Avatar n tn It would help to know the make/model of your glucose meter. This way we could search the availability and low cost pricing of these unknown test strips. You can start by writing to the mfg to see if they offer free or reduced cost supplies. You also can search for and inquire at free clinics in your area. Use Google search for free clinics XXX, ZZ, where XXX is your city and ZZ the state. Another source which provides links to "free" diabetic supplies is http://tinyurl.
233382 tn?1193658141 Test strips may vary from batch to batch, some models require the user to enter in a code, but not all do. The code means the meter will be calibrated to that batch of test strips. Not having the right code will mean your result may be a little off, because of the calibration differences. So that is the difference, just how the strip is calibrated against the meter.
866901 tn?1505506236 Just two days ago I bought a ReliOn Micro glucose meter at Walmart for $12.00. A box of ReliOn Micro test strips (50) only cost $21.94. I don't know if this will help. I haven't learned how to use it yet. It's a very small meter and needs no coding. My Vet didn't mention buying a meter, but I went ahead any way. So far I have taken her in once for a glucose test and will be taking her again the end of the week.
Avatar f tn Walgreens or Walmart will both have meters in various price ranges. I would suggest taking your time and looking at the various meters offered. Look for one that will be easy for you to use and most of all convenient. True2Go is offered by walgreens. It's a very small meter that will latch onto a bottle of test strips with no need to code the meter. You can also get test strips for it from walgreens as well.
Avatar n tn No Rx required for test strips. Try wherever you purchased the glucose test meter, or online at Amazon or web sites like americandiabeteswholesale.
Avatar f tn If repeated testing is required, buying the test strips in bulk may be beneficial. Some stores may offer strips at a reduced rate. You could discuss with a pharmacist as to what would be the most suitable option. Hope this is helpful. Take care!

Avatar f tn Anyone seen / used the new freestyle test strips? I was given them just a couple of days ago. The new shape is nice but I'm suspicious of them. http://www.abbott.com/global/url/pressRelease/en_US/60.5:5/Press_Release_0876.htm I've heard it said that sugar is sugar, your body doesn't know the difference. So why should our test strips? I take my blood sugar when I feel like it's high but these things give me numbers in the 80 -90 range, never above 100.
1305767 tn?1361192676 Before stating whether you are in danger of diabetes, or you are normal it would be nice to know the make/model and age of your meter. Age of the test strips, if you are within the expiration date of the test strips, and whether the meter requires calibration prior to use. Knowing the aforementioned helps to determine if your test results qualify or not.
5609181 tn?1375332372 There are supposed to be two bottles one that is high and one that is low. It test the accuracy of the meter. When you do test, do you wipe off the alcohol so your finger is dry? If alcohol is still there it gives you a false reading. You never use the first drop of blood either. You wipe off the first and use the second.
Avatar f tn s suggestion to use your meter to ascertain your glucose status should positively determine if you require insulin. Keep your meter and plenty of test strips on hand.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have a girl who is 7 years old and from 2 years she is diabetic. We are from Romania, East-Europe and in our country we have big financial problems to buy test strips for my girl's glucometer(they are very expansive for our possibillities). She use in this moment a Free-Style Papillon. Can somebody to help us with some test strips boxes for a low price? My girl measure glycemia times every day and she has 4 shots with insulin.
Avatar f tn Be sure your meter is calibrated to the test strips. On the outside of the test strip container is a number. Set the meter to that number. Verify on occasion the meters viability with the test solution supplied. 2. Doesn't matter which finger you use, just be sure it is cleaned prior to using the lancet. A contaminated finger and/or one that is not completely dry will get you a false/positive result.
Avatar n tn t fill the strip all the way) but it was a comfort for me to know my general blood sugar range (name brand test strips are HUNDREDS of dollars but can be covered by insurance after the 3gr test and a script from your dr). I ate like normal for the first day, testing as soon as I woke up and then 1hr after each meal. I was normal (78) when I woke up, but shot to 133 after breakfast of Greek yogurt and berries (I blame coffee creamer). I stayed in the 120s all day, which is considered too high.
Avatar f tn The test strips will be an expense and your insurance company may not pay for enough. If you eat the same kinds and quantities of foods consistantly, at the same time, once you have established the routine you can cut down on the sticks. Modern meters have a memory, which means you don't have to write everything down. The technology has matured and they all are pretty good, but as Waverider said, it's nice to have a spare.
Avatar f tn For the heck of it, I tested myself three times in a row (same time, same meter) for fasting reading and got three different answers...89, 83, 93. Then decided to test with a second meter (got it free with purchase of strips) and got three different readings again, on that meter. So, I took all 6 readings at the same time and got 6 different readings. My readings from the two meters were: 89/98, 83/73, 93/78 I realize these are all good readings.
1414706 tn?1322598630 t been checking because my endo did not instruct me to and I hate pricking my fingers. Now all of my test strips are expired by a couple of months. I can use those strips, but will they be accurate?
