Valtrex would not interfere with the Oraquick (or any other ) HIV test. 9 months post-exposure is well outside the window period. You are conclusively HIV-negative.
I take valtrex to prevent cold sores, recently had an HIV test. Given its an anti-viral medication, I was wondering if it would have any impact on the results. I know for anti-biotic they tackle all basically tackle any bacterial infection.
Also I have read that you should wait 3 months to be tested. Which I will do but what is the accuracy of a test after 5 weeks ?
Why in the world would you think this would be a symptom of HIV? Doesn't sound like HIV at all!! HIV symptoms don't come and go like herpes does..
After some reading online, it seems that this medication may delay the HIV seroconversion. Does this mean that HIV symptoms would also be delayed or minimized?
I understand that I will not be sure until I take an HIV test, but I am hoping for some peace of mind until I get tested at the 3 month mark.

So it can be due to valtrex or emotional state but why are you having the possibility of HIV or hepatitis?Are you having any other accompanying symptom like fever,fatigue,extreme weight loss,yellowness of urine,decreased appetitie etc?
The small swellings in your armpit can be folliculitis,boils,hidradenitis suppurativa(skin disease that affects areas bearing sweat glands and hair follicles) and swollen lymph nodes.A clear cut diagnosis can only be made after examination.

You can have confidence in your HIV test results after 8 weeks. Further testing is not needed and will provide the same answers that you have already received.
my question was will Valtrex effect on the seroconversion? Will it increase the window period?
In my reach search it always goes back to HIV. I know the sure thing is to be tested.If i had contracted HIV when I got the herpes would it act that fast, with the continue outbreak of herpes? Since my first outbreak, that won't end. I don't sleep, highly stressed and cry all the time. The stress is wearing me down.
I also read that people have had outbreaks for several months but did not have HIV.?
I am currently on Valtrex for genital herpes and I was wondering if Valtrex or any other medications can affect an HIV result. In mid november this year i had one and tried medavir topical gel. i also took valtrex, the symptoms went away quickly and then a new bigger cluster appeared close by. i took valtrex again (6 pills in 3 days) those symptoms took about two weeks to fully clear. then a week or two later i noticed another bump and took another dose and cleared in a couple days. a week later another red area started and i'm finishing my valtrex and it's going away. four OB's in a month and a half.
I am 34 I have had the same sex partner for over 2 years. I get tested every year for STD's and HIV. This January I was diagnosed with HSV-2 my HIV test was negative. I have had no symptoms of HSV-2 but my doctor prescribed Valtrex. In March I began to have pus-like pimples on my scalp and face it drove me crazy for over a month. I went to the ER and was diagnosed with folliculitius and was given steroid and abx for 2 weeks.
7 degrees--so technically not a fever, but I did take acetominophen regularly to keep it down. after a few days of symptoms my doctor perscribed valtrex and nystatin, and after three days of taking each, my symptoms cleared--except for bright red dots on the anterior/ tip of the tongue--doctors say these are inflammed papules, and my tongue feels like its been mildly scalded. During my initial symptoms I also had what I would call persistent night sweats. Thankfully these symptoms cleared.
I bought some Valtrex and took the recommended dosage of 1000mg three times a day but I only continued that for a day and a half.
Now the soreness has calmed down and I'm wondering if I just have an over active imagination. I plan to get tested but I'm reading that the herpes test isn't very accurate until four to six weeks have passed. My plan if to get tested now for HIV and then get tested again in a couple of months for herpes.
