Avatar m tn For an external eye infection tobradex is not a good first drop because it contains a steroid (dexamethasone) and that has too many side effects. Also some people develop allergy to other component tobramycin. I can't tell you what to do because I've not seen your eyes but as a generalization we would stop the drops. Your problem might be migraine with aura. Allergies do not cause migraines.
Avatar n tn The Dr said I have bulging eyes which no one in 70 years has ever mentioned. The Dr said I have excess pressure in the eyes. He R/x Timolol Maleate and Tobramycin Dexamethasone along with Minocycline which caused extreme abdominal pain, diarrhea within days of beginning the regiment. Also I was told to get a CT scan to see if I have a Thyroid condition .

Avatar m tn After one month I went to that doctor for check up and the doctor said that my eye is healing in a proper way and suggested medicines for 2 months(Tobramycin,Dexamethasone Drops). He didn't suggested any exercise. From day one of surgery I had double vision later it was healed to some extent. But yet when I see right & left side, I have double vision which is straining my eyes. Is this a normal problem or for rare cases? I have also lost some vision .
Avatar m tn John, I did go to my 3rd doctor (Cornea and Anterior Segment specialist) and he did a more thorough inspection of my eye (everted my upper eyelid, etc) and said i have Chronic Blepharitis. He prescribed me to use Blephagel (lid cleaning) and Tobrex (Tobramycin w/o Steroid). From my perspective, it did not help. Symptoms didn't really clear up. In fact, both my eyes now are irritated.
Avatar f tn My eyes are still tearing alot. So much that it appears I'm crying. My opthamologist put me on an antibiotic and the redness and itching went away, but my eyes still tear. I do have cataracts. My Optha. doctor had pics taken of the inside of my eyes and said all looks well, but that it does seem like my eyes are reacting to something. I haven't been taking any eyedrops, she stopped everything, all drops.
6869297 tn?1385577414 The choice of eye drops for ocular herpes is not a good choice. Tobradex has a steroid in it (dexamethasone) and steroids make HSV-1 WORSE and are contraindicated (in some cases steroids are used cautiously for intraocular herpes uvieitis or cornea stromal disease) but not the common superficial epetheial disease. If you see a non MD optometrist I suggest you see an Eye MD. If you see an Eye MD I would ask why he/she chose a steroid containing medication.
Avatar n tn I had an eye infection(eye redness) and my doctor pescribed me Tobradex for 5 days. The eye redness is gone now but I'm having problem now on my right eye Problems are blurred vision ,eye pain upon eye movement and a sensitivity to light. Avatar m tn She said I had the bacterial type of pink eye and gave me a prescription for Tobramycin. I used it for seven days and had about 50% improvement, but the infectipon was still present. I went back yesterday and she put me on three days of prednisone --6 pill therapy and a new prescrition for Tobramycin for six more days. If this doesn't work--what are my options? I have read that Tobramycin can cause kidney damage. Are their other drugs to use?
Avatar n tn I was told that the eye itself looked very good...no infection/abrasions noted. I was put on Tobradex drops for pain management. I have not noticed any improvement with my eye since using the drops. I'm wanting to know if I should be seen by an opthamologist. Does an opthamologist treat problems associated with the eyelids/muscles when the eye appears to be healthy?

Avatar f tn Both lower lids become puffy, a little bit itchy, red, wrinkled and visibly dry. I went to ophthalmologist and was prescribed Tobradex (antibiotic/corticosteroid). This medication helped after I used it for a couple of weeks. I stopped using it, and everything was fine for a while, my lower eyelids were back to normal, without that awful wrinkles and puffiness and redness. But in about 10-14 days the problem started again. I again used Tobradex for about 3-4 days.
