Avatar n tn I originally brought him to the doctor since he was feeling pretty bad, alternated between warm clammy skin to being very cold, including a wide range of other symptoms, including depression. Since autoimmune thyroid runs in the family, checking the thyroid is where we started.
Avatar n tn We have a 13 yr. old neighbor girl who comes to visit when our granddaughters are here. I couldn't help but notice that her neck was puffy. In between where the lines are in her neck, it is puffy. Does she have cancer or something or a thyroid problem?
454366 tn?1211245301 Monitoring the dosage is critical to proper lithium treatment. I have been on 300mg in the a.m., and 600mg in the p.m. and my liver and thyroid are both fine. I also take (in treatment of bipolar mania) 60mg Geodon 2x's daily, 1mg Ativan 3X a day, and .25mg Xanax 3X daily (as needed). Since I increased my Geodon to twice daily, I feel like a new person. The lithium is the most benign of my drugs. It's the Geodon I hate.
Avatar f tn t always accurate because the cancer can be in the thyroid tissue not the nodule. In my friends case they removed the thyroid first and checked it after, but we didn't want to have the surgery unless is was absolutely necessary.
Avatar f tn When her meds are not high enough and her thyroid hormones are unbalanced (high t4 with low t3) I have seen the air hunger in her (especially when trying to exercise. The excessive yawning is also a way for the body to get air and is seen sometimes. Are the girls having any other symptoms? (constipation, moodiness, weight gain, excessivly hungry, forgetfulness, cries without knowing why, heart palpatations, issues w/body temp., issues with sleep, muscle or joint pain etc...
Avatar f tn hi iam a mother of 5 months baby girl.i has taken my baby for thyroid test and the result as follows,t3-124,t4-7.40,tsh-1.86.
597354 tn?1227197932 He has been diagnosed already with ADHD and is on meds for it (i hate that). My question is - do children have thyroid problems that young or is it usually later in life? It may sound like a stupid question to some people but I really don't know and I haven't had time to research it. I didn't really even consider that he could have a problem at such a young age. If this is possible, I want him tested immediately.
Avatar n tn Most just assume that it magically converts but will not double check ( must be against some oath they took at their t4 supported medical school) Ha! My daughter was born without a thyroid gland in 2000. Does your child have a thyroid gland?
Avatar f tn I'm 40 yold and have been diagnosed earlier this year with a 'second'/ectopic thyroid in my chest - close to SVC. Since it's a hot thyroid (in addition to my 'regular' hot thyroid" - both have good hormone levels). So the doctor suspects it's most likely benign and we've decieded to monitor it for now. But I just found out after my MRI that it grew a bit and now its "displacing and supressing that blood vessel - superior vena cavae. It's 6x4x4cm.
484267 tn?1239037973 She had suggested removal of the Thyroid and mentioned if I planned to have anymore children. There is a language barrier that makes communication difficult and I was not able to to clearly ask all of the question that I had wanted. Of course I have a appointment in the near near future but, I cant wait anymore. Is it still possible to have a child after you have had your Tyroid removed.
Avatar f tn We also have found out that 3 women in our church and that live in our area also have thyroid nodules (they are all under 40). None of these people had thyroid problems before and we all moved to this area 5 years ago. Do I need to worry that there is something in our environment that is causing these nodules. Two out of the five so far are cancerous.
Avatar m tn All I can tell you is, I was born w/out a thyroid gland (the only one in all of my family trees) to have this problem. My children were born healthy and all their organs in place, including working thyroids. I don't think hypo or hyper thyroid is inherited. If a child is born with or in early stages of infancy begin to show symptoms of thyroid issues (Downe's syndrome/Mongoloid..
Avatar f tn You have to admit that it is a little wierd that all 3 children have thyroid problems at such an early age! Please share any advice you can give me.
Avatar f tn By close contact we mean a distance of 1 metre or less. It is safe to be in the same room as children, but do not hold them close to you or sit next to them for long periods, e.g. for more than 1 hour. Do not let your children sleep with you. Double flush the toilet for 7 days after treatment. All your clothing used during the first 7 days after treatment should be stored and washed separately in your washing machine.

805647 tn?1238079141 Hi, I have a nodule in the front of my neck under my adams apple, the ultrasound suspected this to be a thyroglossal duct cyst but my ENT says otherwise and says it is a thryoid nodule, all fnbiopsy results ok although the fnb itself was very painful as they could not get what they needed and had to do another and another..............My doctor says because the nodule is in the front and not on the right or left side I should have a full thyroidectomy.

Avatar n tn Our daughter was a healthy 3 year old who for no reason started gaining weight at an alaming rate. In July of 06 she weighed 40 pounds. In July of 07 she weighed 52 pounds In September of 08 she was up to 76 pounds. We were sent to an endocrinologist in 07, who ran some bloodwork and said that everything was fine that we just had to accept the fact that we had a chunky child and that we needed to stop her from gaining weight.

Avatar f tn (I had it in high school and now the doctors say in retrospect that this has been going on since then.) There is a pediatric endo on the Ask a Doctor forum on this site. If you don't mind, what are their TSH levels? I just asked my endo today at what ages to get my children tested. he said now- they are 9 and 12. He said to be sure to also get the thyroid antibodies tested as that will increase even before the TSH.
