I have had an ultrasound of the prostate which checked out fine and have been tested for chlamydia and gonorhea, which both came back negative. I am currently taking uroxatral and avodart daily, and am curious as to why I am still having symptoms. Is it possible of being overmedicated? Or is there something that has been missed? If so what other possibilities are there?
Flomax does not seem to be making an improvement in frequency of urination--does this have an indication that cancer is more likely? In other words, if nodule were benign would the Flomax be likely to work better? Does progressive increase in frequency indicate a higher chance of cancer?
I’ve been on Ciprofloxacin (antibiotic), followed by Sulfamethoxyzole (antibiotic) plus Naproxen (anti-inflammatory). Currently I’m on Uroxatral, to help relax my bladder muscles to ease emptying, and further aid my prostate healing. These medications may be helping, but to be thorough I also had ultrasounds of my bladder and testes and doppler (vascular study) of my penis.
I have been experiencing retrograde ejaculation from taking Flomax and Uroxatral for several years. Will normal ejaculation return if I stop the medication? How long will it take?
Could you be thinking of Topamax, which can have the side effect of weight loss when used for other indications, so is sometimes used for that purpose?
Now that your bladder has recompensated, you might actually be able to empty using an alpha blocker such as Uroxatral or Flomax, but I would not recommend doing that in the long term as you are skating on the edge of decompensating again. I would recommend that you have a prostatectomy and then be followed for adequacy of emptying and urinary tract infections.

urinary tract infection, interstitial cystitis, intake of diuretics and other medications, radiation therapy or bladder dysfunction. It would really help if you consult with the urologist for further evaluation and management.

He put me on Cipro 500mg 2x day for 4 weeks and uroxatral 10mg 1xday. This regimen did not help so I then went on septra DS for only 9 days (3 week prescription) because I didn't notice an improvement (hindsight probably stopped this one too early). He then put me on 10 weeks at 100mg 2x day.
All she cares about is sex. The other day my boyfriends 15 year old sister stopped by and my mom gets on the computer looking at very graphic sexual pictures. She made no attempt to hide it either and now his sister is scared to come over anymore. Also a few days before, his other little sister was here watching a movie with me and my mom had a guy come over and went upstairs and was having really loud sex and she knew I had company. she didnt even bother to shut her door.
I can't use Flomax or other alpha blockers due to side effects -- disturbed sleep. Uroxatral even caused me to sleepwalk 15 feet from a nap on the sofa one evening, waking when I fell flat on my face in the next room! Separately, due to a Vitamin D deficiency my doc found, he put me on 50,000 units Vitamin D per week for 8 weeks, followed by biweekly doses. And guess what...the Vitamin D almost instantly "cured" the BPH.
ve also been to a urologist who thought my problem might potentially be prostatitus or prostadynia, or possibly interstitial cystitis for which he prescribed a regimen of Prosed DS and Uroxatral. All treatments have failed to provide any significant relief. As a last ditch effort today he prescribed acyclovir as a clinical trial, being that we've tried everything else and I've not had any relief. If this doesn't work he's going to send me to an infections disease specialist.
I just had the urodynamic test. The urologist who performed the test said I have low flow at high bladder pressure, which would indicate an obstruction. My normal uro, the one who performed the cystoscopy, did not find an obstruction (but I don't think he was looking for one, and he seems to be ignoring the redness he saw on my bladder neck...). Anyway, doc gave me a 30 day sample of uroxatral.. if that doesn't work, he'll mix it up with some other medications.
Have you heard of alternate uses for Armidex? I have endometriosis stage 4, I had 2 surgeries in 2006, and my surgeon is putting me on Armidex to try to control the pain. Is this a common use for this medicine?
I have been reading that they help with people who suffer from hypo. I was wondering if anyone uses one and what are your opinions of the treatment.

both of you have low positives and will need to confirm them with further testing to see if they are false positives or not. We recommend getting a herpes WB blood test for you both. I went to urologist and have been on doxycycline for one month and after taking a week of for another month , which helped me and made the pain go away along with the swelling , unfortunately as soon as i stopped taking it the pain and swelling came back. after 3 weeks of that my other urologist put me on levaquin 10 pills and it also helped me , pain went away and swelling, well at least to my knowledge..
I explained that the pain was still present and I was experiencing coldness in the tip of my penis. He prescribed Bactrim and Uroxatral. This helped, but faded like the previous attempts. Over the course of the past two years I have been pumped full of antibiotics. The last one was 750 mg of Levaquin. This is some serious stuff. I thought I was going to die at one point. This took care of the pain and I have regained normal urinary function.
