Uroxatral vs rapaflo

Common Questions and Answers about Uroxatral vs rapaflo

uroxatral

Avatar n tn m also not a doctor, but do take Rapaflo which I much preferred over Flomax (only occasional minor headaches vs. more constant ones, & almost no sinus congestion vs. significant congestion). I see some confusion by many over the "retrograde ejaculation" talked about by many. True retrograde ejaculation is when the semen is diverted into the bladder rather than being expelled out thru the penis. It can usually be identified by a modest foaming in the urine after the event.
1831849 tn?1383228392 I saw my urologist he other day and she said that she now like Rapaflo (slidosin) more than Flomax (tamsulosin) for urinary hesitancy. Both are designed to address benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). I know the primary audience is men, but there are women who take tamsulosin for urinary hesitancy. I was taking the max dose of tamsulosin, .8mg/day. I'm now taking 8mg Rapaflo/day. I'm told that it will take 4-5 days to see the full benefit if Rapaflo and I'm now on day 3.
Avatar n tn All negative. Urologist thought it could prostatitis. He put me on Rapaflo and it took care of that problem then. Now since last 10 days, I am getting pain and tingling on penis shaft. using Rapaflo again now. pain in pelvic region reduced a lot but the penis pain is still there. don't know what is the cause of this problem. My PSA test result shows 0.8. I have a teenager and busy at work. getting depressed with this issue.
Avatar n tn I will be on a alpha blocker (rapaflo, similar to flomax) for several days prior to stent removal. It is supposed to relax the ureter. Will rapaflo prevent the severe pain or just not make it last as long? Not sure what expectations are for this medication.
Avatar m tn I have had an ultrasound of the prostate which checked out fine and have been tested for chlamydia and gonorhea, which both came back negative. I am currently taking uroxatral and avodart daily, and am curious as to why I am still having symptoms. Is it possible of being overmedicated? Or is there something that has been missed? If so what other possibilities are there?
3123787 tn?1384180687 Hi Dr. Santos. I want to thank you for ur response. I first went to a hospital, cas of my severe cluster headaches. I brought my brother up from California, so he could see my suffering. These clusters seemed to be more severe than my past ones? What happenned first, was i went to a local hosp., & they insisted on injecting me with what they said would stop my re-bound clusters. I told them, i was now fine, cas the headache went away.
Avatar f tn There is another class of medications, such as Uroxatral, which can help shrink your prostate and improve your symptoms. the results of this class of medications, however, often take many weeks before they make a major differences. Ultimately, flomax and drugs like uroxatral can be combined to give maximal medical therapy for BPH. Sometimes men continue to have problems and may be candidates for surgical intervention to improve symptoms.
Avatar m tn I’ve been on Ciprofloxacin (antibiotic), followed by Sulfamethoxyzole (antibiotic) plus Naproxen (anti-inflammatory). Currently I’m on Uroxatral, to help relax my bladder muscles to ease emptying, and further aid my prostate healing. These medications may be helping, but to be thorough I also had ultrasounds of my bladder and testes and doppler (vascular study) of my penis.
Avatar f tn I was sent to a urologist to look into this who gave me rapaflo, scheduled MRIs of my Lumbosacral spine as well as SI Joints, sacrum, and coccyx, and had me do a cystoscopy in the beginning of october. The MRIs came back clear (no focal abnormalities within pelvis incl sacroiliac joints, sacrum, and coccyx) (lumbar, normal alignments, vertebral body heights and disc spaces maintained, no abnormal marrow signal is evident, no abnormal cord signal is seen.
Avatar n tn I have been experiencing retrograde ejaculation from taking Flomax and Uroxatral for several years. Will normal ejaculation return if I stop the medication? How long will it take?
Avatar m tn Burning urination, urgency feeling, bladder fullness, sudden onset, presented low grade fever 2 different antibiotics (Azithro and Doxy) patient relapsed on both, after and during course respectively. Given Rapaflo, initial relief then burning urethra and frequency returned. Pyridium provides 80% relief to patient for burning urethra and frequency. Avatar n tn Now that your bladder has recompensated, you might actually be able to empty using an alpha blocker such as Uroxatral or Flomax, but I would not recommend doing that in the long term as you are skating on the edge of decompensating again. I would recommend that you have a prostatectomy and then be followed for adequacy of emptying and urinary tract infections.
Avatar n tn I was givin medcations obviously with no improvement and after the medications he decided he wanted to give me a prostate massage And rapaflo. The prostate massage was very painful and I noiced a pinching sting at the tip of my penis durring it that still comes and flies to this day.
Avatar m tn The cystocopy went well. Evrything was fine, but the doctor gave a perscription for rapaflo. I made a bad mistake 11 months ago and i have been trying to move forward. I thank GOD for the negative test results that has returned. I have tested for everything at the right time to give accurate results and all have returned negative. Just dont know what else to do.
Avatar m tn I am currently taking Dutasteride, but have taken Rapaflo, Myrbetrig and others over the years. They work for 3 months then right back to same urination issues. I am concerned about elevating PSA numbers but have not gotten answers after seeing 4 different urologist! Ideas ? Thanks for your times!
Avatar m tn He put me on Cipro 500mg 2x day for 4 weeks and uroxatral 10mg 1xday. This regimen did not help so I then went on septra DS for only 9 days (3 week prescription) because I didn't notice an improvement (hindsight probably stopped this one too early). He then put me on 10 weeks at 100mg 2x day.
Avatar n tn I am still seeing a doc and will keep you up to date.
Avatar m tn Before it passed, my urologist suspected a stone and put me on Rapaflo. Pain was very mild, which surprised me. I just had an ultrasound today, which showed I have 4 more stones from the same kidney (left) ranging from 6 to 9mm. No obstructions or masses noted. Right kidney was clear. Incidental finding was I have some gallstones, which have not bothered me yet. I have concerns this is related to possible hypercalcemia--which can indicate hyperparathyroidism and malignancy.
Avatar m tn s office that turned up no answers. I was given Uroxatral to try but have seen no difference in almost three weeks. I've also started to take saw palmetto about two weeks ago but still nothing. I just can't feel relieved after I go to the bathroom. I always feel like I have to urinate. My bladder empties fine, according to uroflow tests but my stream is that of a man in his 80's not a man like me who will be 25 in December.
Avatar m tn we are brothers in this...I echo your first two sentences. when I was 25, I thought it was something I picked up in Viet Nam...now, at 66, after endless urologists and medications (latest attempt, Rapaflo) I also echo your comment...'this is my burden..no negative thinking'...nobody knows like we do that there is no simple answer...no amount of caffeine or stress can explain what we are going through..
