I went to my PCP who diagnosed me with herpes from visual inspection. He prescribed me Valtrex and tested IGG and IGM antibodies. The bump was already going away so I did not start the Valtrex. 5 days later I discovered two more small bumps on the inner labia minora. I went to the gynecologist one day after discovering the bumps and was swab tested for herpes. I also started the Valtrex. She diagnosed me with herpes as well, (since at that time the IGM test had not came back).
he knows of my status and i take daily valtrex. he was also recently diagnosed with hpv (he had warts). his major concern is getting hsv from me. i rarely have outbreaks and i take suppressive therapy daily and i always check myself. what are the risks of him contracting it if we have a long term relationship? is it eventually inevitable? ive read and heard so much conflicting info.
do u mean carrier of hpv on cervix or genital warts?have ur paps cme up clean for hpv?my understanding of genital herpes is once u get it u always have it..and partner can get infected when u have outbreak and not taking valtrex....important question is ur partners hx of std's and what he could b bringing to u!
I am a heterosexual female. I have been taking 500mg of Valtrex everyday since and have only had one outbreak (the original one). What are the chances I transmit HSV2 to my male partner through oral and vaginal sex? I am also curious to know what is the risk of transmission from vaginal sex with and without condoms. I am really nervous to tell my new partner that I have herpes but having some stats about his risk of infection would be helpful. Thank you.
Since then I have had 2 minor outbreaks, both on my waist near the navel. I currently use Valtrex when I feel an outbreak coming on and it seems to suppress the symptoms.

You are so right...there are vaccines for Chicken Pox, Shingles, HPV, Hepatitis A & B, MMR, Seasonal FLU and Swine Flu and so many other viruses. There surely has to be one for herpes soon. You can check out the NIH, University of Florida, Duke University and clinical trial websites. There are several vaccines being tested and in trial now. I am prayin for better treatment. If I can be asymptomatic, half of the battle would be won. Lets keep praying and being optimistic.
I am going through a very uncomfortable situation and i will try to make this as short as possible. I had an HIV Exposure DEC 31 2015, I did a 4th gen HIV Test at 10 weeks result was negative then I did an oraquick at 6 months came back negative. However i had been drinking wine before the test was done and didn't wait 20 min. 2. Unfortunately i came positive for HSV 2 And HPV and develop a few warts in the anal area which are now been treated.
I am on suppressive therapy with Valtrex and am wondering if anyone has experienced lethargy and loss of appetite (lost 5 lbs.) due to this medication? I suppose it could also be due to the emotional roller coaster I've been on since being diagnosed. I'm also wondering about herpes and cervical cancer. Is there any link?
i have been to my reg gyno, a gyno oncologist which has ruled out cancer cause of the dysplasia caused by the hpv, and an urogynecologist. we are trying to resolve the ongoing pressure and pain. i have had pelvic u/s and vaginal u/s done, normal results. plenty of PAPs and copos. urinalysis showed no sign of infection, or blood. i do not go to the bathroom often. and it does not specifically burn just when i use the bathroom, only if i have lesions.
Army health care is a joke. No tests, no referrals, just throw some drugs at it and hope. I researched Valtrex immediately and realized that it has no correlation to HPV. I was clean before I got married, and my wife only had HPV, but had never had an outbreak or any symptoms. I'll probably just have to wait 3 months till I can go back to Germany (and decent healthcare) to get a test to rule out HSV. Thanks for responding.
s not a hard and fast rule - I was on Valtrex from day 1, and tested positive at about 2.5 weeks - shocked my doctor and me - but it can in some people.
If you want to know if the red bumps are herpes, stop taking the Valtrex. If they still fade away, and don't blister, it's not.
Diarrhea is also not a symptom of herpes. That could be from Omicron, from anxiety, something you ate, etc.
New girlfriend with HPV-1 and HPV-2. I am negative for both. I have read the Valtrex study.
Two part question, if you don't mind What's the absolute risk of acquiring HPV per sexual episode if someone is on suppressive therapy and we use a condom and what if I were also to take Valtrex for a few days prior and after our encounters? I assume that would reduce the risk even further. Oooops, one more thing.
they only way to REALLY protect yiour other partners is to not have sex, but since your active just make sure you use a condom everytime and do no sleep with anyone who your having an outbreak....and be honest with them....HPV has a couple of strands of genital warts and other strands could cause cancer if not treated....HPV can lay dormant for 10+ years.....rapid cell change means your cells are changing fast.... did they mention doing a colposcopy??...
i came down with an infection on a peritonsillat abscess which compromised my white blodd cell count to nearly 9000 and was eventually hospitalized to get condition and pain from abscess under control. now home i feel tingling and noticed one small vaginal lesion, obviously my hpv. this would be my 2nd outbreak ever so i dont know what to expect. it is not near as bad as the first one which was 2 months ago. I also have been getting bug bite looking sores on my arms, legs , and face.

Best is to get on with it: be upfront with future or current partner/s...then you have done your part. The rest is up to them.
They have been there for at least 2 years or so. I tried a lot of different antibiotics, cream for scar, valtrex, even with 800mg aciclovir ( I was tested positive for both types of herpes ). They did not go away.
They are not painful, no discharge, tiny, not clustered. They dont seem to increase.
They don't look like fordyce spots nor Pearly Penile Papules(from the pictures I can find online).
By the time I noticed them, I had not had sex at all.
About 90% or more of folks who have hsv2, have no idea until tested. Most folks expect very obvious and painful blisters as signs of being infected and don't think twice about milder signs. He definitely needs tested so that you two can make informed decisions together. the westover heights site has a terrific patient counseling video on it too for both of you to sit down and watch as well as the handbook there to read together.
