Avatar m tn Hi mi mi. LuvD is right. Do this under the strict supervision of your cardiologist. All the meds and changes can put a lot of stress on your heart. Sounds like you are going up the ladder in potency of drugs, and Im not sure I fully understand your situation. Hydro, oxy and dilaudid are potent, morphine is very potent and sub is more potent that. Why are you going on subs? I strongly suggest you don't. Id rather see you on the morphine. Can you tell us a little more of your story?
237039 tn?1264258057 The oxygenated effect may be due to the dilation of blood vessels and better circulation of blood/oxygen. also the beneficial effect of morphine in patients with pulmonary edema as in CHF is, also, unequivocal. The danger or risk associated with a heart attack may be the result of decreased blood pressure and a slow down in the heart rate and that could add negative factors to an already stressed heart under some circumstances.
Avatar f tn Complained all thru the night , given morphine 3 x with no relief. Following morning taken back found 2 of the 3 stents occluded causing acute MI , anterial wall injury with no flow phenomenon . Now have chronic heart failure with no quality of life : What could have caused the stents thrombosis in the distal side branch of lad ? Would it have made a difference if they had realized sooner than 9 hrs that I was having acute MI.
Avatar f tn I had an MI in '05, and had a RCA stent placed. I was on plavix apox. 4 yrs because of family hx and my paranoia of another MI. I recently have been experiencing tingling and numbness in my hands upon awaking and have noticed small spider veins appearing on my thighs. I am a nurse on a MedSurg unit. I am concerned that my stent is becoming occulded. My doctor took me off plavix Jan'10 and kept me on 325 Aspirin.

Avatar m tn m no doctor) frequent VPCs (PVCs) are a worrying finding in the setting of acute MI. The question is if your heart is damaged from your MI, or if it has recovered well. In the setting of structural heart disease, PVCs can trigger a sustained tachycardia due to what is called a "re-entry phenomena" causing the PVC to "loop" and fire several PVCs in a row/salvo, possible triggering more dangerous arrhythmias.
Avatar m tn It could also be due to stiff neck as is seen in computer users. A MI of the upper cervical spine should be done if the following tips do not help you: Use a hard bed to sleep. Avoid a pillow. Roll a towel and place it under your neck while sleeping. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

Avatar m tn I am currently taking plavix, 81mg aspirin AND coumadin on a daily basis. I had a stent put in in July 2008 and triple by pass in 2006. I'm 64 and had my first MI at 33. My father died of an MI at 46, my EF is under 30%. My EP (at one hospital) just suggested I eliminate the plavix while my CHF specialist (at a nearby major research university) said I would be on plavix for a "long time" (forever?).

Avatar f tn How much morphine and how long have you been using it? Morphine is natural and one of the faster detoxes. I was on high dose methadone, so subs save my life, but methadone is synthetic, just like subs. It lingers in your system for a long time and causes extended withdrawal. Subs can be acquired with a voucher from the manufacturer for up to a year, but I don't think that would be the easiest way in your situation.
Avatar f tn My neurosurgeon said that a person can develop tolerance with long-term use of a pump because the amount of morphine would have to increase as the pain increases, just like it does with oral pain meds. Has anyone had this experience? What did you or your doctor do? Question 2 WITHDRAWAL My same neurosurgeon said that if the pump broke releasing the morphine inside, a person would go into severe witihdrawal. Has this happened to anyone? I would think that overdose would be more likely...

I use to work in the medical field and they are judge patients who take a lot of medication. I have been so sick had insurance, needed to be in the hospital and was sent home. My family hates me being on it. I am on disablility because of my back, andI want to get off of this type of med, any sugguestions would be appreciated, I go to the Doctor this next week.
Avatar n tn I am assuming the MI is ischemic (lack of blood flow to the heart). It is estimated about 26% of the heart disorder population have had a silent heart attack and are unaware. I had had a silent heart attack about 5 years ago, and the first symptom was congested heart failure. Heart cells where ineffective in contracting the ventricle due to a lack of blood supply.
Avatar m tn Should he switch to oxycontin, in lue of his stomach issues? I am afraid if he stays on morphine he will have even further problems down the road. Any information regarding this matter would be GREATLY! appreciated! Thanks.
