I did some research and discovered that one of the side effects for some people is joint pain... I started experiencing some pain about 2 days after the last dose... then flat out couldn't walk without extreme pain on the 3rd day... it is now the 5th day and I'm getting better... as I understand it, Valtrex can linger in the body around 96 or so hours (4 days)... so, I'm pretty sure this explains it... wow, it was pretty horrible...
I get a sensitivity to touch-pain on the top of my head,on the right side, sometimes it goes to the other side, I had singles a few months ago, it was a mild case and I was treated with Valtrex, could that have something to do with this feeling I am getting on the top of my head, it isn't a real bad pain, it is more a sensitivity to the touch on my head! you think I should worry? what do you think it can be?
dosent shorten life span and dsnt affect immune system(not a immune defficiancy) i have genital and ur first outbreak from being exposed is the worst a little swelling in lymph nods in genital area and joint pain in that area valtrex will help you with this and depending on ur health and STRESS in particular the outbreaks occur but they will be mild just remember to always use a condom from hear on out even with no outbreaks it is always apropiate to let ur partner know but i stress condoms beca
I have been having joint pain, severe in my leg side of body, arm and leg, and then both sides of my wrists, fingers, and ankles. It's now in my right knee as well. I have had just an overall ache in my legs and left arm. (I did have a total shoulder make over on my left side, Jan 2012 due to a trauma in 2008. I had a bicep tendonesis, SLAP, and a clavicular resection of half my acromium.
I have a CT to check for meningitis on Tue, just got report of STAPH B positive, in constant PN, white tongue, headache, muscle aches, joint pain in left elbow. I will start a new thread once I figure out how. If you have any info could you please reply and help me out. I finally found a dr that is listening to me and is pretty perplexed by this. Do you know what else it could be? I’m praying it’s the staph B that has my body in disarray. I’ll start treatment for that on Monday.
Herpes absolutely causes low back pain, buttock pain and leg pain below the buttocks. I have had herpes since 1989 and I ALWAYS know when an outbreak is imminent because of these symptoms. Know your body and pay attention to the ailments that immediately precede an outbreak. Unfortunately it seems I know more about the virus than any of the doctors that have treated me do. And they don't seem interested in learning, only prescribing expensive Valtrex. SMH.
gave me 2 days worth of valtrex which I took along with topical med for cold sore. About a day after the cold sore I started to have severe flu symptoms fever, loss of appetite, weakness, tiredness, chills and some burning and tingling sensation on my feet and hand.
I was worried that I may be HIV positive so did a antibody test a 6 weeks after possible exposure and a PCR/DNA test at 6 weeks which both came negative.
Is the pain people talk about with a herpes outbreak the actual open sores that are painful or is it a generalized pain ? The pain I am experiencing is like someone has the tip of my penis in a vice... I am going out of my mind becuase it literally has been 2 years of on and off pain and this irritation/ stinging/ tingling sensation... ejaculation makes the redness/ stinging worse- any advice would greaty be appreciated...I can not get the thought of herpes out of my head.

My doctor told me to stop taking Valtrex for a while to let my liver regenerate. While I think Valtrex is an excellent drug for treating HSV 2, I think users should take into consideration that long term use can cause some mild to moderate damage to the liver as my tests have proven. Also, anyone using Valtrex should not drink ANY alcohol while on it because it will exacerbate the problem with your liver. I'm hoping in a few weeks my liver tests go back to normal.
Back pain can accompany genital herpes outbreaks, but even this is rare. HSV is not a known cause of chronic, ongoing back pain.
What do you mean by "never told her my diagnosis"? Do you have genital herpes? Or a positive HSV blood test?
Even if you do, I doubt Valtrex will make any difference in your back pain. Probably the ID doc prescribed it hopefully but not really expecting it to help.
To that end, anytime you do suffer an outbreak the pain in your body before and during and outbreak (joint, back, muscle, fever, exhaustion, all over aches) is 10x worse on the implant leg. The pain is crazy weird. Its deep in the bone as though you can feel the actual implant? Good news: doesn't last. It does clear up as the outbreak dissipates. Would suggest you add liquid Ly-sine to your regime for herpes meds to keep outbreaks at bay.
Now i stopped taking valtrex and i get a mild pain in armpits after i shave a week ago and had a lump on my right arm almost sure it is lymph node from what im reading in the internet. The lump is 1cm not big at all but it hurts. This was last week thursday, i applied warm water and stopped shaving and took a valtrex and a keflex, the next day the bump went down and the right armpit is so much better.

If not severe i do the topical Acyclovir, if severe i get on the Valtrex immediately. The last 4 yrs it has recurred every month or so. It is now eating into my sacral nerves and i have neuralgia. Right now i have lesions and the pain shoots across both sides of the buttocks. It is creating sciatica down my legs. I also have a cutting sensation in the vagina at times and a feeling of something moving in the last 7 inches of my lower spine.
I started having joint pain a couple of weeks after gall bladder surgery. It is continually getting worse and in my shoulders, wrists and right jaw. My left hip joint has gotten better. I got diagnosed with hsv2 last fall. After continual outbreaks my doc finally put me on suppression therapy. I've had weight gain depression and now joint pain. It's a 6 month dose and one month to go. Does the joint pain go away after dosage is done? Does the weight come off? I exercise regularly and eat properly. Depression I know is a mental battle. I just don't like the joint pain as I'm trying to get this weight off.
