Not really. I just knew that if I took Valtrex immediately after exposure that the virus would be unable to function well with that in my body. It takes about 2 days before the virus makes its way to the Sacral Sensory Ganglion.
do u mean carrier of hpv on cervix or genital warts?have ur paps cme up clean for hpv?my understanding of genital herpes is once u get it u always have it..and partner can get infected when u have outbreak and not taking valtrex....important question is ur partners hx of std's and what he could b bringing to u!
I have Hsv2 and I'm on valtrex daily as a suppressant. For the last 6 or 7 weeks now, I've had one blister under my vaginal lip that wont seem to go away unlike the rest of my blisters that have disappeared in a couple weeks or so when they appear. It looks like a herpes blister. Has a off-whitish look to it. Now I'm paranoid what if it is another std, like Hpv or something?? I'm going to call my doctor tomorrow. But any suggestions?

But since my outbreak my skin around my vagina and vulva has been itchy and red almost every day, and sex causes little tears in the skin down there. Is this normal?
i have had gentile herpes for at least five years, i take valtrex when ever i have a breack out and i did the hole valterx for a year thing also. what are the chances of my partner, catching this from me with unprotected sex. (he has a very good amun system, never even had a cold sore.)
p.s i also have HPV. but i have also had this for years and i heard it goes away on its own, also, is that true?
Hopefully, there will be a vaccine in the next 5 years. Clinically trials are in the works now. However, it's only for people not infect with herpes. Im praying for a cure for all those including me infected with herpes.
Thanks for the info Grace. I plan on asking him to have a test as well to be sure. I've never heard of gardasil shots, what are they and what do they do?
Also, is Valtrex the best medication for suppressive therapy or should I try something else?

he knows of my status and i take daily valtrex. he was also recently diagnosed with hpv (he had warts). his major concern is getting hsv from me. i rarely have outbreaks and i take suppressive therapy daily and i always check myself. what are the risks of him contracting it if we have a long term relationship? is it eventually inevitable? ive read and heard so much conflicting info.
In December 2009 during my annual blood screening, my doctor told me I tested positive for both HSV1 (5.46) and HSV2 (10.79). I was tested the year prior and came back negative for both. Additionally, I have not had any symptoms. I immediately began taking Valtrex to avoid infecting my fiance (but I had been with a number of women since my last negative test). Last week (14-Jun-11) I went to my new dr for annual testing and requested HSV retesting.
my wife and i just got tested for std's and I came back all neg, and she came back with hpv 1 and 2 ,how can she have this and not me , we dont use protection and we have been together over 2 years
I went to the gynecologist one day after discovering the bumps and was swab tested for herpes. I also started the Valtrex. She diagnosed me with herpes as well, (since at that time the IGM test had not came back). After 5 more days of taking Valtrex, the bumps were still there, and I have a new one right next to my vaginal opening. The viral culture of the bumps came back negative.

Two part question, if you don't mind What's the absolute risk of acquiring HPV per sexual episode if someone is on suppressive therapy and we use a condom and what if I were also to take Valtrex for a few days prior and after our encounters? I assume that would reduce the risk even further. Oooops, one more thing.
Is it preventable for my partners? Is HPV genital warts? What are long term effects? Does HPV cause HSV or vice versa? How long can HPV lay dormant? Does the high risk of the Pap mean higher cancer risk? Will HPV ever go away, even if it is cervical cancer? My doctor said that even though I had a Pap three months ago that was mild risk and now only 3 months later, it is high risk, that this was "rapid cell change", what does this really mean?

They have been there for at least 2 years or so. I tried a lot of different antibiotics, cream for scar, valtrex, even with 800mg aciclovir ( I was tested positive for both types of herpes ). They did not go away.
They are not painful, no discharge, tiny, not clustered. They dont seem to increase.
They don't look like fordyce spots nor Pearly Penile Papules(from the pictures I can find online).

recently diagnosed with hsv 1 & 2 genital. started valtrex suppressive theory approx 24 days ago. i came down with an infection on a peritonsillat abscess which compromised my white blodd cell count to nearly 9000 and was eventually hospitalized to get condition and pain from abscess under control. now home i feel tingling and noticed one small vaginal lesion, obviously my hpv. this would be my 2nd outbreak ever so i dont know what to expect.
I thought that I had a bad yeast infection. Then I noticed some bumps down there. I had been diagnosed with hpv a few months ago. I went to a walk in clinic and the Dr. there A. did not do a urine sample, B. tried to do an exam with out lube on my lower area thus causing so much pain I screamed, C. did a culture but said well this is a text book case of type 2 herpes and just gave me a script for Valtrex, D. He didn't even prescribe antibiotics or anything in case it was something else.
When I went to the doctor she took a look and said herpes without testing me and put me on valtrex and said if it goes away its herpes. We want to have kids sooner than later, so the gameplan is to use condoms for two years so the HPV will clear. My wife has also decided we should avoid oral sex for 2 years as well, just to be on the safe side.
Are all of these prevention techniques necessary or 100%? Does HPV clear in 2 years of monogamous sex? I'm wondering how well a condom actually protects - a condom doesn't create a barrier between the genitals during sex (i.e. some parts still touch).
