was pulled from the market. If I lost a loved one, $$ isn't going to bring the back anyway, it's all stupid. If I do myself in, I guess I will come back and haunt the manufacturers....BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...........
Avatar f tn In that same period of time, 490,000 people have died from prescription drugs, not counting the Vioxx scandal. That means that prescription drugs in this country are at least 16,400 percent deadlier than terrorism. Again, those are the conservative numbers. A more realistic number, which would include deaths from over-the-counter drugs, makes drug consumption 32,000 percent deadlier than terrorism. But the scope of "Death by Medicine" is even wider.
Avatar f tn neurontin and lyrica for nerve pain, aspirin, ibuprofen, acetaminophen, celebrex, vioxx, midol, dozens of different types of opiates both synthetic and derived from the poppy, marijuana, kava, willow bark, turmeric, ginger, benzos, nitrous oxide gas, ether, and that's just again not even thinking hard about it.
Avatar f tn You have to even go down to splitting the smallest dose into just grains until you can wean off this drug. The withdrawal side effects are akin to heroine withdrawal, so you should take this very seriously. I was down to 12 grains before I stopped, I still got the electric shooting feelings going on in my head, severe nausea and body aches, I had the chills and was sweating profusely. I also took ativan to help with the shakes, it was awful.

Avatar m tn I was even prescribed VIOXX in the States for these symptoms.

Avatar m tn Years ago I tried Vioxx (the non-sulpha version of Celebrex) and wound up in the ER with dangerously high BP. Trouble is, even after I stopped Vioxx my BP never went back to normal. Now I'm on two different BP meds to control it. (Full disclosure: I also have a family history of hypertension.) I took meloxicam for a long time because I could take it along with my BP meds, but eventually my stomach couldn't take it anymore.
Avatar m tn The other 19 days, I go without. After the nine days, I do go through two to three days of withdrawal, but nothing serious like I've seen described in these forums. For the 19 days without percocet I suffer the arthritic pain - sometimes acutely - but only take over the counter anti-inflammatories like advil. I can't take nsaids because they have caused me to have bleeding ulcers in the past.
Avatar f tn pylori infection, smoking, cyclooxygenase inhibitor medication ie)Celebrex, Vioxx, Bectra, also potassium chloride, chemotherapeutic agents, and bisphosphonate classification of medications.
Avatar n tn Thank you so much for your reply! I wasn't sure if anyone would see the posting, this is my first posting. I take several ambien a day, so my dr. will not prescribe more. I have been honest and tell her that I don't sleep. I am very much addicted. I don't know where to turn. 30 for a whole month is just not enough. Today I filled a perscription for Lunesta, Very expesive $ 154. it really don't like it. I have taken 3 tonight and I am still awake.
1909286 tn?1379435137 Hi, I was wondering if any of u feel really weak when going through withdrawal? Like it's just really hard to even go up the stairs? It's also hard to even get a deep breath. OMG when does it end???!!!!
Avatar m tn In my and others experience, the best withdrawal method is a process of cutting back your dosage over time. Going into a rehab unit is pure hell. And anyway you are not an addict. Take it slow friend. In my humble opinion the vicodin you may want to stay on the longest. Percs make me feel depressed. Vicodin does not do that. I am a pain patient. This may sound counter intuitive but oxycontin acts longer with getting a less addictive buzz or high like one does on vikes(hydrocodone).
Avatar f tn I have been taking vicodin and tramadol for over 15 years and really want to stop taking them because they are ruining my life. But the pain from withdrawal is unbearable. I am at my wits end n don't know how to ease the withdrawal symptoms. Any ideas?
