Avatar f tn DETROL LA Capsules contain tolterodine tartrate. The active moiety, tolterodine, is a muscarinic receptor antagonist. The recommended dose of DETROL LA Capsules are 4 mg daily. DETROL LA should be taken once daily with liquids and swallowed whole. The dose may be lowered to 2 mg daily based on individual response and tolerability. Avatar n tn I used both, and found that side effects are similar; tiredness, weight gain, and a slow pulse. Side effects are more pronounced as the dosage is increased. I had dosages from 25mg to 200mg. daily. Other reported effects are loss of libido, tightness in the chest, itching, irregular breathing, and irregular heartbeat. If you have any further questions, I'd be happy to respond based on my experience with the drug.
1464004 tn?1384135733 Hi folks! As many of you know I am on metoprolol tartrate 25 MGs b.i.d. for my PSVT. Even though I'm on the lowest dose I do get quite a bit of side effects as far as being overtired and dragging. My cardiologist now has started me on verapamil because my BP has been running high. I'm just afraid this is going to make me even more tired and dragging. Is anybody on this combo and if so how have the side effects been?
Avatar n tn You may experience headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rate. These side effects are most likely to be seen at the beginning of treatment, following a dose increase, or when treatment is restarted after an interruption......
1464004 tn?1384135733 If your BP is on the low side, the effects you feel when standing or bending over are a common side effect from many beta blockers. How much Metoprolol per day are you taking? This drug will slow your heart down, and make it slower to respond to high level of respiration and physical output. I had to adjust my training regime once I began it. I warm-up longer than I used to, and start slowly.
Avatar n tn for years, and feel no side effects of whatsoever. You should consult with his physician before modifying what he's prescribed for him.
Avatar n tn The cardiezem did not seem to help as I had taken a dose 1 hour before my afib actually began. I was struggling with side effects from Cardiezem and asked to have my medicine changed, so I was put on 50 mg Metroprolol Tartrate per day, but began to suffer some nasty side effects--headaches, dizziness, nausea, abdominal cramps, lucid dreams, runny nose, and my heart rate dropped from 75-85 bpm to 45 to 55 bpm's depending on what I was doing.
Avatar n tn Depression, diarrhea, dizziness, itching, rash, shortness of breath, slow heartbeat, tiredness. The chest pains are another issue and could be the result of restenosis of the previous treatment of angioplasty (balloon, stent?). The symptoms of chest pain, excessive sweating , etc. is consistent with ischemia (lack of blood flow) possibly with restenosis or other blockage. It would get an immediate checkup, if it is ischemia there can be permanent damage to the heart cells.
Avatar f tn Hello everyone. I had sexual side effects from taking Metoprolol Tartrate. Are there any BP meds that I can take that do not cause these effects? I have heard of some that I could speak to my doctor about. But I wanted to ask here to see what advice I get from this forum. Thanks so much.
Avatar f tn Anyway to cut a long story short the other day I read the information piece of paper in the box of its side effects and read this.
1933354 tn?1323362834 I saw that side effects for this med consitst of heart failure and heart block. I just want to make sure these are not side effects of allergies, but rather possible heart block from my med!? I am 24 years old, have had more heart tests then most people who need it on this site. Echo, Stress tests, EKGs, Holters, all look good, just periods of inappropraite sinus tachycardia. Any input would be great, since I have started this new med, my pulse is very calm and normal again.
Avatar n tn I do not want to return to the emergency room or experience the bad side effects again. Any advice? Is it true that SSRIs and beta blockers are not a wise combination? Is there an SSRI that works well with metoprolol tartrate? I do not have a history of high blood pressure, but I do have a history of anxiety. I used Paxil in the past but stopped due to the numb feeling. I think I also had weight gain on the Paxil.
Avatar m tn Yes, Metoprolol Succinate is the timed release. It is also way more expensive than Metoprolol Tartrate. I switched long ago to the latter and saved a lot of money. A dose costs literally pennies. You have to remember to take it twice a day though. I take it at "5 and 5"; at rising, and at dinner, and it's easy to remember. Metoprolol has the same bradycardia effect as Atenolol, so that has to be watched.
Avatar m tn http://www.drugs.com/drug-interactions/celexa-with-inderal-679-335-1956-1266.html As both Metoprolol Tartrate and Citaprolam are metabolized in the liver, the Citaprolam can increase the effects of the Metoprolol Tartrate causing "bradycardia, hypotension, and complete heart block following the addition of a SSRI, subsequently requiring discontinuation of one or both agents and/or institution of a permanent pacemaker.
Avatar f tn As others have mentioned, you are on a very low dose. It's not uncommon to take 100mg and more per day especially to control SVT. I was on 100mg for my near lifelong SVT. I experimented with all kids of dosages starting at 50mg per day, and working all the way up to 200mg. per day which left me in a zombie state until backing off to 100mg. None of these dosages prevented episodes SVT which I was getting 3 to 5 times per month.
Avatar n tn Yes, I agree with Jerry. While it's a pretty big jump, it's still what I'd consider to be a moderate. It's not unheard of to be on doses as high as 400mg per day. I was on 100mg for a f ew years until dropping back to 75mg. following my ablation. I am very accustomed to taking this dose, and feel no obvious side effects except for taking a little longer to get my heart upto speed. If I could caution you to look for one thing that crept up on me.
Avatar m tn Hello I am 61 yrs old and I been using metoprolol tartrate 25 mgs twice daily and I been noticed I feel funny when I been working on gardening greenhouse and feel weak and I check my blood pressure its normal but heart rate low avgs like 50 sometime later on normal mostly low heart beating what cause it ?? Avatar f tn You are talking about Chantix (Varenicline tartrate) that should be available worldwide. If not, ask your doctor for other suggestion for quitting smoking.
Avatar n tn t treat these until they get over 150. Your doctor has weighed the risk of side effects to the benefit of your treatment and made this decision. I would not be too concerned about enzymes that high, I have seen these well over 300 and as I said, doctors don't usually give it a second thought until it spikes over 150.
Avatar m tn He switched me to Brimonidine Tartrate and not only did the side effects go away but my pressures were best they have been in years 16-15 don't know why they felt so unusual but two docs and one tech double and triple checked. even had me come back in 4 weeks to do again and 15-17 . I just thought there was no way eye drops could have side effects . But the results from a switch were a pleasant surprise. Doc said sometimes drops are not effective anymore and a change works.
Avatar f tn I take 25mg of Metoprolol Tartrate and my side effect is very itchiness in the male area. Any suggestions on how to stop the itch?
Avatar m tn This was not it. Almost a week ago, my doctor prescribed Detrol LA 2mg (Tolterodine L-tartrate 2mg) capsules, to be taken once a day. I first started taking them a week and a half ago, and they don't seem to have had an effect. It's for a condition called "overactive bladder", however, the symptoms of this condition don't really match mine. I also drink lots of water every day, and I don't have diabetes.
Avatar n tn I am taking metoprolol tartrate 25mg twice and day because my heart rate was a little high when I saw my doctor 122 bpm. I was on 50mg twice a day, but my doc cut it due to side effects. I'm still suffering side effects, stiff arms, legs, and depression. I am also having some difficulty with my blood sugar, stays low. I feel like all I do is eat, when I asked my cardiologist he said to talk to my general practitioner.
