Vesicare for neurogenic bladder

Common Questions and Answers about Vesicare for neurogenic bladder

vesicare

Avatar f tn The drugs we take - I am on Sanctura for my bladder - relax that bladder muscle. My neurogenic bladder is quite content to let the drug be in charge, much like other drugs such as baclofen might work for our limbs and other muscles. Yes, this can be a life hindering problem and you can reclaim your life if you can get the bladder under control. It's worth the dry mouth to be able to go 3 hours or longer between pit stops. I know because that was my life for too long.
Avatar m tn I have very similar symptoms, and was curious about asking my doctor for vesicare. I apologize since you're looking for an answer and all I have is questions, but I'm hoping you can help me decide if this medication can help me. I'm a 23 years old male, and have had pretty severe OAB symptoms since I can remember. So bad I have publicly wet my self for not being able to get to a bathroom fast enough.
721523 tn?1331581802 Solifenacin succinate (VESIcare) Solifenacin succinate elicits competitive muscarinic receptor antagonist activity, which results in anticholinergic effect and inhibition of bladder smooth muscle contraction. It is indicated for overactive bladder with symptoms of urgency, frequency, and urge incontinence." http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/453539 I am leaning toward underactive bladder as my problem, but don't meet with the urologist until next week.

Avatar f tn I have some links that deal with a neurogenic bladder, however it does not deal with young patients like your son. The site is based on adults. I know what it is like to have to use intermittant catherization. I cannot imagine what it must be like for a young child. http://www.urologyhealth.org/adult/index.cfm?cat=03&topic=109 http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/453539-overview I hope that this information is helpful for you. All the best.
Avatar n tn I have what they call Neurogenic bladder. Probably very close to your description. Sometimes I have to concentrate to enpty my bladder, but if I can't go, I can self-cath. If it is done under the hygenic conditions, infections can be avoided. This is something you need to discuss with your doctor, so he can see if you need some medication. There are things out there for people like us that can help. Good Luck to you and happy peeing, when you can go...
Avatar m tn Hi, I am a 43 year old female that was diagnosed with a neurogenic bladder 12 years ago , after the birth of my second son. If your wife would like to talk with someone in her similar situation, I would be happy to lend some support!
999891 tn?1407276076 Yesterday I met with my Urologist, he said my bladder was healthy but the mechanics were not. He Diagnosed me as having a Neurogenic bladder. He is confident that my problems are due to one or a combination of my Central Nervous System problems. He feels that the CNS problem need to be treated in the hope of resolving my bladder issues before he would preform any radical treatments. He has put me on medication to help with my bladder problem but this is not a longterm solution.
Avatar f tn Thanks Kyle. I have RR MS and recently diagnosed with Detrusor Sphincter Dysserie. My bladder does not fully empty. I cath several times per day/night. My Urologist informed, like MS, this condition is not curable. The symptoms may or may not go away at some point. Are you aware of any treatments for this condition?
Avatar n tn Hi, The bladder spasms can make the bladder wall contract even before the bladder is completely full making the patient visit the toilet frequently. The muscle relaxants like vesicare are used for the treatment. However other methods can also be used like avoiding drinking things that act as bladder irritants such as sodas, alcohol or coffee. In some patients, electrical stimulation is applied to the nerves controlling spasms to make them relax.
Avatar m tn 4)mg but the urge to urinate was there all the time so my doctor added (Vesicare 5mg). It was good for few weeks but then the urge got stronger and I was again given Bactrim DS for 4 weeks and now even with Bactrim DC I am not feeling any better. Few days back the doctor increased the dose of Floamx to 0.8 mg and stopped the Vesicare. It did not help and the urge to urinate is there all the time and there is tightness in the bladder. I also took Celebrex for few days and it helped a little bit.
Avatar f tn Anyway, I had started on the Vesicare 10mg, for my overactive bladder. Well it appeared to be working, so when I saw my urologist, I told him for the most part it is working. Before I started the Diamox, my bladder kinda went back to the old dysfunctional way. Not completely but the freaquency came back, urges, alittle of the leakage, not as bad, the urge to go and cant, are back. Has anyone ever had this happen to them, and what could this mean? Should I go back to see my Doc?
Avatar n tn Evista for osteoporosis, Tenormin, (as a beta blocker),for Migrane headache, Cinestin - an estrogen replacement (I had a complete Hysterectomy in 1991), Vesicare and Oxytrol for my neurogenic bladder and Tylenol with codine for acute pain. I recently had blood work and my WBC was slightly elevated at 11, RBC, Hemoglobin, and Hematocrit were slightly low and my lymphocytes were above 5000, (high normal is 3900).
Avatar n tn does anyone get headaches from taking vesicare?? They seen to go away with advil. Anyone had these symptons, did they lessen with longer use of vesicare??
Avatar m tn I am a 23 yo M w/ no significant past medical history. For the past 7 months I have been experiencing bilateral testicular pain only upon palpation of my testicles on a certain area next to the epididymis bilaterally. At the same time I wake up in the middle of the night 3-4 times to urinate. I went to a urologist who said I have an inf inflamed testicular cyst on the right side and possibly a case of low grade epididymitis bilaterally. He also said most likely have overactive bladder.

Avatar f tn Hello new to this forum, my son was born with a enlarged bladder and is now 3.5 mos. We've be trying to narrow down the cause with his urologist he is catheterized 3x daily. Recently he was diagnosed with an enlarged bowel. He urinates on his own daily and also has reg bowel movements. Vcug was good no obstruction but bladder held around 10oz. MRI was done with no findings of back. Ultra sound was done recently and kidneys are great.
Avatar f tn All the info on Vesicare talks about its use for bladder urgency but nothing about it to help with burning sensations but it does, I just don't understand how or why it helps. Damn Udkas...
Avatar m tn This makes me nervous. What medication are you currently taking for the bladder problem? Is it working for you, and does it cause a problem with the heart? I would like to hear from you since I'm right in the middle of trying to find the right med.
Avatar n tn ll ask for a urologist there. How do they test for neurogenic bladder? And would MS be the most likely cause of neurogenic bladder in an 18 year old male?
1056851 tn?1318720978 GP has put me on Vesicare 5mg. It is to help my incontinence. Anyone else taking this? How is it?
Avatar f tn First, I want to tell you, I am so, so sorry for what you are experiencing!! I, too, have major bladder issues. Neurogenic Bladder. I had the Inter Stim Implant a little over a year ago. Until recently, It helped with the all of a sudden urge and loss of control. I was hospitalized in August and November for UTI/Bladder Infection and had to have IV's at home for two weeks after the last hospitalization. For four years, I've had to wear Depends 24/7.
