Got exposed 28 June, anal insertive sex with philipino sex worker (high risk), condom broke. Started PEP (Truvada, Stocrin) 24H after exposure. Completed 30 days course, with adherence to treatment. 2 days after I stopped PEP I started to feel sore throat, nausea, sweating, itching. 2 weeks after (16 days) since condition was not improving and had as well swollen limph gland (armpit) went to doctor.Was also feeling quite tired. Tested the 16 August RNA, antigen P24 and antibody.

I use Zilarvir and Stocrin (MSD) before bedtime and Stocrin (MSD) in the morning. Zilarvir has been supplied by "GPO" (The Government Pharmaceutical Organization) in Thailand. Zilarvir is light-brown colored, a bit bigger than Stocrin with the inprint "225". Stockrin is white, a bit smaller than Zilarvir and without any inprint. Now, all of a sudden, Zilarvir has been supplied exactly as the Stocrin-medicin which caused one month a lot of confusion.

3. Have you heard about the Tenvir-EM (Truvada) and Stocrin (Efivarenz) combo before? Is this less effective than other PEP combos? 4. With PEP being started 14 hours post exposure, what is the percentage of success against seroconversion? Thank you.

I do not think you are going to becoem HIV positive because of this - but try and get a 4th generation combined HIV 1 and 2 antibody and p24 antigen test done at 28 days to reassure yoruself.

Thankd dr hook, I started PEP at 70 hrs mostly because of my anxiety (TRUvada and STOCRIN). I am curious though whether taking PEP affects the test results at 4 weeks. I am about to married in 2 months and can't risk anything.

You are correct that Truvada is a combination of tenofovir and emtricitabine, and is generally prescribed for patients with HIV. Being a HBV forum, most of us know very little about Truvada except that it is prescribed off-label for HBV by some doctors, and that it is recommended for HBV patients who develop resistance to Tenofovir.

Hi Thanks for all the help provided by the blog. I started PEP after a relatively risky exposure. However, I started Turvada 42 hours after exposure. I've read that Truvada has a limited effectiveness after 24 hours. Is this accurate? I also missed a dose on day 10 and from day 16 got general lymphadenopathy, headaches and other ARS-like symptoms. Can anyone help?

1 Truvada and 2 Kaletra at 7am while 2 Kaletra at 7pm. Yesterday, I took 1 Truvada at 7am but since I was in a hurry after dinner, I accidentally took one more Truvada last night. Truvada is 100% effective as PrEP, or nearly so, as long as it is taken properly and there are good amounts of drug in the system at the time of exposure. Truvada is the main medicine that has been studied and recommended for PrEP. It is a combination of two drugs, tenofovir and emtricitabine. Maybe some things you read used these names, so you didn't see the Truvada brand name. I don't know if taking PPI drugs interferes with effectiveness against PrEP.
