Avatar n tn lowering meds, including isosorbide, due to the concern of the low b.p. When released, she had a lot of swelling in the ankles and difficult breathing. Although most of the swelling has gone down, she still has trouble breathing, just by doing small tasks, even as simple as getting up to get a drink. She takes 20mg of lasix and continues to have little urine output. Other meds include Coumadin, Lipitor, Coreg, Aspirin, 7.
237039 tn?1264258057 Now I am reading articles that say that patients that are given Morphine during a heart attack actually have a higher risk of death. I know in my case, that as soon as the Morphine was injected through my IV I felt chest pressure. Any thoughts on this? Should I refuse this if it comes up again?
Avatar f tn In 2002 she had a very bad fall in the middle of the night and was taken into hospital. She was in considerable pain, but lucid and coherent. She was put on Morphine for around 2 days. During that time she suffered severe hallucinations, and has never been the same since. Every time she has a shock (like my father dying, or minor cataract surgery) she suddebly gets worse, but seems to plateau the rest of the time. She still has not a diagnosis but I suspect dementia.
Avatar n tn s doc says it might caz of too much of medicine use and thy say he got water in his heart i didnt get it plz anyone can help me to understand . he is 57y old .
Avatar f tn Instruct patients against use by individuals other than the patient for whom MS CONTIN was prescribed and to keep MS CONTIN out of the reach of children, as such inappropriate use may result in fatal respiratory depression.
Avatar f tn t know why someone who has several stents is higher risk than someone who has had congested heart failure. I read one doctor who stated the plavix medication was justified because of a history of heart failure..
Avatar f tn My husband 62 years old with chf and an effort of 10-15%. When last in hospital February 2017 where they put him on dobutamine and we decided on hospice care. Hospice is now hinting that they want to stop. I need to know if it is a money thing for them or it just isn't working.
Avatar m tn I'm sure you are very worried. Let me try to help.............a bit. First of all - I have experienced Pulmonary Edema on 2 serious occasions in '08. Both - life threatening..........the second - so life threatening that I experienced Respiratory Failure at my local hospital and had to be airlifted to the central hospital here in Maine. I was put in a coma and was not expected to live. I am a 58 y.o. male with an Ejection Fraction of 10-15% since '03.
Avatar n tn I have not heard of EECP, and I will certainly research it and review it with my cardiologist. You are correct in assuming that I use a regimen of drugs to treat my heart failure, including lots of nitro throughout the day. I still exercise daily, but if I try to stretch it, my symptoms are appear, and my blood sugar spikes as a result of the stress on the heart ( or so I think). It is not uncommon in these circumstances to have my blood sugar go into the 400's.
Avatar m tn Am I in risk of a heart attack? what can I do about this?
Avatar f tn It could be anxiety, or the pneumonia, or just the heart. He has congestive heart failure so he has a weak heart. His doctors are not giving us answers, they just keep saying we have to wait. They also said if he was a 90 year old they would have pulled the plug on him but since he's only 61 they are trying their best. He's still on morphine 3mg/h but not on a sedation and he opens his eyes but he has this blank stare like he's still dreaming or something.
Avatar m tn D but my meds were altered in the hospital. They kept on my normal dose of klonopin while also administering .5-1mg xanax every six hours as needed and 30mg temazapam to sleep at night. On top of this they were administering 4mg morphine IV every 3 hours. I have never been on this many meds at once I was so sedated in the hospital...I wouldn't be surprised if I developed cross tolerance.
Avatar m tn in my case the neurologist had me on celebrex, lyrica, dilaudid, and lortabs before surgery. After surgery I did not use the morphine pump at all so they thought (as I did) that all was well. Surgery does not work, go in for another, and now it is two years with constant narcotic pain relievers. Second surgery is worse... sent home after spinal surgery from the recovery room while still bleeding, go back in, get dilaudid by I.V. till next morning....
Avatar n tn Thank YOu. I am a bit late in getting back. I apologize. I am still swelling and it is a guessing game with the Cardio's in the clinic. I am tired. of talking about it with them. I sound like a broken record. I am tired of describing an upper chest flutter that results in dizziness. This is usually a 10 second thing. They look at me like I am nuts. I tried ignoring it. Last Spring I had a stroke in the cerebellum. They assume it must be A-Fib. Was not given TP-A.
Avatar m tn As a follow up to my original post, is it common in final stages of congestive heart failure for the patient to not be able to digest food? My father is fed liquid food through a feeding tube, and it seems to me he is not digesting it. He coughs up material that looks like a hardened form of the liquid food, and there is a foul smell coming from his mouth and the tube area. I wonder if the food is just rotting in his gut undigested.
Avatar f tn Salt causes a retention in fluid. I hope this helps somewhat. The fluid is making your heart work harder, and when it cannot keep up, the fluid seeps through the walls of the vessels.
Avatar n tn He is also on a internal pain pump which dispenses morphine for the original malady of chronic pain. He is really out of it. Like he has dementia. We dont know what to do. He is too weak for interferon and will probably need a liver sooner or later. Does anyone have any experience with this sort of thing or know what I am talking about.
Avatar f tn Can naproxyn really cause congestive heart failure? How so? Also, a friend of mine said that it can also be brought on by eating poorly, meaning eating too much cheese & fried foods, because cheese clogs up your arteries and can lead to heart problems. Is this all correct? I mean how much is too much? Thank you ahead of time.
Avatar n tn My father has the same damage as what you are speaking of. I did some research of the use of Co Enzyme Q10. It is a natural supplement that are hearts contain. Dr's do not tell you unless tell them. If you hae been on any statin drugs they can actually deplete you heart of this natural enzyme that it needs to function properly. In my Dad's case I mention my findings to the cardiologist and asked him if it would be okay to supplement this along with all medications.
Avatar f tn If the heart function does not recover after these treatment, you can consider the use of a heart-failure-treatning pacemaker (cardiac resynchronization therapy). This devise is implanted to subcutaneous layer (under the skin) and stimulates the heart. Some patients do not respond to all of these treatment. In such case, cardiac transplantation is considered. Many people with initial ejection fraction of 15% survive 5 years.
