1 month later he was not saticfied with the drop in cholestoral so he put me on a fairley new drug called Trilipix. I take 10mg of lisinopril for high blood pressure, 10 mg of crestor, and 145mg of trilipix. After being put on the trilipix I started felling tired and having stomache problems (constipated and cramping). I went back to have my a1c check last week and it was 8.0.
I can read about Niacin........how much can I safely take of that without having to get liver test done by my doctor so often. Any suggestion are greatly appreciated. I bought your book, and i have enjoyed it. Thankyou!
I have been on Lisinopril (bp) for 5 years and Trilipix and Simvastatin (cholesterol) for the last 3-4 years.
t take the meds they prescribe for that because of your drinking. Cholesterol meds require liver screening to make sure your liver can handle the metabolization of the drugs and I guess as a heavy drinker, you might not be a canidate. Something to discuss with your doctor. But hon, if you are saying "do triglicerides kill me? Cause they gave me meds to take but I didn't want to because I'd rather drink . . ." well, that is a bit of a problem.
Here are the meds I am own - Questran - 1 packet for irritable bowl, Prozac for OCD, Allergy Injections, Methyldopa for blood pressure, and Trilipix for Triglycerides (nearly 1000), and Vitamin D. I am only 30!! I am overwieght but work hard to get rid of it with little or no results. They even checked me for Cushings. My TSH is low at 0.3 and I have a Goiter but no known thyroid problem. I have acne. Anyone know what could be causing my heartburn to be so severe?
I agree. The benefits outweigh the few, (if any at all) side effects from taking the benzo's every day for over six years. I'm 26 now without insurance, and they are the cheapest of the meds I am on. Trilipix is 184USD, Crestor is 189USD, and even generic gabapentin is 154USD. Lexapro is about 140UDS. Generic Klonopin is about 10USD. Remeron is about the same. And Inderal is 4USD. This is all per month, and I need every one of them.
twice a day, Amlodipine Bensylate 5mg. once a day, Trilipix 135mg. once a day and Ibuprofen 600mg. when needed. Pravastatin Sodium 40mg. once a day and Alprazolam 1mg. twice a day. I have been to my doctor and have told him about it and he just says, its anxiety. Does anyone know what might be causing this ?? I am tired of hearing that it is anxiety ! Please help !!!!!!!!!!!
Lets forget about pain meds for the moment. Does the Neuro not have you on any preventative meds? Topamax, Trilipix, Trileptal, Inderal, etc? If not, you need to discuss that with the doctor. He needs to be on preventative meds. Treating migraines is a marathon and not a sprint. It takes time to find out what medication or combo of medications will work.
Now, as far as pain pills....or...abortive meds. There are meds out there that specifically attack migraines.
I am so sorry this is happening to your family. I think it is a personal decision. I will need a transplant (kidney) in time and I think my family would step up if I ever needed one. I know I would be so grateful beyond words. I think you need to talk to the dr's of what this means for you and if it is a possibility. Know the whole story first before you jeopardize your own health. No one would want that. I wish you the best in this decision. My prayers are with all of you.
There have been a few cases of liver failure possibly related to the use of mesalamine (the active ingredient in Asacol HD), but I haven't read anything about fatty liver as a side effect.
A fatty liver, it takes between 6 months and 2 years to fully reverse. Dr Sandra Cabot's article "Fatty Liver - What Is Fatty Liver And How To Reverse It?
GGT is usually used to determine the cause of an elevated alkaline phosphatase (ALP). It is used in combination with other liver related blood tests. GGT is increased in most diseases that cause acute damage to the liver or bile ducts but is usually not helpful in distinguishing between different causes of liver damage.

Please keep in mind that the vast majority of people who contribute here are not physicians. Most are patients some of whom have gained some knowledge as a result of their disease(s).
I will make a couple of observations.
Generally with advanced cirrhosis the liver is not "very enlarged". Cirrhosis basically means that the liver is scarred and when there is a lot of scarring the liver shrinks and becomes hard.
m more familiar with, but they seem to leave a big question as to what is causing your liver disease. What does your doctor think is the cause of your liver disease? What kind of doctor are you seeing? If you actually have cirrhosis you should be seen by a hepatologist, but I'm not convinced of your diagnosis since it is based on an ultrasound. You might want to move this question from the hepatitis c forum over to the cirrhosis forum. We have good people on both!
non smoker male had a routine physical w/ lab work. All lab good except liver enzymes elevated. Lab repeated 1 month later enzymes same as month before, hepaptitis and other liver disease ruled out.. Ultrasound done, and that was fine. Was told over phone to follow up with a GI Dr. Why would I need to do that?
M HAVING BAD PAINS ON MY RIGHT SIDE BY MY RIB CAGE AND I HAVE BEEN TO THE HOSPITAL TWICE LAST YEAR AROUND SEPTMBER AND THEY DID A CT SCAN AND X-RAY AND DID BLOOD TEST THE TEST CAME BACK NEGATIVE AND ON THE CT SCAN IT SHOWED THAT MY LIVER WAS INFLAMMED. BUT NEGATIVE FOR HCV. SO THEY GAVE ME BENYTAL AND SAID I NEED TO SEE A SPEALIST. I DIDN'T GO SEE ONE. NOW IT HAS STARTED TO HURT AGAIN SO WHAT DO YOU THINK.
I'm a 30 yr old female. About 4 yrs ago, they found a hemangioma on liver while doing an ultrasound fir something else. This year they were doing another US for something else and they found 2 more. They are in the right and left lobe. The drs say not to worry, but i requested a follow up US. Can they tell the difference btwn a hemangioma and cancer. Really worried!
