tussionex

286124 tn?1214938528 anyway, i have a question about tussinex. they prescribed this to me for a bad head cold and sore throat. anyway, being the drug addict that i am (i wish i didn't even start this mess!!), i took WAAAY more than recommended. my question is this, does tussinex "back you up" more so than lorect or loratabs would? thanks in advance for your advice.
Avatar f tn I am hopefully going to start treatment AGAIN for tussionex withdrawal and treatment. Pray for me. Any suggestions or any other people out there like me? I am so alone.
636562 tn?1223667445 I recently had a bad reaction to Tussionex Suspension and had to go to the ER. I agree with the doctor that I had a reaction to the Tussionex, but I'm wondering why it affected me so long after I initially took it (I didn't have any symptoms for the first 7-8 hours). I apologize if this is in the wrong forum, but I thought a pharmacist would be the best one to answer my question. How do extended release medications work?
Avatar f tn 00 am and had no breath - and could not speak or call my husband although I was trying to say 'help'. I got my breath back after a minute or so and was pretty shaken up by this. I'm very tired but reluctant to go back to sleep if it happens again. I was pretty shaken up. Is this an allergic reaction or a side effect?
Avatar m tn Each teaspoonful (5 mL) of TUSSIONEX (hydrocodone and chlorpheniramine) Pennkinetic Extended-Release Suspension contains hydrocodone polistirex equivalent to 10 mg of hydrocodone bitartrate and chlorpheniramine polistirex equivalent to 8 mg of chlorpheniramine maleate. TUSSIONEX (hydrocodone and chlorpheniramine) Pennkinetic Extended- Release Suspension provides up to 12-hour relief per dose. Hydrocodone is a centrally-acting narcotic antitussive. Chlorpheniramine is an antihistamine.
Avatar n tn I have a bottle of Tussionex since the last time i was pretty sick. It was filled may 15 2008 and Im not sure what the expiration date is on it. would it be fine to take?
Avatar n tn Had all the allergy shots available on the planet (allergies to dust/dust mites) and today, I read about Tussionex. I control my blood pressure very well with Adalat once a day. I'll be seeing my GP on April 8. I pray that Tussionex (taken only 8 hours or 12 hours prior to my show/s as opposed to taking the narcotic regularly - that's scary) would be permissible for me even when taking Adalat.
Avatar f tn My divorce, my ex boyfriend and my recent ex boyfriend. Then, I used last night. I took a tablespoon of the tussionex and I felt numb. I felt happy. I felt like I didn't want to kill myself. So I took two teaspoons today. The pain is still nagging at the back of my head. I know it is there, but it is numbing me out to the point to where I can actually concentrate on somethign other than the pain.
1003776 tn?1360197582 s illness was much worse than ever before. So the tussionex was prescribed again and again and again, hoping that after many tests, the problem would be solved and she could come off the tussionex. But lo and behold no problem could be found for that fair maiden and she remained on the tussionex for many, many months. She started taking this med according to the instructions, 1 pill every 12 hours, not to exceed 2 in 24 hours or the consequences could be grave indeed.
Avatar f tn My addiction started around 1 1/2 to 2 years ago when I had a chronic cough and was given Tussionex - wow how I loved that stuff. It totally stopped my coughing and made you feel great. I took that stuff for heck months...until I was diagnosed with arthritis in my lower back - well as luck would have it I was prescribed Vicodin with has the same crap in it as the cough medicine Tussionex had. Well long story short I have finally come to my senses and gave it all up. I can do it...
Avatar n tn For OTC cough syrup, I use Delsym (Dextromethorphan polistirex) or Mucinex (Guaifenesin). I've never had a problem with either, and I'd consider myself fairly sensitive to cold medications. When I need the big guns, I get my PCP to prescribe Tussionex (chlorpheniramine and hydrocodone) aka. "Liquid Gold". I love this stuff. It's expensive, hence the name. But you WILL stop coughing, and you WILL sleep!
Avatar n tn and i am very aware that it has become a addiction considering it started with lke 4 teaspoons a day of tussionex and ive been taking klodipin fo over 6 years will this effect my withhdrawl from the hycodan and tussionex and the hydrocodone pills is promethazine affective i have bunch of 25 mg pill he never game me the liquid prometh with codiene is that what i should ask for what is a good way to go about this
Avatar m tn Well, tussionex is part hydrocodone which is a semi-synthetic opioid and part chlorpheniramine which is a type of antihistamine. So some people can be more sensitive to the hydrocodone (vicadin) part of the cough syrup. It is a fairly addictive drug and some people have genetics (an enzyme called cpy 2d6) that increases the duration the hydrocodone is elevated in their blood. This leads to exaggerated effects or feeling of euphora and other symptoms.
Avatar f tn im 36 weeks pegnant and its been a painful pregnancy. ive been presribed vicodin and tussionex alot lately? it was a miracle i got pregnant, because of my past with cervical cancer surgerys i have an incompitent cervix.in less than 5 days they are taking my cervical cerclage out and i may go into labor. will the hydrocodone be in the babys system and can they take my baby if it was prescribed?
Avatar n tn If you prove not to have asthma, aren’t smoking and didn’t have whooping cough, you should contact your doctor and request a prescription for a strong cough suppressant You could try an over-the-counter cough suppressant with “DM” and if that doesn’t provide relief of the cough, then call or visit your doctor to make sure that nothing more serious is causing your cough (you may need a chest X-ray to do that) and get a stronger cough preparation such as Tussionex.
Avatar f tn He put me on a z-pack antibiotic. So this past week I went back because I am still coughing A LOT and I still feel like I have an infection. He listened to my lungs, gave me a breathing treatment and sent me for a chest x-ray. That was on Monday, since then (today being Friday) my coughing has increased and I am having bad pain in my ribs/lungs. At first it felt like I had been hit by a baseball bat, and today it is sharp stabbing pains when I breath, move or cough.
Avatar f tn t get my rx back I went to another dr the next day (who had also previously prescribed me tussionex) he wrote me an rx and I went to another pharmacy to TRY and get it filled but I was told the exact same thing about my insurance. So I waited a couple of days and decided I would pay for it with cash since limy insurance wouldn't cover it.
Avatar n tn Hi Auntmartha, Welcome to the Pain Management Forum of MedHelp. I apologize but I am not sure exactly what you are asking. Tiger did a good job of explaining the different opiates and their schedule. But I think I read it is why should you not use a strong scheduled narcotic. Again I apologize but if you would like to expand on your question I would be more than happy to attempt to answer it.
Avatar f tn He just had one about an hour ago , he passed out and started convulsing. His entire body was moving up and down and his legs were kicking. I screamed his name quite a few times before he came out of it. His legs were kicking so hard, he moved our coffee table while kicking and actually cut his foot.He has been in the hospital for this and they said it was just the fact that he coughed so hard that it caused him to pass out. But, I feel there is more to this...
1071153 tn?1255369215 I have been taking Ultracet weekly and sometimes daily for four years getting Tussionex and other opiates we I could. I have come off the Ultracet a few times now and did not like the WD's....shaky legs, headaches, etc. A few months ago, I was diagnosed pleurasy was given Loratab 10 for pain. Upon running out, I convinced my Doctor that Ultracet caused the pleurasy and have been given Loratab for low back pain ever since. That has been 2-3 months now. I am now taking 30-60mg a day.
Avatar n tn I'm a fairly healthy 21 yr old(except for cervical displaysia that Ive had for 2yrs, not caused by HPV) but lately I've been so paranoid about having HIV that I go into random crying spells where I am begging and pleading to any "being, god or creature" that will here me, swearing to change my life if I come back negative next week(I was tested today). The thing is I'm not a careless person but the past few months I have "bed hopped" from a few men.
20922415 tn?1661860103 If pregnancy occurs, progesterone is produced in the placenta, and levels remain elevated throughout the pregnancy. The combination of high estrogen and progesterone levels suppresses further ovulation during pregnancy. Progesterone also encourages the growth of milk-producing glands in the breast during pregnancy. High progesterone levels are believed to be partly responsible for symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS), such as breast tenderness, feeling bloated, and mood swings.
Avatar n tn Brought her back to the doctors and they did a test for whooping cough(have to wait 2 weeks for the results) and a chest x-ray, which was fine and put her on steriods. A week later she was still not better. She was seen by a pulmonary specialist this morning. They do not know whats wrong with her. In the office they had her take singulair,a 10 mg tab, use a advair diskus and nasonex. That was at 9:00am this morning.
Avatar m tn My PCP presribes antibotics, my allergist prescibes, zyrtec and nasonex, my gastroenterlogists prescribes dexilant. Last week my ENT scoped my throat and nose and stated he could not find any problem, but suggested it could be non-acidic reflux. Last year I had the stomach endoscope and the gastroenterlogist said he did not find anything to cause these symptoms. Allergy test was postive for dust mites only.
