Avatar m tn is tobramycin in tobradex effective against s. Aureus? Are there better antibiotics for this condition? Ive tried many others but it seems they make more harm than good. I wonder whether my glands have bacteria inside or not.
Avatar m tn By Wednesday it was worse so I went to opthamologist who disgnosed Chalazion and prescribed warm/hot compresses several tmes a day and TOBRADEX eye drops 4 x a day + TOBRADEX ointment at night. It is now Saturday, six days later, with eye worse. Does this seem like good advice? Is it usual that a Chalazion will get worse after initial appearance and after treatment has started I am away from home for work which makes me less secure about medical care.
Avatar m tn You could certainly try a short course of Tobradex ophthalmic ointment to the affected lid skin. If the condition has not improved in about a week or 10 days, I would have an ophthalmologist examine your child.
Avatar n tn My 93 yr. old mom was given Tobradex for an eye infection and has not been the same since. She had no med. hist. other than moderate dementia. After the 1st dose of tobradex, she became difficult to arrouse and because of this, slightly dehydrated. She also had immediate increased difficulty in swallowing. Approx. 3 weeks after dc of ointment, she was in the hospital due to build up of upper resp. fluid.
1594138 tn?1297213559 My husband has had an irritation in his L eye & it was diagnosed as a Chilazion by his GP. He was given drops at first & told to do the warm compresses 2x a day. He recommended same treatment, different drop. These drops are Tobramycin & Dexamethasone. This didn't clear it up.. The doctor then injected the chilazion and it got better for a couple of days but then the R eye started w/ a sharp pain that was accompanied by inflamed blood vessels.
Avatar f tn Does Tobramycin and Dexamethasone Ophthalmic Suspension USP, 0.3%/0.1% (sterile) treat Corneal Ulcer?
Avatar n tn I am an adult who got double conjunctivitis while away on vacation. Dr prescribed ointment but I wasn't totally better when i got home so went to local eye dr who prescribed zylet. After 2 days my eyes felt dry but he said it was the heat ( we are having a cold winter in ny)and to keep taking it with refresh drops, which I did for 10 days. Went to a specialist at this point and he said I was allergic to zylet, it took 2 weeks to clear up allergic reaction but I still have dry eye.
Avatar f tn Hello, and thank you in advanced. I'm a 24 years old female. I live in Virginia. My left eye's problems began in 2008. The problem began with watering of my left eye only out of the inner corner. This water wouldn't leak don my cheeks, it would collect on the top of my eyelid. This made just the corner red and irritated. Then the skin started cracking in the corners. I was given Pataday and antibotic ointment to put on these cuts and was told it was allergy related.
Avatar n tn I have been treating my eye with Tobradex ointment, and massaging the ointment into my eyelids. Also, I have not been wearing any eye makeup. I plan on replacing all of my makeup and brushes, to prevent a reinfection. Does this sound like my problem is styes? I am including a photo of my eye. The bump on my upper eyelid appears white, but in reality it is flesh colored.
Avatar n tn Maybe it's seborrheic dermatitis The only thing you can use are prescriptions of eye ointment that is safe for the eyes. A neo/poly/dexamethasone. It's a steroid/antibiotic ointment. Ask the doctor....I am not a doctor.... Some say that UV rays can help. Have you changed his diet?
452314 tn?1209596780 Tobradex ointment 2 times a day for a month, After a month he went back for a check up and was told to decrease the use of Tobradex ointment and was told to use it once a day but still did not recommend the continuance of the grafting. I really would appreciate it if you could say something about it. Thanks in advance.
Avatar m tn Two days before,I went to see another ophthalmologist and he said my cornea had been damaged a little bit by virus. He gave me a new ointment called TobraDex. He asked me to come back the next two days for eye check. When the day came and I went to see him again, my left eye vision was little blur and better than last time. He told me to apply for another week.
Avatar f tn Doctor said everything is the way it should look inside my eye following the surgery and he is not concerned. I am using TobraDex ointment 2x a day. Can you advise why my eye lid is swelling shut?
6869297 tn?1385577414 The choice of eye drops for ocular herpes is not a good choice. Tobradex has a steroid in it (dexamethasone) and steroids make HSV-1 WORSE and are contraindicated (in some cases steroids are used cautiously for intraocular herpes uvieitis or cornea stromal disease) but not the common superficial epetheial disease. If you see a non MD optometrist I suggest you see an Eye MD. If you see an Eye MD I would ask why he/she chose a steroid containing medication.
Avatar m tn For an external eye infection tobradex is not a good first drop because it contains a steroid (dexamethasone) and that has too many side effects. Also some people develop allergy to other component tobramycin. I can't tell you what to do because I've not seen your eyes but as a generalization we would stop the drops. Your problem might be migraine with aura. Allergies do not cause migraines.
20904477 tn?1608092461 You need to discuss with whomever prescribed that medication. About 10% of people that use drops or ointment with neomycin develop sensitivity, irritation and/or allergy.
Avatar n tn I had an eye infection(eye redness) and my doctor pescribed me Tobradex for 5 days. The eye redness is gone now but I'm having problem now on my right eye Problems are blurred vision ,eye pain upon eye movement and a sensitivity to light. I searched on Google and found in many articles that the eye blurriness is one of the side effects of using Tobradex. My question is there anyone had the same problem of blurry vision? what precautions to take ? Is your eye is now ok?
Avatar m tn I got worried and went to a urgent care and met a general physician, he prescribed me Gentak eye ointment and I used it for 2 days and the eyes got well. Now, again it started from few days the eyes becoming red and feels irritating, and this time I went to a ophthalmologist yesterday and he prescribed TOBRADEX and he said vision and everything is good and it seems to be an infection (conjunctivitis).
Avatar f tn Then it became so bad, that I had sharp pain in the left eye (surgery eye). Anyhow, I was then diagnosed with blepharitis, took some antibiotics and use an ointment daily along with scrub cleaning the eye lashes after warm them with compresses. The problem is that I still have problems in the surgery eye, the sharp pain returns ever so often, along with the congestion in the nostril with the new tubing. So, my question is can you have blepharitis in one eye only?
Avatar m tn Almost 5 days i took Tobradex ointment but it doesnt improve my vision. After further diagonis they said right eye has affected with CSR . For last onew week i am taking Nevanac(nepafenac opthalmic suspension) 0.1% for evry 2 hour and duotrav ( travoprost/timotol) one drop at night) and celebrex tablet one per day. Avatar n tn I was told that the eye itself looked very good...no infection/abrasions noted. I was put on Tobradex drops for pain management. I have not noticed any improvement with my eye since using the drops. I'm wanting to know if I should be seen by an opthamologist. Does an opthamologist treat problems associated with the eyelids/muscles when the eye appears to be healthy?
Avatar n tn s guidance, we have tried an oral antibiotic which did nothing, and then we tried a topical ointment which again did nothing so my GP referred me to children's eye doctor who was wonderful and he gave us tobradex to apply topically to the outside of her eye.
