I recently told my doctor and he switched me to armour thyroid medication... Does anyone know if this will help with some of my weight gain and my chronic fatigue ...it is becoming unbearable... Unfortunately, with Hashis, your levels can fluctuate quite a bit, and there are so many things that can help that happen. You should make sure you are taking your meds on an empty stomach, at the same time every day, no antacids within 4 hours, etc. Make sure your doctor isn't going only by the TSH levels.....if he/she is, then find another doctor ASAP.....are you seeing an Endocrinologist?
Check out SOD. It is not as uncommon as they say. I have met many people in a group at yahoo groups that have the same thing post gallbladder removal. Getting a diagnosis is the hardest as there are not very many doctors with knowledge of it. The group at yahoo is SOD pancreatitis. Good luck & God bless!

Thanks so much Tracy, I happened upon this while surfing the net while I was having some of my worse PVCs, just never know what else to do except look for people with similar and it helps plus it will ease my mind off my bad bouts of them at times as well.

The main reason docs don't like to use thyroid suppressants long term is due to the possibility of side effects (liver problems and white blood cell problems). I think the occurance of side effects is rare, but must occur often enough to warrant the warnings given. And, I think that if you are going to achieve remission, it happens within a year to 18 months, and after that docs pretty much "throw in the towel" on trying them any longer.

t start till June I can go to class next quarter Yahoo. Even if USC changes my mind about who does it I can still push it off till summer. I can't stay home I just can't.
I walked to the library without stopping and back (with a bathroom break and grabbed a couple of books inbetween) with the walker. I wasn't able to do it without stopping a lot 2 weeks ago. Yahoo. Oh and I started PT exercises on Thursday. It went well. I'm still working on getting off the walker.

I was very lucky when I had my thyroidectomy that my surgeon was able to save 1 of my para-tyroid glands and I do show pht production. I don't know if you've heard about this, but there's a great gastroparesis group in Yahoo Groups. You're likely to find a fair amount of info there from people who've been through what you and your daughter are going through.
FREE T3 and FREE T4 are much more important than TSH since they are the actual thyroid hormones. If you have those results, please post them with reference ranges (vary lab to lab).
What's more important than any lab numbers is your symptoms. How do you feel?
