The head pain is gone now but the tongue numbness is still present 3 days later. Dr initially thought it was an alergic reaction to the migraine meds. They are out of the system now and her tongue is still numb. She has had 2 ct scans read by neurologists and they say migraine. Not sue what the cause of the tongue numbness is????
Avatar n tn I see many posts here about numbness and wisdom tooth extractions. I am seeking answers too. I had my lower left wisdom tooth taken out on October 29th 2008. It's been almost 2 months and I have this constant, totally uncomfortable, tingling sensation going on on the bottom left side of my gums and tongue. I've lost 15 lbs, which was the only good part, but after eating anything at all - the tingling gets worse.
Avatar f tn Over the last few days I noticed intermittently I will have numbness of my lips and tongue. I have looked online and don't think the new symptoms are associated with the others but I'm just not sure.
Avatar f tn This is accompanied by simultaneous ipsilateral (same side) numbness of the tongue. This numbness is caused by compression of the second cervical root (C2) in the atlantoaxial space. . Do discuss this with your doctor (both dentist and orthopedic specialist) and get yourself examined. Take care!
Avatar f tn Numbness in tip of tongue: are you eating something new (& perhaps exotic) at times?
Avatar n tn I felt a shock at the time of the injection and my tongue was numb before he finished the injection. Since then my tongue has been numb and I feel like my tongue and roof of my mouth were burned.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone, In October, 2014, I bit and scraped my tongue extremely hard after eating something that burnt, and it bled. My tongue became numb soon after - not just numb but this really annoying noticeable sensation (not painful). It is now March, 2015, and the numbness / sensation on my tongue is still just as present as it was at the beginning. It doesn't hurt, but the feeling is really annoying and it is there all the time.
Avatar n tn i dont think you have injury to the nerve as the injury is most commonly to the lingual nerve which supplies the anterior part of the tongue and floor of the mouth and u r complaining of numbness related to ur chin , the nerve supplying the cheek is far away the wisdom tooth area to be injured in the operaton check ur oral surgeon to reassure you

Avatar f tn hi there - you should go back to your dental surgeon.
Avatar n tn When I smoked the marijuana, I suffered from extreme paranoia and highly rapid heartbeat that went away after a few hours. I chalked this up to overdoing it. The disturbing thing, though, was the fact that I couldn't feel my mouth or tongue at all for twenty-four hours after the episode. I could put a hand flat on my lips and not feel it there at all; it felt like there was a hole in my jaw where my mouth should have been.
Avatar n tn For all of you out there searching the web for answers..... I had my wisdom teeth removed 3 years ago. About 3 days after the surgery I knew something wasn't right. My entire mouth was dead numb. I couldn't talk right or chew food without my tongue getting in the way.
16744917 tn?1451266839 Hi... after I woke up from my surgery about 6 weeks ago, I too had numbness in my tongue and swallowing was a bit tricky too. The surgeon told me then that there are nerves at the base of the brain, just under the chiari, are linked to the feeling in the tongue, and that during surgery these must have got touched accidentally. He told me the feeling would come back, after about 3-4 weeks mine started feeling better and is now pretty much normal again.
Avatar n tn Can you please tell me how long I can expect to have numbness following a rhizotomy? My surgery was yesterday (I have atypical trigeminal neuralgia) and I have been experiencing severe numbness on my bottom lip, the left side of my tongue (can't taste anything but salt), the inside of my cheek (keep biting it!), the outside of my face all the way up to my ear. I realize that it has been less than 24 hours since the procedure but I would like to know when I will regain sensation.
2015036 tn?1332997788 When I came home from my attack last may-june, after the steriod treatment, my tongue felt strange...like the taste buds were scalded, and food tasted different or funny. After a week, my tongue looked like I had thrush, but it went away shortly after that so I don't know what happened. I thought it was due to the steriods and asked the dr, he said no, I asked if it was due to MS and he said he never heard of it as a symptom before.
Avatar n tn I am still experiencing numbness on the right half of my tongue and the tongue side of my gum tissue. I called my dentist and he gave me decadron to take for seven days. I'm not sure if I want to take it or wait it out and see if it clears on its own. What is your recommendation? Thank you.
382218 tn?1341181487 Has anyone had sudden numbness of the tongue and lips, and if so, what caused this? Last night this sensation seemed to come on quite suddenly, and I thought to myself, here we go with another relapse. But after a few hours it was gone, and has not reappeared today. There was nothing out of the ordinary regarding my diet and activity level yesterday, no sudden rise in body temp, no infection (to my knowledge), etc.
Avatar m tn THIS NUMBNESS WAS ALWAYS VARIABLE. IT WAS NEVER THE SAME. IT ALWAYS CHANGED. SOMETIMES IT WOULD BE NEXT TO NOTHING WHILE AN HOUR LATER I COULDN'T FEEL ANYTHING. At the moment, my right lip and left side of my tongue are seemingly permanently numb, while recently (probably two to three days ago), parts of my right leg have started to get numb randomly. If I stretch it during the night, by the morning the numbness is usually gone. The numbness comes when I'm lying down.

Avatar f tn I do sometimes experience some burning on the right hand side of my face and tongue numbness. On occasions the tongue numbness is really bad but usually not long lasting but of late often my tongue on the underneath but just feels numb or like pressure or tight sensation. When this occurs I seem to have some type of head pain but more like a random shooting pain.
