Avatar m tn I'm 22 y.o. I've been urinating frequently in the past 2-3 years as far as I can remember (possibly longer than that). But I also noticed that I only tend do to that when I drink excessively compared to other people, so there are days where I urinate normally (which are usually the day where I drink less water).
Avatar m tn On having a PSA test done he had a reading of 58. Is his chances of having Prostate Cancer greater with a reading as high as this or will the prostate shrink?.
Avatar n tn - Prostate cancer. Prostate cancer cells in remaining prostate tissue or in other parts of your body can release PSA. Checking for signs of prostate cancer is the main reason men have PSA tests. - Recurrent benign prostate growth. Some prostate tissue remains even if your entire prostate is removed. This tissue may continue to grow, leading to increased PSA levels. - Inflammation of prostate tissue (prostatitis).

Avatar n tn Hi, I recently went to the ED with slight scrotal pain (not testicular, felt just like discomfort near the perenium) a sensitive tip of the penis. They did a prostate palpation and CBC, Urine. All labs came back normal , no infection or anyting abnormal. Now I am having pain in what I suspect is my iliac crest and odd pains throught the body . Most are very slight and quite intermitent.
Avatar m tn With a clear urine test, along with other symptoms, what are the chances of prostate cancer? PSA last fall was normal. Can prostate cancer cause all these other arm/ shoulder pain and muscle twitches, and other symptoms? Any other thoughts? Question: Can a nerve condition cause these urinary issues? Prostate Cancer - same question. thanks.
Avatar n tn Thanks Dr Rowena, I continued Microbid for another 10 days, had my PSA and urine test done on 14 August .Test reults for urine are OK and PSA level came down to 1.93 .As per my doctor's conclusion ,this is good and I do not have to worry any thing .He recommended to see him if any pain,UTI,blood in urine in future. Please advise if I should still go for rectal ultrasound.how much safe PSA recommended in my case.
Avatar m tn He then took a urine sample and told me that it was a special test to determine if I had a genetic predisposition to prostate cancer. Last month he told me that the result of the genetic test came back negative and the PSA was a 4.1. He also measured the volume of urine output and that seemed much better. He told me that it was his opinion that I have him perform a biopsy on my prostate (through the rectum with the sonogram unit for the samples) at the end of this month.

Avatar m tn The urine was negative but the antibiotics fixed it. It cleared up but I started having prostate problems about 3 days off the antibiotics. I feel like I have to pee and slight discomfort. My father had prostate cancer at 62. He is ok now, but that scares me a little. He was taking Androgel for 6 to 7 years before they found it. Questions: 1: When I started having the problem again was after masturbation. I drank a little too much on Saturday and Sunday morning I felt dehydrated.
Avatar m tn Do you know if Lupron injection for prostate cancer can cause a false negative on a urine drug test my doctor gave me to make sure I am taking my Percocet. I am a 85 year old man who does take his medicine like I should and now I am having to defend myself because their test came out wrong. Can anyone help?

Avatar m tn no infection but some crystalization -did an ultrasound of prostate. urologist saw white spots on screen and said this is infection. i am not sure if this diagnosis is correct because he prescribed doxycyline, i used for 3 weeks but it did not work. -from my blood test, psa was 1.7 (normal lab value was to be less than 1.4). my psa 3 years ago was 1.3 at a different lab and the normal range for that lab was 0-4.
Avatar n tn I met guys whose psa had increased form the 1 area to 2 and they had prostate cancer... the increase is the key. Also if you ever have prostate cancer and I sure hope you don't, I would really recommend Proton Radiation if it is available to you./... It has a 90% cure rate and little to no side effects from the treatments... Its like I am cured and was never sick... I hope this helps you.
Avatar m tn I had prostatitis about 4 years ago. After taking Cipro and Levaquin for about two months, it finally went away. I was fine until just recently when similar symptoms came back. They are much more milder than before, but still bothersome. Primary physician did urinalysis and DRE, and said everything seemed OK, but I could see a urologist if it was still bothering me. Went to urologist, and he said stream good, but trace blood in urine.
Avatar m tn Since I am a black male and since my father was diagnosed with prostate cancer last year at 65, the doctor asked me to take a PSA test as well as a free PSA test on Aug 30 (PSA 8.880 ng/ml and free PSA 1.37 ng/ml). He also put me on antibiotics and anti-inflammatories. The urination issue was resolved thereafter and there was nothing odd detected during the the DRE. Follow up tests (free psa and psa) were taken on Oct. 25. (PSA 7.460ng/mL and FPSA of .55 ng/mL).
Avatar m tn Hence you just need to get your PSA levels checked every year or two years and if you show any symptoms of prostate cancer like nocturia ( increased frequency of passing urine at night), difficulty passing urine, including straining to pass it or stopping and starting, sense of incomplete bladder emptying and pain when passing urine or at tip of penis or blood in urine or semen then get it evaluated from a urologist.
Avatar n tn 2 weeks ago my husband had prostate cancer screening done. It was one of those community screenings. Done at our local clinic by a uroligist. Now the last two times my husbands semen has been brown colored. The test results for PSA are 1.5 ml, and the digital rectal exam was normal. Could this dr have hurt him in some way? Prostate cancer runs in his family.
129311 tn?1266346822 My PSA went from 2 to 4.5 and I had prostate cancer. The increase is the key more so than the size of the number they told me. I met guys whos PSA had increased from 1 to 2.5 and they had early prostate cancer. I had my treated with Proton Radiation at Loma Linda University Medical center. It is the very best treatement...90% cure rate and little to no side effects. Go to a website called Proton Bob and read the patient testimonial section.
Avatar n tn I take comfort in the fact that is lower then my previous test and would think that if prostate cancer was involved then my psa would be increasing and not decreasing. As for the muscle relaxants go, i have taken up my gps offer on these. Since taking them, i feel great. I am in no pain whatsoever and i have only taken them twice thus far. I would think that if there was a prostate problem, then i would still be in some form of discomfort regardless of the muscle relaxants.
Avatar f tn Also hopefully have a PSA test done - if there’s enlargement AND a high PSA level, you may be at risk for prostate cancer, even if the DRE didn’t find anything suspicious. That’s what happened to me - I had a high PSA (8.4) at age 67 but DRE didn’t note anything other than enlargement. Dr wanted me to see a Urologist, I thought it was due to smthg else (which it can be), so I put it off for a yr, then later found out I had prostate cancer & had to have surgery.
Avatar n tn Your posting is a little unclear. I don't know what "little higher" refers to. I also don't know what you mean by a "kidney stone test". Are you referring to ultrasound or some other diagnostic imaging, or some form of biochemistry test? I don't know of a single biochemistry test that can determine if there are kidney stones or not. Having said that, here are my thoughts.
