detrol

Avatar f tn DETROL LA Capsules contain tolterodine tartrate. The active moiety, tolterodine, is a muscarinic receptor antagonist. The recommended dose of DETROL LA Capsules are 4 mg daily. DETROL LA should be taken once daily with liquids and swallowed whole. The dose may be lowered to 2 mg daily based on individual response and tolerability. 1933354 tn?1323362834 Keep in mind that when you switched from Toprolol ER (Metoprolol Succinate) to Lopressor (Metoprolol Tartrate), you lost the timed released advantage. If you were taking 25mg. pills of each medication, you are loosing a great deal of the latter drug's effectiveness as the day wears on. The half life of Metoprolol Tartrate is only 3-7 hours. So you must take it at least twice a day for it to be effective the entire 24 hour period. Also 25mg., once a day is a a very small dose.
Avatar n tn I think the anxiety could have been due to health anxiety related to a spinal headache or a reaction to a z-pack, which I had never used before. On my second visit to the ER, they prescribed 50 mg of metoprolol tartrate twice per day. Now my doctor wants me to take an SSRI to help the anxiety. I tried 50 mg of Zoloft but had severe nausea and anxiety the first day and stopped it. Now my doctor has prescribed 10 mg.
9870921 tn?1481258967 I am on 100 mg of metoprolol tartrate twice a day, and yesterday I have stepped it down to 75 mg twice a day..talk about dizzy...whooo.. anyway I am going to have a ablation on wednesday for SVT. I was told to hold my meds the night before and morning of the procedure, I wasn't sure how safe that was, called the pharmacist and he said that was perfectly safe..the doctor also said after the ablation I may not need them at all, so yes I am confused.
Avatar n tn s since I was 25, though they never interfered with my lifestyle until recently. I was diagnosed with afib in July 2010 after a trip to the ER, followed by another trip to the ER for afib at the end of October, 2010. My ventricular heartbeat was about 180 per min, but Cardiezem restored me to normal rhythm in about an hour the first time, but it took about 6 hours the second time to get me back in a normal rhythm. I was put on 120 mg Cardiezem/day + 325 mg aspirin after the first incident.
7510956 tn?1411671417 I was given Metropolol Tartrate and I took the Meds for 2 months (25mg). I then got off them since I felt it could have been anxiety and never had episodes again until last month I began to have them again. I felt afraid as I did the first time and I began taking half of the Metropolol (25mg) each morning to see how I do. This time again I felt the urge to go to the ER but I did not since I know all they are going to do is send me to a cardiologist.
1703392 tn?1307450500 He changed my metaprolol from 50mg succinate once a day (I told him I felt terrible, no energy) to 25mg tartrate twice a day. Thoughts anyone?
Avatar m tn This was not it. Almost a week ago, my doctor prescribed Detrol LA 2mg (Tolterodine L-tartrate 2mg) capsules, to be taken once a day. I first started taking them a week and a half ago, and they don't seem to have had an effect. It's for a condition called "overactive bladder", however, the symptoms of this condition don't really match mine. I also drink lots of water every day, and I don't have diabetes.
Avatar n tn There are two type of Metoprolol, Tartrate and Succinate. With Metoprolol Tartrate, you take it twice a day, usually 12 hours apart. Maximum plasma levels occur about an hour after taking in and it begins to be metabolized. Typically, the dose is reduced 50% every 4 to 5 hours. This is why it's taken twice a day. Metoprolol Succinate is the time release version. It's taken once a day and is slowly metabolized throughout a 24 hr. period.
1027737 tn?1253103788 I think tartrate is fast acting where the other is time released if I remember right.
612551 tn?1450022175 My reason is driven mainly by the fact the Tartrate is about 1/6th the cost of the Suc (ER). That said, I wonder if I will not in fact have a more "level" medication concentration taking the 25 mg twice rather than the 50 mg ER once a day. I think there is a good possibility that I'll have a more uniform medication concentration (on average) taking the Tartrate twice a day. Or, I have my doubts about how well a ER holds up over 24 hours.
Avatar n tn but you must make sure it is the generic for toprol xl because there is metoprolol succinate which is the generic for toprol xl and metoprolol tartrate which is the generic for lopressor. They both work in two different ways so they can not be interchanged at the same dose. I asked this question before toprol xl became a generic.
Avatar n tn I agree on the Tartrate, I changed from Metoprolol ER (or whatever the designation is for slow release on this drug) to Tart for two reasons, One the cost is much lower and I like the 12 hour recharge at half the rate better... just don't fully trust the slower release over a 24 hour period.
12182312 tn?1427683956 SSRIs like paroxetine are a type of antidepressant that works by increasing the amount of serotonin in the brain, while metoprolol is a beta blocker which works on the heart. What type of metoprolol are you taking. Metoprolol Tartrate or Metoprolol Succinate?
Avatar f tn 2) Are there any alternatives to regular blood pressure medication for treating SVT? I was taking metoprolol tartrate 25 mg twice daily, but this caused me to experience chest pressure. My cardiologist took me off of it and put me on a low dose of cardizem. I haven't experienced any ill effects so far from cardizem, but I would much rather find a natural treatment for SVT like acupuncture or natural medicines. I know that bearing down can help stop an episode of it...
Avatar n tn We went to see the doctor, the doctor asked my dad to stop taking METOPROLOL TARTRATE (BETALOC) which he has been taking for a long time. The doctor just said if my dad feels chest pain again, send him to the emergency room. What do you think the issue is? is it normal to become like this after the angioplasty? Why did the doctor ask my dad to stop taking the Metoprolol Tartrate?
Avatar m tn Hello I am 61 yrs old and I been using metoprolol tartrate 25 mgs twice daily and I been noticed I feel funny when I been working on gardening greenhouse and feel weak and I check my blood pressure its normal but heart rate low avgs like 50 sometime later on normal mostly low heart beating what cause it ?? Should have to be cut down once daily instead twice daily just wondering my appt Dr next week pls reply thank you ...
Avatar n tn I change last week from Metroprol to Metoprolol Tartrate because te Tartrate is $4.00. so maybe that new med is what is causing the issue.
Avatar f tn Metoprolol Tartrate ...I looked it up...I guess the "other" name for it is Lopresssor... My brother, who has PAT, has been on this for many years...said no real side effects except he warned me to take it with food. All the info that comes with it ..kinda scary. Like...dont ever stop taking it without checking with your doctor...doing so, could cause chest pain, or even a heart attack! Yikes! So..anybody else on this? I just hate hate hate starting new meds. I love my Atenolol....
Avatar f tn It is availabe injectable or nasal spray. STADOL (butorphanol tartrate) Injection and STADOL NS (butorphanol tartrate) Nasal Spray are listed in Schedule IV of the Controlled Substances Act (CSA). The best suggestion I can give to your friend is to have him/her consult with their physician. The PCP will be in a much better position to recommend which medications will best suit your friend. It is very kind of you to try to help. I wish you both the best of luck.
Avatar f tn If you look at the plasma half life of Metoprolol, at the end of the day, there is very little remaining in you blood. Are you taking it more than once a day? With Metoprolol Tartrate (the standard release kind) taking it only once a day creates these peaks and valleys as opposed to a more level dose.
Avatar f tn I take 25mg of Metoprolol Tartrate and my side effect is very itchiness in the male area. Any suggestions on how to stop the itch?
Avatar m tn Yes, Metoprolol Succinate is the timed release. It is also way more expensive than Metoprolol Tartrate. I switched long ago to the latter and saved a lot of money. A dose costs literally pennies. You have to remember to take it twice a day though. I take it at "5 and 5"; at rising, and at dinner, and it's easy to remember. Metoprolol has the same bradycardia effect as Atenolol, so that has to be watched.
Avatar n tn m on 75mg. Of Metoprolol Tartrate. The nice thing about the two is the doseages are the same. The difference of course is that I must take mine twice a day. It's hard to believe that dose would be responsible for your weight gain, especially with your activities. I found that when I hit my 50's. I had to be very, very careful to maintain my weight. I now eat a Paleo diet, and shun carbohydrates as much as possible.
