Truvada and sustiva combination

Common Questions and Answers about Truvada and sustiva combination

truvada

Avatar m tn Hi, I have been HIV+ for a year and a half,. I started with Truvada and Sustiva, did so well, got undetectable, and moved to Atripula. Couldn't handle that due to the very vivid dreams I was having. I then started Truvada and Isentress and within the past 9 months(going every three for blood work) I went from undetectable status to a viral load of 50, then it progressed to 116, then to 700, got a genotype done and another viral load test and it has jumped to 861.
Avatar f tn I've had HIV for several years, luckily it was caught early. I started meds fairly soon after. I started Atripla in 2010. It got be undetectable quickly and has kept that way. I never had major bad side effects on it. I did have some crazy dreams and still do. After I was on it for a couple years, things began to slowly deteriorate. I began getting panic attacks, and bouts of tachycardia and palpitations. I had a history of those but it seemed to get worse.
Avatar m tn I had unprotected sex in 28/12/2015 and in 6/2/2016 i discovered I'm hiv positive. My dr ran stds tests and one of them was for hepatitis B. He made hepatitis B sAg qualitative test which came back negative. Then in 16/2/2016 i took truvada plus sustiva as treatment for hiv. Now when I searched for hepatitis B testing i found that it involves many tests. This month i made acomplete hepatitis B panel test which came back as follows: Hepatitis B sAg 0.
Avatar f tn You are correct that Truvada is a combination of tenofovir and emtricitabine, and is generally prescribed for patients with HIV. Being a HBV forum, most of us know very little about Truvada except that it is prescribed off-label for HBV by some doctors, and that it is recommended for HBV patients who develop resistance to Tenofovir.
Avatar m tn After 192 weeks of treatment, 55% of patients treated with just tenofovir and 76% of patients treated with the combination Truvada pill had nearly undetectable HBV DNA levels (less than 69 IU/mL). None of the patients developed drug resistance. HBeAg seroconversion (loss of HBeAg and development of “e” antibodies) occurred in three patients in the tenofovir group. None of the patients in either group lost HBsAg.
6820012 tn?1385089216 Truvada is the main medicine that has been studied and recommended for PrEP. It is a combination of two drugs, tenofovir and emtricitabine. Maybe some things you read used these names, so you didn't see the Truvada brand name. I don't know if taking PPI drugs interferes with effectiveness against PrEP. Probably not, but you should check with the doctor or clinic who prescribed it for you. CDC has great information about PrEP; here is a link to some of it: http://www.cdc.
Avatar m tn Im taking a combination of norvia, truvada and prezista and im about to got crazy.
Avatar m tn In June 2005 I tested positive with a VL of 330,000 and antibody test at this time it was non react which for what I have read is negative for the antibodies, I decided back then to start treatment right away (Truvada & Sustiva) due to the high VL, I got a geno and phenotype test done before starting treatment, Dr.
Avatar f tn PEP should be a combination of three different HIV medications. Truvada is a combination of two and as such truvada alone is insufficient. I would test using an HIV DUO test along with an RNA PCR at 2 weeks after completing the truvada. If these tests are negative then it is likely that you are HIV negative but you should test again at a further four weeks and finally at 3 months after completing PEP.
Avatar f tn You have 72 hours.
Avatar m tn I took the Truvada 16 hours post exposure and the isentress at 34 post exposure. I take the truvada at 530pm every day and the isentress at 830 am and pm. Is it ok that im not taking them at the same time?
Avatar m tn I went to health care center today, and explained the situation to doctor I did a rapid test there as control, and which is negative. and then doctor prescribed me Truvada as PEP for a month, and asked me to do a RNA after finish the Truvada. I keep searching "Effectiveness of Truvada alone as PEP" in internet, I am not sure if this is a normal practice for issuing Truvada alone.
Avatar n tn I recently started the Norvir, Reyataz, Truvada combo. This is my first time taking "the meds" after being hiv + for 20 years. I have been on them for only 11 days. I have weird side effects: headaches, queasy stomach, and fatigue/weakness. I told my doctor, and he said, to "tough it out for another week, and he'll see if he needs to change the combination, or switch meds.
Avatar f tn The most common treatment in the US, Canada and the UK is Truvada. This is what is known as a "fixed-dose combination tablet" combining emtricitabine and tenofovir from the NRTI class, and raltegravir, from the integrase inhibitor class. There ARE alternative drugs available and possibly in Thailand they use lamivudine in place of raltegravir. I am definitely NOT a chemist, so I can't tell you for sure if the combination you're taking is appropriate.
Avatar m tn The doctors who provided you with your initial PEP provided you with more medication than is typically recommended for PEP and the Truvada (which is a combination of two anti-HIV medications) is one of the regimens most widely recommended for PEP. Please note that the ER doctors probably don't do this all the time and from a prevention perspective it is better to initially over treat than under treat. That said, from here on out, I would just take the Truvada.
Avatar m tn These include the meds that make up Truvada — Emtriva and Viread — and other meds that contain them, such as Atripla, Complera, and Stribild. You also shouldn’t take Truvada with drugs containing lamivudine, an HIV drug marketed under the brand name Epivir. If you’re HIV-negative, you’re most likely not taking these, but you should have the information.
Avatar m tn Hello - I understand that oral with a person who is HIV+ is low risk, but would it be a good idea to take PEP anyway? My concern is the side effects of the Isentress and Truvada combination. I have the medication, but if infection is very highly unlikely, I think I shouldn't. Friends are telling me not to worry and doctor says it is up to me (which I know). Opinions?
Avatar m tn I have been experiencing severe itching and redness in my face after the daily dose of Truvada, which I tried to take Zyrtec for, which helped a little, albeit not much. Since I was able to visit the hospital in Bangkok just in time for the 72 hour limit, and the time at the hospital was around noon back in UK, I started taking Truvada+Aluvia at once, meaning that I am now taking Truvada + Aluvia around noon and Aluvia around midnight.
Avatar m tn I am taking Truvada also and Raltagravir. I asked my doctor whether I should change to Atripla but he said Raltagravir has the least side effects. However after 8 years i had two bouts of slight night sweats and am wondering what this means. What is ur CD like? Perhaps checking that may help clarify you anxieties or changing your boosters to Raltagrair might make a difference.
Avatar m tn Hi Dr,I had unprotected sex with a gay three days ago.But atually,he did not totally penetrate me,just penetrated half of his balanus with less than 30 seconds, and then I pull him out,no cum no blooding. Before his penis penetrate me,he sucked my anus and penetrate me with his finger for minutes. I am worried about his precum and maybe the penetration cause tiny wound in my anus. It's the first time I tried to be bottom. And yesterday I terribly find haemorrhoids around my anus.
Avatar m tn Handsfield, I have started with antiretroviral therapy in April this year after my cd4+ further declined to 480 and viral load remained very high at 800,000 even after 6 months after exposure. I am currently on combination of Truvada, Prezista and Norvir which I take regularly every 24 hours. I feel much better than before meds, from time to time I have soar throat, nothing serious though. I didnt notice any significant side effects except temporary diarrhoea.
Avatar m tn I haven't yet found reason for my symptoms. I have negative HIV antibody test result at 16 weeks mark and still have palpable lymph nodes in my neck, under jaw and in my groins. I had a rash on my forehead after exposure and my girlfriend has the same rash now. She also has persistent headaches and stomach aches. I am so scared especially when I see cases like this from the Body: False positive or false negative?
Avatar f tn Will truvada and and a respiratory antibiotics have interqction/ side effects if simultaneously on both medicine? or which antibiotics and safe with truvada for respiratory infection?
Avatar m tn Hi Thanks for all the help provided by the blog. I started PEP after a relatively risky exposure. However, I started Turvada 42 hours after exposure. I've read that Truvada has a limited effectiveness after 24 hours. Is this accurate? I also missed a dose on day 10 and from day 16 got general lymphadenopathy, headaches and other ARS-like symptoms. Can anyone help?
