Common Questions and Answers about Vesicare for overactive bladder

vesicare

Avatar m tn I have very similar symptoms, and was curious about asking my doctor for vesicare. I apologize since you're looking for an answer and all I have is questions, but I'm hoping you can help me decide if this medication can help me. I'm a 23 years old male, and have had pretty severe OAB symptoms since I can remember. So bad I have publicly wet my self for not being able to get to a bathroom fast enough.
721523 tn?1331581802 Solifenacin succinate (VESIcare) Solifenacin succinate elicits competitive muscarinic receptor antagonist activity, which results in anticholinergic effect and inhibition of bladder smooth muscle contraction. It is indicated for overactive bladder with symptoms of urgency, frequency, and urge incontinence." http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/453539 I am leaning toward underactive bladder as my problem, but don't meet with the urologist until next week.

Avatar m tn I just read your post about Atrial Fib and meds for overactive bladder. I have Atrial Fib, and my doctor wanted to prescribe Vesicare. I read up on this med, and found it could cause irregular heartbeats. This makes me nervous. What medication are you currently taking for the bladder problem? Is it working for you, and does it cause a problem with the heart? I would like to hear from you since I'm right in the middle of trying to find the right med.
Avatar m tn I went to a urologist who said I have an inf inflamed testicular cyst on the right side and possibly a case of low grade epididymitis bilaterally. He also said most likely have overactive bladder. Started me on Levaquin 500mg PO QD x 7 days and Vesicare 10mg PO QD.The cyst went down but the pain around the epdidymis persisted w/ no change. After 4 weeks of Vesicare I still have no change in my nocturia. I had an ultrasound of my bladder, testicles, kidneys all normal.

Avatar f tn Anyway, I had started on the Vesicare 10mg, for my overactive bladder. Well it appeared to be working, so when I saw my urologist, I told him for the most part it is working. Before I started the Diamox, my bladder kinda went back to the old dysfunctional way. Not completely but the freaquency came back, urges, alittle of the leakage, not as bad, the urge to go and cant, are back. Has anyone ever had this happen to them, and what could this mean? Should I go back to see my Doc?
Avatar n tn Ok here goes: I'm 28/female, pretty healthy ... on 10/6, about 1 week before I was to leave for Vegas I was extremely nervous about flying. Out of the blue I started having frequent urination problems. No urgency (meaning I could hold it if I had too) but just frequent trips to the bathroom. No real pain or anything. I have an underlying anxiety disorder that is not controlled and I did start to panic about these symptoms which in turn probably made them worse.
Avatar f tn They will put you on the new medicines for overactive bladder like Detrol LA or Vesicare. As for the being thristy--sometimes this is a side effect of medicines but you really need to be checked by a doctor right away. Hope this helped and everything is fine.
Avatar f tn If diabetes is ruled out then other possibilities which need to be ruled out are interstitial cystitis, overactive bladder syndrome, stroke and other neurological diseases, urinary incontinence, bladder cancer(rare) and bladder dysfunction . Please consult a urologist in that case. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn About four months, I had symptoms that were consistent with a UTI (burning during urination, frequent urination, lower back pain). I went to my PCP and although the urinanalysis showed nothing, my PCP put me on Cipro. After a week of that, I still had symptoms, so I went back. I had a pelvic exam and did another urinanalysis (again negative). My PCP gave me an antispasmodic and a numbing pill for the burning sensation (I don't remember the name of it, but it turned my urine orange).
Avatar n tn Your primary care doctor can probably can get you started on treatment for overactive bladder while you wait for the specialist appointments.
Avatar n tn Are you saying the TUMT probably doesn't have anything to do with the overactive bladder?
Avatar f tn Hi there, I take or should I say I was taking vesicare for bladder urgency, painful bladder spasms and I was also getting burning on an extreme nature in that region, I kept thinking I had UTIs but it was neurological and another problem according to my urologist and neurologist I have two issues.
Avatar f tn I'm 21 and I've recently started having an over active bladder (well that's what I think it is) so basically I have to pee all of the time, I began thinking a lot of it was mental, as I have to go 3 times before I can go to bed, even the slightest trickle, unless I cannot stop thinking about it. I have been put on medication for overactive bladder- vesicare, but it's not helping at all.
Avatar n tn Direct examination (DRE, etc) is done to determine if the prostate is enlarged or not. The cause of an overactive or irritable bladder is not fully understood. The bladder muscle seems to become overactive and contract when you do not want it to. Symptoms may get worse at times of stress, by caffeine in tea, coffee, cola and by alcohol. Treatment with bladder training often cures the problem. Sometimes medication may also be prescribed. Take care and best regards.

Avatar n tn However, I still urinate every 15 minutes, so my urologist told me I have overactive bladder. Im taking vesicare now-starting tonite, ugh. How did you fathers situation turn out?
Avatar f tn Interstitial Cystitis and overactive bladder are both sensory urgency problem, and sometimes difficult to distinguish. We also know that many patients have both problems. I would start by treating you with an overactive bladder medication like ditropan or vesicare and see what happens to your symptoms. If they no not respond, then treating you IC may be the ultimate solution. Good Luck.
Avatar f tn It had started out as OAB (overactive bladder) and got progressively worse. It was a real dilemna because with the post op pain I couldn't move fast, but the urgency required me to move fast. I'd be fine one minute and the next minute I had to go so bad I couldn't hold it. Finally, the doc put me on Vesicare, but my insurance doesn't cover it so I had to change to Ditropan which was moderately effective.
Avatar n tn Hi, The bladder spasms can make the bladder wall contract even before the bladder is completely full making the patient visit the toilet frequently. The muscle relaxants like vesicare are used for the treatment. However other methods can also be used like avoiding drinking things that act as bladder irritants such as sodas, alcohol or coffee. In some patients, electrical stimulation is applied to the nerves controlling spasms to make them relax.
Avatar m tn hello Doc, well im back I last 2months i have been goin back and forth with a urology residence program for the same symptoms overactive bladder and premature ejaculation. I was put on Uroxatrol for 3 wks , then Vesicare for 3 wks, neither one of these medications even slightly slowed down the excessive need to urinate.
Avatar n tn I am a 24 year old male and have never had sex before in my life but i masturbate everyday and a few years ago had noticed a terrible urine frequency problem, in my past i used to smoke alot of Marijuwana but i have not had that since i was about 20 or so, and when this frequency condition occurred i did not go to the doctor for some time due to me being scared ( i kick myself everyday for it) anyway so then one day the condition just got really really bad previously i would put up with it, urin
Avatar m tn 4)mg but the urge to urinate was there all the time so my doctor added (Vesicare 5mg). It was good for few weeks but then the urge got stronger and I was again given Bactrim DS for 4 weeks and now even with Bactrim DC I am not feeling any better. Few days back the doctor increased the dose of Floamx to 0.8 mg and stopped the Vesicare. It did not help and the urge to urinate is there all the time and there is tightness in the bladder. I also took Celebrex for few days and it helped a little bit.
