Common Questions and Answers about Truvada combination

truvada

Avatar m tn After 192 weeks of treatment, 55% of patients treated with just tenofovir and 76% of patients treated with the combination Truvada pill had nearly undetectable HBV DNA levels (less than 69 IU/mL). None of the patients developed drug resistance. HBeAg seroconversion (loss of HBeAg and development of “e” antibodies) occurred in three patients in the tenofovir group. None of the patients in either group lost HBsAg.
Avatar f tn You are correct that Truvada is a combination of tenofovir and emtricitabine, and is generally prescribed for patients with HIV. Being a HBV forum, most of us know very little about Truvada except that it is prescribed off-label for HBV by some doctors, and that it is recommended for HBV patients who develop resistance to Tenofovir.
Avatar m tn Im taking a combination of norvia, truvada and prezista and im about to got crazy.
1012649 tn?1256229718 Hi. My doctor recently changed my meds from Atripla to the same combination but in two tablets which is Sustiva and Truvada which has emtricitibine in it too. I checked, and these are the same ingredients in Atripla. He changed it because I had a "blip" in my viral load. Viral load was at one point after taking Atripla "undedectable" for about 10 months, then went up to 45 then 3 months later tp 65.
Avatar f tn PEP should be a combination of three different HIV medications. Truvada is a combination of two and as such truvada alone is insufficient. I would test using an HIV DUO test along with an RNA PCR at 2 weeks after completing the truvada. If these tests are negative then it is likely that you are HIV negative but you should test again at a further four weeks and finally at 3 months after completing PEP.
Avatar f tn You have 72 hours.
Avatar m tn When I got home and looked up PEP, it says its usually Truavda in combination with a mix of other drugs. So the next day i went to a local clinic and they echoed that Truvada was enough. However, i pressed them to also give me isentress as well and they complied. Is truvada alone ok? If my paretner was indeed positive and not on treatment, what are my chances of being negative? I took the Truvada 16 hours post exposure and the isentress at 34 post exposure.
Avatar n tn I recently started the Norvir, Reyataz, Truvada combo. This is my first time taking "the meds" after being hiv + for 20 years. I have been on them for only 11 days. I have weird side effects: headaches, queasy stomach, and fatigue/weakness. I told my doctor, and he said, to "tough it out for another week, and he'll see if he needs to change the combination, or switch meds.
Avatar f tn The most common treatment in the US, Canada and the UK is Truvada. This is what is known as a "fixed-dose combination tablet" combining emtricitabine and tenofovir from the NRTI class, and raltegravir, from the integrase inhibitor class. There ARE alternative drugs available and possibly in Thailand they use lamivudine in place of raltegravir. I am definitely NOT a chemist, so I can't tell you for sure if the combination you're taking is appropriate.
Avatar m tn The doctors who provided you with your initial PEP provided you with more medication than is typically recommended for PEP and the Truvada (which is a combination of two anti-HIV medications) is one of the regimens most widely recommended for PEP. Please note that the ER doctors probably don't do this all the time and from a prevention perspective it is better to initially over treat than under treat. That said, from here on out, I would just take the Truvada.
Avatar m tn Truvada should not be taken in combination with certain other HIV drugs. These include the meds that make up Truvada — Emtriva and Viread — and other meds that contain them, such as Atripla, Complera, and Stribild. You also shouldn’t take Truvada with drugs containing lamivudine, an HIV drug marketed under the brand name Epivir. If you’re HIV-negative, you’re most likely not taking these, but you should have the information.
Avatar m tn Hello - I understand that oral with a person who is HIV+ is low risk, but would it be a good idea to take PEP anyway? My concern is the side effects of the Isentress and Truvada combination. I have the medication, but if infection is very highly unlikely, I think I shouldn't. Friends are telling me not to worry and doctor says it is up to me (which I know). Opinions?
Avatar m tn I am taking Truvada also and Raltagravir. I asked my doctor whether I should change to Atripla but he said Raltagravir has the least side effects. However after 8 years i had two bouts of slight night sweats and am wondering what this means. What is ur CD like? Perhaps checking that may help clarify you anxieties or changing your boosters to Raltagrair might make a difference.
Avatar m tn I am concerned about the added side effects. Are there any problem if I continue to take Viread? My doctor suugested me take Truvada.
Avatar m tn Handsfield, I have started with antiretroviral therapy in April this year after my cd4+ further declined to 480 and viral load remained very high at 800,000 even after 6 months after exposure. I am currently on combination of Truvada, Prezista and Norvir which I take regularly every 24 hours. I feel much better than before meds, from time to time I have soar throat, nothing serious though. I didnt notice any significant side effects except temporary diarrhoea.
Avatar m tn and im sure theres lots of people taking truvada who would want to know. and i wasnt asking if truvada helps with corona virus. i was asking if it inhibits your ability to fight it off.
Avatar f tn So, it has now been exactly one week since the possible exposure. I'm taking Trivicay and Truvada every day. Unusual experiences - which I don't want to call symptoms - so far have been as follows: - Recurring rashes - Mild nausea (only today) - Bloodshot eyes with swelling under them (happened for the first time 32 hours after possible exposure, BEFORE I started taking medication - and this is really really freaking me out!).
Avatar f tn I d keep truvada until hbvdna undetectable and then switch to viread
Avatar m tn Yesterday, I took 1 Truvada at 7am but since I was in a hurry after dinner, I accidentally took one more Truvada last night. I tried to vomit it up but I was able to vomit only a part (dissolved part) of it. Because of panic, I forgot to take Kaletra last night. I rushed to the A&E and asked the doctor's advice on what to do. Since I waited for more than 3 hours before I was able to see the doctor, I was already drowsy when the doctor talked to me.
Avatar f tn Since the chances a quite low Can I stop taking pep or can I stop kaletra and remain with truvada take it upto 28days.coz kaletra gives me diarrhea.
Avatar m tn How can I change from taking Truvada in the noon to taking Truvada at midnight? For instance, should I do two doses of Truvada in one 24 hour period or should I do no doses in one 24 hour period to get it right? 3. When the doctors prescribed the medication I ended up taking 4x the recommended dose of Aluvia. This was due to me having received four cans of Aluvia, not realizing that each can was meant to last 1 week.
Avatar m tn my window period for pap closing tomorrow and i am only taking truvada, and i m reading that usually truvada taken with other hiv prophylaxis meds, so this is what i wanted to know if truvada only is enough for prophylaxis. i m calling a doctor but he is not picking up...
Avatar m tn I am a gay male and have taken Truvada as PrEP daily since last November. This past week, I ran out of my Truvada after taking it on Tuesday morning. Prior to that, I had taken it daily for more than a month. I did not take Truvada on Wednesday or Thursday. I changed insurances and wanted to wait to pick up my refill until I got my copay and assistance straightened out. On Friday I had anal sex as the bottom with a man I know who says he is negative.
Avatar m tn Hi T1 Just google Truvada, you will find all the info you need.
