Avatar n tn I notice if I wake up pretty dehydrated, it will change the color of the bilirubin strip. Usually to a light orangish color. Not really same color on the chart on the bottle. But after I drink anything(water or coffee) and I am hydrated, the bilirubin pad will remain white showing no bilirubin. If this were liver issues, would drinking water cause a false negative? Or is dehydration possibly causing false positive? I have no other symptoms. No abdominal pain, no jaundice, and no pale stools.
6036387 tn?1395008183 There are strips that will give off color markers. Each color will correspond to urine, vaginal discharge, or fluid (broken water). Your dr should be able to give them to you. I'm not sure if you can buy them at a pharmacy or not.
Avatar n tn I again bought urine strips that detect blood only, and the strips shows non-hemolyzed trace only after drinking beer or coffee. If I drink a glass of water with a tsp of baking soda, the test strips come out negative. I guess my question is "is it harmful to drink a glass of baking soda water daily?", or should I return to the doctor and go thru kidney x-rays, cystoscopy, etc again? I really hate to give up my coffe ...
Avatar f tn s what my docs have checked for. It really depends on the doc and the strips they buy. The test strips may be the color change test or they may have a machine that reads the strip and checks for various things. Not all docs test for the same things.
1973666 tn?1325964688 Why not buy a pack of urine reagent test strips that you can use to test your urine for protein. A pack of 100 strips can be had for not too much money ($12.00 to around $50 depending on the brand). Find them through Google. Then if you see that you do have protein in your urine, you could use the strip as evidence to show your primary doctor that you need a referral to a nephrologist. I like the idea of using strips for testing at different times of day.
Avatar f tn t catch if you are pregnant or not I recommend going to the doctors for the test they will do a pee test but after the pee test you ask to take a blood test which is way more accurate and can tell you about how fat along you are
358971 tn?1330888975 Don't worry, I used those internet test strips too, and didn't see a line there until after I got my blood test results back. It never got completely dark either. Good luck!
1415951 tn?1282057334 Where you take you temperature every morning when you wake up before you get out of bed. The temp will rise when you are ovulating. There is the OPK a urine test strip can be taken anytime during the day to detect when you are ovulating. And then there is checking your mucous. The color change and texture will tell you as well. I personally like the OPK but it’s the most expensive because having the purchase the strips. I hope this helps. Good luck with everything.
Avatar f tn I have been scared of ngu or some other form of infection. I have used multiply uti test strips which test white blood cell count in urine. None have been positive, one or two showed trace amount of wbc (I've taken about 18 tests). Would these show an infection (ngu) if one existed???
Avatar m tn You can buy on line Urine Reagent Strips quite cheaply. There are some that test the urine just for glucose, but they do not give an accurate recording of how much sugar there is in the blood stream. These sticks are a good indicator, but they will only detect glucose in the urine if there is above a certain level (fairly high) of glucose in the urine. An HbA1c blood test shows average blood glucose levels over a sustained period (about a 3 month period).
Avatar n tn The test strips that I use are 10LG Parameter Urine Reagent Strips which can be bought on line at a reasonable price. These strips detect Leukocytes, Nitrite, Urobilinogen, Protein, pH, Blood, Specific Gravity, Ketone, Bilirubin, Glucose. You can get strips that detect less. The one that would be of interest if someone is suffering from dehydration is the Specific Gravity reading.
Avatar f tn 100,000 colony forming units per mLI had no symptoms of a UTI other than the color of my Urine turned to an Amber color. I forced fluids for a few weeks and when there was no change, went to my PCP for a Urinalysis. I had experienced left lower back pain that flanked and very painful. I thought I may be trying to pas a Kidney Stone. My regular Urinalysis was 90% Flagged so my Urine was sent to a Microbiologist. That was also nearly all Flagged.
741741 tn?1294284010 Well I got some opks of the net. The little tiny strips. After I got them I used one. There as a faint line (NEG), I didnt use another one for about 3 days as it said to start testing on cd 14. I have been testing now for I think 4 days. The thing is that that faint little line is only getting lighter!!! What does that mean? Did I already O, so early?? Im really confuse! Any help please!!!
Avatar f tn Yes, a urine quick test can tell you if you have WBC, but not if you have gonorrhea, chlamydia, NGU or another infection that could be causing that. You need specific tests for that. If you have concerns about those, you need to let the doctor know so they can do specific tests.
Avatar m tn Well its just a normal urine test. The one with the color strips. So perhaps I should wait for another week to see how it goes. Or will it heal by itself?
1816154 tn?1463430018 hmm did u take the test in the morning? what brand of test did you use?
Avatar n tn If she is not getting a lot of fluids then her urine is going to be more concentrated and have a higher specific gravity. I would try with more water to begin with. The test strip will also show if she has an infection or has blood or protein in urine. If you are not confident in your doctors answers then go back and ask for a better explanation of his findings. Sometimes, especially if we have already had health issues with our children, we get over concerned about little things.
512442 tn?1216259500 com) are very affordable, but equally reliable, FDA-approved, and typically more sensitive than drugstore tests (see our pregnancy test sensitivity chart below). Unbranded tests come in both midstream and test strip formats. Test strips are the most affordable option and are the same style of tests you will find at a doctor's office, clinic, or university. All of the tests discussed below are very accurate; indeed, they exhibit over 99% accuracy in clinical settings.
Avatar n tn I frequently use urine test strips to test my urine when I feel unwell that may be waterwork problem. Have had kidney stone surgically removed in the past. Nitrite on the stick will mean that it is a bladder problem - usually Cystitis. Positive leucocyte reading on the stick with or without signs of protein, usually means that there is a bacterial infection. If the doctor said you have a uti (urinary tract infection) this is anywhere from the kidneys down.

Avatar f tn Hi! I have used Clinical Guard ovulation strips, and they work. But I just discovered some called BFP, they make ovulation & pregnancy test strips, and they are super accurate and easy to read. They're my new "go-to" brand. I buy off of Amazon. Good luck! & lots of baby dust!
Avatar n tn Im in the UK and it seems the first step is the urine test according to my NHS walk in centre but you can ask for the blood test straight away if your really worried....but I think that depends on any symptoms. Ive heard different opinions on the urine test though, I have been told that its no good by one or two people but then afew others have said its fine for an intial check. Ive had a urine test and it was ok so Im just curious, as it was clear is that it? am I clear for diabetes? thanks.

Avatar f tn I'm 25 weeks pregnant. At around 19 weeks, after having urethral pain for 2 weeks, I went to the ER as i was certain I did have a UTI, even though my doctor dismissed my symptoms and told me the leukocytes and bacteria found were from contamination. I was in considerably more pain that same night so headed to the ER where they confirmed I had a UTI and put me on cephalexin. I took it for 4 days until I started having diarrhea.
