I recently was diagnosed with Herpes I've yet to go get a blood test done but I was put on Valtrex. I was so scared that I went and bout an Oraquick test I tested negative, two days later I still couldn't get it out of my mind and went and got two more tests while on Valtrex and all three said Negative. I know this question is asked over and over but, are my test conclusive even on Valtrex? My last exposure was 9 months ago if that wasn't clarified?
Could this possibly be related to HIV or do people not show symptoms of HIV for years? My previous partner kept reassuring he was HIV- and even went and got tested, but I just fear he could be lying about his test result. We started dating months ago and I slept with him starting 4 months ago and stopped 5 week's ago. Am I just being paranoid thinking these are symptoms.
I also have the condition of genital herpes for about 5 years now and hsv1 since I was a child, and some times I take valtrex madication due to many episodes. Now im taking 1 gm per day .
Im very worry, do hives are due to valtrex? or
emotion(I am very emotional and a worrier)
hives and cyst are allergy reactions to valtrex or
symptoms of a serious infection like hiv or hepatitis, etc

I spoke with the Director of the Lab and she said that they test HIV both with an antibody test and with the HIV NAT, which she informed me picks up infection within 12-13 days past exposure so I feel that my HIV scare is finally over now since it was 18 days past my exposure. Please correct me if I'm wrong but I really feel I can move on now. Thanks so much for all your help and advice and reassurance on this forum. Although, about a week ago I started experiencing some problems and went back to my dr and confirmed that I have HSV2. I started taking Valtrex and Cleocin for a bacterial infection and my outbreak. I'm not sure which medication it was, but i now have a rash on my chest and arms. My question is, is there still a possibility that I have HIV? I would think that it would have shown up in my blood test like the HSV did, but i dont know?
1) Since once daily valtex is antiviral, could it be possible that it supressed hiv antibodies and resulted in false negative?
2) Does the risk lessen with no edjaculation?
3) Could the rash on my trunk been from the medicine I started taking at the same time?
4) Is my 3 month rapid test accurate?
5) If someone was getting ARS, would there be more than just a rash, or can a rash be the only sign?
I shaved again and a day later my left armpit is hurting again,no bump, so i take a valtrex and a keflex and a bactrim and the pain lessed alot and now i amost feel nothing there.
have any of you experienced anything like this? Is it cancer or hiv? I was test for hiv and i was negative and i been with the same guy for 2 years and a half he tested 1 year ago, and 4 months ago negative as well. Umm SEXUAL HISTORY: all protected vaginal and some short unprotected oral.
I take valtrex to prevent cold sores, recently had an HIV test. Given its an anti-viral medication, I was wondering if it would have any impact on the results. I know for anti-biotic they tackle all basically tackle any bacterial infection.
Also I have read that you should wait 3 months to be tested. Which I will do but what is the accuracy of a test after 5 weeks ?

I have had 3 negative HIV tests (NAAT and PCR and antigen). I have been told these are conclusive. I was treated for gonorrhea and chlamydia within 10 days of exposure with rocefin shot and 2 grams of azithro (at the same time I might add). I was also supposed to use metrozindole vaginal cream (the same night), but used it once and woke up with excruciating pain in esophagus so I discontinued as I didn't have any discharge or signs at that time.
I am already diagnosed with HSV-2 and take Valacyclovir (Valtrex) 500mg daily. After some reading online, it seems that this medication may delay the HIV seroconversion. Does this mean that HIV symptoms would also be delayed or minimized?
I understand that I will not be sure until I take an HIV test, but I am hoping for some peace of mind until I get tested at the 3 month mark.
you're conclusively negative for hiv, and should move on from any more hiv thoughts and hiv googling. Good luck with the staph infection, and I hope your perplexed doctor finds a solution to resolve your health.
After 1 week of possible exposure i start having pain in my groin and arms lymph nodes. I got sore throat at 2nd week. I still have it. I got Hiv test at 2 weeks, 6 weeks and almost 11 weeks (7 Dec '09) after possible exposure. All came back negative.

I found out that I was Positive for herpies 2 have had a continues outbreak going on 7 weeks. With ulcers and severe burning to my tongue and throat. I just completed nystatin for thrush and 4 weeks of valtrex. I have had no relief from the symptoms. I am also on doxycyline and havee lupus. Has anypne else experience these symptoms?
most folks who do, experience it initially when diagnosed and go on valtrex and are incredibly stressed. for most , it does come back. I do know of less than a handful of folks who experienced hair loss while on valtrex, they could find no other cause for it and even after stopping the valtrex the hair loss did not stop.
at this point continue to follow up on this with the dermatologist. they are your best bet.
