I forgot to add that I have never had a breakout/rash. There is one cut that always appears and goes away with medication. I get it every month, since being diagnosed 4 months ago :( Not too bad, but I have a partner and want to do everything in my power to stop risk of spreading.

Lysine is not the same thing as valtrex - not even sorta. Research shows that it doesn't really do much for herpes either. Most folks already get more than enough lysine naturally in their diets anyways. How long have you been taking the valtrex? What dose are you taking? Headaches are a normal side effect of the herpes antivirals but they typically will go away in a week or two. What mad eyou start suppressive therapy?

valtrex and acyclovir have the same basic side effects. Valtrex is turned into acyclovir inside the body.

Do the new drugs come with their own side effects besides the ones that soc come with? Not sure if I asked that right, I'm still waiting for everything to come together but if the new meds come with even worse side effects than one might already get maybe that's another reason to treat now.

sorry to hear your hubby is having a hard time. sounds like he is having some of the common side effects. There is nothing that can boost platlets but many docs let them go really low before lowering or stopping the meds. Try and get back on the full strength of interferon ASAP! Believe it or not, anxiety can produce such symptoms ( you being worried about the situation). Also, I know what valtrex is for, however I am not sure of it's side effects. Much to my dismay I just noticed a small patch on the left side of my lower back. Is the rash just going to continue to keep spreading? and at what point will it stop spreading? Can I spread it to other parts of my body, like if I touch my leg and then touch my arm would I then develop the rash on my arm?
