382218 tn?1341181487 Has anyone had sudden numbness of the tongue and lips, and if so, what caused this? Last night this sensation seemed to come on quite suddenly, and I thought to myself, here we go with another relapse. But after a few hours it was gone, and has not reappeared today. There was nothing out of the ordinary regarding my diet and activity level yesterday, no sudden rise in body temp, no infection (to my knowledge), etc.

Avatar n tn I, too, had my wisdom removed and am now suffering from tongue numbness. My doctor says that it will probably take a couple of weeks for the feeling to return. It has only been one week and I am already higly frustrated. After reading the comments and doing research, I believe that my doctor is lying to me to make himself feel better for what has happended. As a teacher, the need for clear and quick articulation is essential.
Avatar m tn THIS NUMBNESS WAS ALWAYS VARIABLE. IT WAS NEVER THE SAME. IT ALWAYS CHANGED. SOMETIMES IT WOULD BE NEXT TO NOTHING WHILE AN HOUR LATER I COULDN'T FEEL ANYTHING. At the moment, my right lip and left side of my tongue are seemingly permanently numb, while recently (probably two to three days ago), parts of my right leg have started to get numb randomly. If I stretch it during the night, by the morning the numbness is usually gone. The numbness comes when I'm lying down.

2015036 tn?1332997788 When I came home from my attack last may-june, after the steriod treatment, my tongue felt strange...like the taste buds were scalded, and food tasted different or funny. After a week, my tongue looked like I had thrush, but it went away shortly after that so I don't know what happened. I thought it was due to the steriods and asked the dr, he said no, I asked if it was due to MS and he said he never heard of it as a symptom before.
Avatar n tn Hi there. Numbness or tingling in the tongue also known as paresthesia, occur most commonly due to damage to the nervous system. Damage to the lingual nerve supplying the tongue as a complication of dental procedures like wisdom tooth extraction, implants or root canal procedures. Other conditions could be stroke. Sometimes these can involve the lips or jaw. Calcium and vitamin B complex deficiency needs to be addressed. Consult an oral surgeon for assessment of possibilities. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn I just experienced blurred/spotted vision, followed by numbness in left hand, immediately followed by numbness on my lip and nose (left side), then was pounded with an awful headache. Miserable, but I think that could be it.
Avatar n tn After the dentist gave me an injection of novacaine, I have no feeling in the tip of my tongue and along the right side of my tongue. I am afraid I will never regain the sensation in my tongue again. Can you tell me if this is normal, and if so, how long it will take for the feeling to return? I'm thinking my dentist did something wrong to cause this, although he is adamant that he did not. I have more dental work that needs to be done, but am afraid to continue.

Avatar f tn A few years ago, while I was doing some housework I got a very strange sensation in the head, it was (this sounds strange but when I was young my big brother made me his personal 9volt battery tester) like the feeling you get when you put your tongue on a 9 volt battery. It lasted about 30 seconds and then went away, it ws followed by a slight dizzy spell and then nothing. Through the years then I've experianced them but recently I've gotten them quite frequently.
Avatar n tn Pressure changes in this tube at times affect the flow of blood to tongue causing the tingling sensation. Facial numbness is felt even in accompanying sinusitis along with Eustachian tube block. High blood pressure, diabetes and thyroid problems should be ruled out and so also cervical spondylitis causing pressure on the nerves. This needs a more detailed investigation and probably you should consult your doctor and get yourself examined. You may need to undergo some tests too.
Avatar f tn s been having in her jaw, also because her jaw does not open very wide. The surgery was 10 days ago, she is still in pain, and has experienced numbness that has not gone away. Her right side of her tongue is still numb. She was not told there was a possibility that the numbness could be permanent until "after" her surger. She saw her doctor on Monday and he said she was healing "well" and to give it another week. My question is often is the numbness permanent?
