t been bothered by the elbow bumps much, but recently I felt a herpes ob coming on, and I took about 4 Valtrex pills a dayfor 2 days - the skin on my elbows got really dry and then the rash came up at both elbows and in all the other places. I keep reading that Valtrex doesn't cause allergies - but why do I seem to be having a reaction to it? the Valtrex seems to really dry out my skin and scalp also.
I upped Valtrex to 1500mg a day for five days and nothing happened. Could I be allergic to the Valtrex and only have a rash on part of my body? Any ideas what to do? I thought it might be a herpes rash, but I would think after ten years, the rash would go away within 7-12 days. It seems to be getting worse even using the Valtrex. Any help would be appreciated.
I am suffering the same exact symptoms and it has been 2 weeks since I stopped taking Valtrex and have been on prednisone and atarax for the itchy rash that is so random and comes and goes. It is driving me insane.

I've read many symptoms that individuals on here are having but haven't seen one yet that fits my description. I to have the red rash like places on the head and shaft of penis now for almost 2 months. Other than them being there I have no side affects. No discharge, itching, burning , nothing. However, during the initial break out of this the skin on my penis became very dry and was peeling off like crazy for about 2 wks or so.
Any way i started valtres and topical steroid the same day and just after single application of topical steroid and valtrex my rash started to get better.Blisters were gone the next day and by3rd day my rash was cleared.I called my doctor again who thinks herpes does'nt clear that fast.I never had any history of any STD now i am freaking out.Is it herpes do u think.
What do I do if Valtrex doesn't work? I found out I have HSV-2 and they gave me Valtrex and told me not to have sex if I have symptoms. I had high antibodies so they think I have had this for years. The problem is that even at 2 grams of Valtrex per day, I have constant outbreak marks - not painful lesions, but red marks on the buttocks that normally I might not even notice.
To get hsv, there needs to be actual skin to skin contact and a lot of friction. Did you guys have any clothes on? I'm with feeling undone, I doubt you've contracted hsv. Most people will show symptoms of an outbreak within 3-10 days after exposure, but could take up to 21 days. Don't stress though, you're probably fine.
They prescribed a strong antibiotic and valtrex. I am waiting for test results now, and I very concerned. Today, blisters are mostly gone, and pain is less. Could it be anything other than herpes? Is it possible to spread herpes before you have an actual outbreak, say, three days after you come into contact with it?

I have a few small blisters on my back under the shoulder blade, then one under my right breast, and one on my nipple. They have been there for about a week, and are itchy, sore and red at times. But I am having pain that comes and goes in the band between the back and around to the breast. Could this be shingles?
On a side note, the same general doc gave me valtrex for a rash that I had on my upper lip that sometimes itch and burn. the valtrex did nothing, and then I started to doubt that the rash was caused by herpes because I never had blister or sores and I don't think an herpes outbreak don't last the whole winter ( which is when I usually had it), or a whole year.
I also have the condition of genital herpes for about 5 years now and hsv1 since I was a child, and some times I take valtrex madication due to many episodes. Now im taking 1 gm per day .
Im very worry, do hives are due to valtrex? or
emotion(I am very emotional and a worrier)
hives and cyst are allergy reactions to valtrex or

I went to an Urgent Care Clinic and he diagnosed it as Herpes Zoster and prescribed Valtrex 1g 3 times a day. Over the next few days the rash spread down to my mid thigh and on to the top of my penis shaft. The rash has remained only on the left side of my body. Since the rash spread onto my penis I have become very worried about it being actual Genital Herpes.
t think it was herpes but did a culture from my urethra and gave me valtrex. The herpes culture was negative and she told me to stop the valtrex. Since that day I still complained of burning in my urethra and penis head so she sent me to a urologist who was clueless, he said everything seemed normal. A week or 2 later I saw a dermatologist who gave me a prescription for valtrex and did the herpes blood test. The test was negative, it had only been 4 weeks after initial symptoms.
Husband has had HSV-2 for 14 years. He has taken Valtrex for suppression and outbreak treatments during our 7 yr. marriage. We also use condoms consistently. Recently he had direct hand-genital contact (stratching he thought was jock itch), next day had a genital outbreak and about 2-3 days later massive outbreak on both hands and little on his feet.
no burning sensation while urinating! suddenly three days before i got some itchy reddish skin rash on chest and thighs! it disappeared with my yeast infection medicines!!
Well i forgot to mention that i dont have the habit of cleaning my inner skin of penis with soap! :-( Hence the infection is due to that?? Or i undergone unprotected oral sex and protected sex with a sex worker 2 months ago

I went to a different doctor, made all tests under the sun, everything is negative with the exception of HSV-1 (blood test), but since I've had herpes on my lips since childhood I doubt it has anything to do with my penile rash. Anyway I followed doc's instructions and took valtrex for 2 weeks. It barely cleared rash, maybe made it a little less visible, but didn't do much to completely eliminate it.
I was diagnosed with GHSV 1 on May 11, 2011 via a culture swab to what looked like a very mild rash on the side of my penis and on my scrotum. The rash appeared to be disappearing after about a week, but flared up and covered my entire scrotum about a week later. The rashing on the penis has not gotten any worse, however it has not subsided either.
Although, about a week ago I started experiencing some problems and went back to my dr and confirmed that I have HSV2. I started taking Valtrex and Cleocin for a bacterial infection and my outbreak. I'm not sure which medication it was, but i now have a rash on my chest and arms. My question is, is there still a possibility that I have HIV? I would think that it would have shown up in my blood test like the HSV did, but i dont know?
Development of skin sensitivity and slight burning sensation in T1 (armpit and down to forearm), and to T11-12 (flank at belt line) - resolved by day 6.

Days 5-7: mild burning sensations and hyperesthesias in left foot (L5), left hand C8), and generalized increased sensitivity to touch on my entire left side (such that if I were not going through all of this, I probably would not have even noticed it).
Over the course of the last 5 1/2 months I have had constant nerve issues in my (burning, tingling, sharp pain, and sensitive to touch) legs butt, groin, arm, and hand. The skin between my testicals and leg are constantly burning, but no sores. I have a lot of itching and some times it feels like I am getting bit by tiny bugs up and down my legs (mostly right near the top of my knee), on my butt, and in my groin. The herpetic rash is very small, almost none extistant.
