Avatar m tn i really thanks you for the info provided. actually my T3 and T4 level are again within the range but my TSH is still low. in taht case, will my immune system still fighting the thyroid in that case? can't the immune system generates more than one type of antibodies? i am bit scared with what you have said " Grave's Disease may weaken your immune system a little," my TRAb is 4.5 and lately decreased to 4.2 U/L.
Avatar f tn It feels like all my heat source comes from outside of me. I live in the north and struggle with depression and my body gets very cold. It feels like I have no blood running through my veins. I have had many blood test but they all come back normal.
Avatar f tn they are diffenetly related to not having enough thyroid hormone in your system, have you had your Ft3 Ft4 and TSH tested? if yes. if you post them then those on this forum can let you know what you should do. If you are low enough on your thyroid hormone to get tremmers you must be having other side effects, what other hypo symptoms are you having?
Avatar f tn I believe getting my amalgam/mercury fillings replaced is helping my thyroid situation. The mercury, in my case, I believe has settled in and around my thyroid tissue causing the body to NOT RECOGNIZE it and attack it. makes sense to me..and as I remove the mercury the body will clear and the immune system won't be confused, thus lowering the Hashimoto's antibodies. Lots to think about...remember YOU are your own best friend through all of this..

Avatar m tn In the last two months I noticed a lump on my thyroid and it has slowly increased in size. Also I have been having ear pain and am worried it is related to my thyroid like cancer or something like that. I have also read that certain types of thyroid cancer can cause Cushing's. I have had all kinds of blood work done and it has all been normal including TSH and all has been in normal range.
Avatar f tn Here is the Doctor Link: http://www.medhelp.org/forums/Thyroid/show/120 I had Atrial Fibrillation 3 times in 2 weeks prior to RAI. Dosing at the incorrect level can send you Hyper. You have to be pretty experienced at dosage of Iodoral and also know your symtoms and body inside out. If this product was so great then why are we all taking Synthroid, Thyroxin, Cytomel or Armour?
Avatar n tn Never heard of it. It you find out, please post back.
Avatar f tn I have Severe Graves Disease Hyperthyroidism, Thyroid Eye Disease and Thyrotoxic Myopathy. What levels mean what?? I have a complete mental block and I really need to pay attention to this as I am obviously not well at all and I must keep on top of this. Thanks so much guys.
Avatar f tn Can you please post his lab results here or in our Thyroid Forum? If it is indeed a thyroid problem he will have this for life. But the good news is, it can be controlled with medication. People on our thyroid forum are very knowledgeable and will be a great support for you and your son.
Avatar f tn s Disease as it is called, is an auto-immune disease, so your immune system is made of of T Cells, which fight bacteria etc in your body, in this case they do not recognize your thyroid gland and attack it, causing it to slow down or stop producing hormones and secreting them into your system, meanwhile your pituitary gland keeps sending a signal to your thyroid to secrete hormones (This signal is your TSH) via TSH, When your TSH is high, you are considered Hypo (Underactive) when your TSH is lo
Avatar m tn It is an auto-immune condition where the body thinks the thyroid gland is a foreign invader and as a good immune system does, it attacks the "invader". Bottom line is the the immune system is slowly reducing the thyroid gland to produce hormone. So in order to combat that thyroid hormone medication is taken to replace the amount lost so that you feel well. In concept that is simple. However getting the exact right dosage that makes you feel well is more of an art than science.
Avatar m tn Hello Dear, It seems you have been having some neuropathic condition like Benign fasciculation syndrome which is a neurological disorder characterized by twitching of various voluntary muscles in the body like that in eyelids, arms, legs, and feet. The twitching may be occasional or may go on nearly continuously. An electromyograph test is desirable to assess your condition better. Do you also have altered sensations, fatigue, muscle cramps and exercise intolerance?
Avatar f tn I recently had my labs done and my thyroid level is in the high 700s. I have had constant hives which are extremely painful. I was referred to an allergist which are the ones that ordered the labs and all they gave me was allergy medicine. Should I be on thyroid medication given that my level is so high. I have also been extremely tired and agitated.
698356 tn?1240150727 I posted this over in women's health too, but I have a strong suspicion that my thyroid is somehow involved. The facts: - I'm 26 years old. - I have never conceived or tried to conceive. - I have been on birth control pills since I was 17 for irregular periods (irregular meaning 2 weeks, then 7 weeks mostly too frequent) - I was diagnosed with autoimmune hypothyroidism in November 2008. I have been taking T4 replacement hormone since diagnosis.
Avatar n tn Hyperthyroidism should be suspected in case of burning in eyes and hot and sweaty upper body. In females above 40 years it can be a symptom of menopause or premenopause. Peripheral neuropathies as in diabetes too should be looked into. Fibromyalgia is another possibility. It is unlikely to be a cancer as endoscopy would have caught it. Take care!
1139187 tn?1355706647 I believe you are probably correct in your assessment of what happened. When we are hypo for a long time, our body gets used to that, plus the adrenals try to compensate for what the thyroid can't do, which eventually wears down the adrenals also. It's never a good idea to give a hypo person a full therapeutic dose of med right off the bat.
149081 tn?1242397832 For the last 2 saturdays I have had weird attacks where my body juist wants to give out- i get a weird bad pressure in my head, my body gets numb and I get the shakes, and feel like i'm going to collapse- my brain cannot focus.
Avatar f tn The gluten molecules-mainly from gmo grains- resemble the TPO(Thyroid Peroxidase - an enzyme necessary for the signalling Thyroid hormone production) molecules and thus the immune system in its response against gluten, attacks the TPO in the Thyroid also! This would possibly explain the continued issues and the enlarged thyroid. Why are you on diuretics? I don't see the connection with reducing inflammation. Prolonged use may not serve you well at all!
Avatar n tn With a high TSH like that it is usually suspected as being related to an autoimmune condition called Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. With Hashi's the autoimmune system erroneously identifies the thyroid gland as foreign to the body and produces antibodies to attack and eventually destroy the gland. As this progresses the pituitary increases output of TSH in an attempt to stimulate more output of thyroid hormone from the gland.
Avatar f tn s then she is running at a low metabolic rate. Proper thyroid levels effect MANY functions in the body, including metabolism, energy, proper organ function, cognition, etc... The list is quite long and serious. It is imperative that you continue to persue this with PROPER blood test (freet3 and freet4 and antibodies (TSH ans Total t4 are not enough)) and scans (ultrasound and radioactive iodine uptake scan if needed.)You can post all results here and we can advise you, as pediatric endo.
Avatar f tn I have been having irradical thyroid readings and now my Doctor tells me my antibodies are destroying my thyroid. She is sending me to see an Endocrynologist. What would cause my antibodies to destroy an organ that is needed for my body?
Avatar f tn Don't rush with the "baby" thing. You are still young. Normally doctors say after 35 its gets a bit more difficult. As far as soda, that also has a lot of caffeine and daily consumption of soda can give you cysts, even in the breast. But, of course, you should consult with your physician. Take care of yourself and find a back-up person. Your health is just as important as your little ones! If you are not ok, then they won't be ok.
