Well my last possible exposure to HIV was 5 weeks ago with unprotected sex with my bf (I'm gay), he told me he was negative but I'm not sure If he cheated on me. Anyways I get bad coldsore breakouts so i take Valtrex daily to prevent them. Well I had a rapid oraquick test today at 5 weeks and it was negative. But I was told that antivirals could delay seroconversion and that valtrex could delay HIV bit I don't know of that's true sinc it's only for herpes.

Valtrex would not interfere with the Oraquick (or any other ) HIV test. 9 months post-exposure is well outside the window period. You are conclusively HIV-negative.

I take valtrex to prevent cold sores, recently had an HIV test. Given its an anti-viral medication, I was wondering if it would have any impact on the results. Valtrex is usually for herpes infections and they usually just treat gbs with IV antibiotics when you're in labor so idk id call them back and ask why they gave you that?

It is a good indicator yes at 8 weeks. However, you will need to test again at 3 months to get a conclusive result. The rash you describe is non-specific. Believe it or not, anxiety can produce such symptoms ( you being worried about the situation). Also, I know what valtrex is for, however I am not sure of it's side effects. After some reading online, it seems that this medication may delay the HIV seroconversion. Does this mean that HIV symptoms would also be delayed or minimized? Because I was unresponsive the doctor switched me to Valtrex, and still no response. I was using Valtrex for over a year before the (supposed) outbreak cleared up. He gave me a prescription for famvir, and told me to use it when I had a genital herpes episode for five to seven days. He said It was not neccesary to be on valtrex for a month or three months as the infectuos diseases doctor said. He also wants me to tell him if with famvir I experience the same side effects. Its being a week since I don't experience the cysts in my armpits.

2 I seen an obgyn for this test. Went to a FMD which perscribed the nystatin and the continuation of the valtrex. I also went an seen my family dentist yesterday and said I did have signs of herpies and the yeast was clearing up. I am to continue the magic mouth wash for the discomfort. He also said the stress was causing some of the ulcers. He is referring me to a oral pathologist for further testing. I can come to grips with having the herpies but I am afraid I have contracted HIV.

Hello, about two years ago i was diagnosed with hsv2 after a blood test. i had a cluster of sore like blisters appear in the super pubic region but not on my penis. this occured 6 days after the encounter. The first test i took was negative for hsv1&2 and syphillis. my DR. said they could be the only causes of the symptoms i had. the condom broke and i put another one on as soon as i noticed. i am almost totally sure i contracted hsv2 from her, and not someone else.
