Common Questions and Answers about Valtrex no prescription

valtrex

Avatar n tn What is the procedure for getting a Valtrex prescription?? Every time I go to this doctor I go to, he writes me a prescription for 3 months. And when the refills are up calling in to ask for more is not an option. They actually want you to come into the office. I don't have time to keep doing this. And I really don't see the point!?!? What needs to be looked at? Nothing is going to change!
Avatar m tn I need a valtrex prescription and the family doctor gave me some without prescription, the doctor asked to do a blood test for hsv type 1 (had around 6 cold sores at the time, valtrex worked wonders). At the time, I coudnt test for hsv because of taking valtrex but now i need a daily dose but i'm taking 1000mg lysine everyday. Will lysine affect the blood test result of hsv type 1? Do i need to stop taking it to test positive?
Avatar f tn OK. So its been nearly 2 months since I've been diagnosed with this inconvenience. Since I never had a "noticeable outbreak", every little itch or tingling that I get spooks me (The reason why I say that is because the time I had sex with my ex, I did have some tingling and 5 days later he had small blisters on his penis, so I know he contracted it from me).
Avatar n tn Can taking Herpes medication, such as Valtrex, create a later false positive test for the STD?
Avatar f tn My gynecologist just diagnosed me with gHSV1 after months of mystery symptoms. I have oral HSV-1, but she thinks my problems must be caused by the same virus since all my other tests are negative. I've tried antibiotics yeast cream, garlic, probiotic, but nothing helps. She just put me on Valtrex. I was looking forward to no more pain and having a sex life again but now I'm more frustrated because it's not helping. She gave me a ten day prescription.
Avatar f tn m having a hard time reaching my doctor back home to renew this prescription (there are no refills left on this one.) I did take the first dose of Valtrex, thinking I had 12 hours to reach my dr and have the rx called in, however I haven't been able to reach him. I just found out that a family member has Acyclovir. My question is, can I take Acyclovir for the second dose, 12 hours after taking the first dose of Valtrex?
Avatar n tn I am wondering most specifically about how long the medication should be taken for suppression. Both my original Valtrex prescription and my current Acyclovir prescription state that I should take the medication for up to a year. I've done that. I've been off the medication just because I chose to since I'm not sexually active right now. Please offer me some insight.
Avatar m tn My guess would be because you get less active acyclovir in your body with plain ole acyclovir than you do valtrex but we have no studies to back this assumption.
Avatar n tn I even asked her if she ever got a diagnosis or presription, and she said NO. So the other day, I find a bottle of Valtrex in her car. I Googled it and from what I can tell, it is for treating Herpes! I am totally freaked out now - I think she may have cheated on me, contracted an STD and I do not know how to bring this up with her. Can anyone give me advice? I am at the point that I want to leave her over this, but don't want to overreact because I love her very much, but am FREAKED out.
Avatar m tn About 2 years ago she left to a foreign county so I could no longer take Valtrex as a treatment. I am have been very vehamint about not getting tested because I believe you get put into a database.
Avatar n tn I am curious if taking my prescription for Valtrex would have any impact on my eye?
Avatar n tn Ok I was prescribed valtrex from my doctor. on the prescription it said I supposed to take it every 24 hours for 10 days but there's 30 pills n the bottle. Yesterday was the 10th day but I still have the break outs, this is rlly driving me crazy!
Avatar m tn I found two separate prescription bottles of Valtrex in my girlfriends' closet. One from January and one from April. Both are for 10 pills and both bottles are full of all 10 pills. So she hasn't taken any...what does this mean? She's never mentioned having herpes and I've obviously never suspected it but just don't understand why someone would have two full prescriptions for Valtrex...
Avatar m tn The NEW Doctor tells me that the only difference between taking Valtrex (what I have been taking) to Acyclovir (What they now want to prescribe) is the number of times a day you take it. I looked online...they say that Valtrex does a better job of helping you not to transmit the virus (most of this information provided by GlaxoSmithKline of course). The supression study has them identical. I am in a relationship where I really enjoy our "personal time".
Avatar f tn His foot wouldn't be herpes related. He should see his provider for a diagnosis. Valtrex is now available as a generic - look into it with your pharmacy/doctor.
Avatar n tn The sore from OB has never been so bad or lasted so long. 6 days ago I started 500mg twice a day and still no relief. Could I be immune to the Valtrex? How long should it take to get relief? Awaiting call back from Doc but holidays and all...
Avatar m tn My Dr. wrote a prescription for 1gm daily pill of Valtrex. I already have stomach problems and am trying to minimize potential side effects with highest drug efficacy. Seems logical to take 2 pills at 500mg/pill instead. Would this reduce stomach upset and/or improve absorption of drug? Thx in advance.
Avatar m tn I took 2g of Valtrex approximately 4hrs after the incident (I was lucky to have a friend with a prescription) .. If I continue to take Valtrex for the next 10 days is it at all possible that I might be able to avoid contracting the Oral or Genital HSV-1 ?? Thanks.
Avatar f tn Hello, I have oral HSV1 and want to take something daily to help prevent outbreaks and to keep virus at bay. I have a prescription for valtrex, but usually only take when i have an outbreak. Should I take that everyday? Any thoughts on Red Algae or Lysine.. has anyone had success with these? Would anyone recommend to take daily? Also, have been ready about a new light therapy called virulite, anyone heard of this?
Avatar m tn no lesions at all it was a regular testing and i still dont have lesions
Avatar f tn I just received a prescription for daily suppressive Acyclovir that I began taking today. My outbreaks are minimal, so the primary purpose for the medication is to reduce the risk of transmission. I have read in various places that Valtrex is the only suppressive medication that has been proven in clinical trials to reduce transmission. I am under the impression, however, that this is simply because Valtrex is the only drug that has been tested for reduction in transmission.
Avatar n tn She had an outbreak, and took Valtrex and we waited a week until the sores had healed. Then she skipped one day with the Valtrex, and the next day we had unprotected oral sex. Immediately afterward, she noticed a sore directly on her lip. This has made us both quite nervous. This second outbreak was unusual because in all the time she has had it, she has never had a "second outbreak".
Avatar f tn Hello, I am engaged to a man who was diagnosed with genital herpes about a year ago. He masturbates on a regular basis, even during his outbreaks. What are the risks of masturbating while he has an outbreak? I can't imagine it's good for him, but I just need to know if I'm nagging him for no reason. Thanks!
Avatar m tn As for protection the numbers are right with the use of a condom, daily suppresive therapy, and avoiding sexual contact anytime anything genital is going on will provide the best results. There is no way to achieve 100% no risk to your partner. It can't be done at all. The virus will still shed with no symptoms and you will never know when that is going on.
Avatar f tn Valtrex reduces the risk of transmission of HSV 2 by half - should be just about as good for reducing the risk of transmitting HSV 1 as well. We do prescribe this for daily use with people who have frequently recurring cold sores and also for people who have HSV 1 who have partners who do not have HSV 1 (either oral or genital). You will shed some asymptomatically, but not a lot.
